HA! patch finally goes up and they cant even support the download. My oh my, They’d never get away with this if it weren’t free.
Let alone the mess that is the Arah gates.
Is anyone actually surprised they aren’t releasing on time? It takes them weeks just to fix broken skill points.
@Ruien, here’s a unique idea, before you post in a topic, read what the people are talking about. If you’d have done that you wouldn’t have said anything in the first place.
Completely agree with OP. I’ve done 6 exp paths or so and while theyre frustrating with pugs I can appreciate that they’d be fun with a good group. But story modes need to be tuned WAYYYY down. Especially AC, CM, and TA. these are the first three dungeons a player is going to encounter and it’s likely they’re going to be in terrible gear with NO toughness/vitality on it. On top of that, theyre not going to have their rotation memorized so theyll be looking down to watch cds, and won’t know what visual cues to look for to avoid the NUMEROUS 1 shot mechanics.
And since the dev’s are always asking for examples, how about this. Go roll an elementalist to 30, grab a bunch of crappy blue gear, and let someone who didnt design the encounters try to play through AC. After they die for the 12th time and finally finish the dungeon take special note of the “Never doing that **** again” look on their face. There’s your example.
Honestly, I only play PVE and even though I’ve been trying to drop WoW for a long time, the dungeons and all 3 Orr zones have completely convinced me to go back.
Personally I was having a problem finding another class to play after ele. warrior is fun for like 5 levels until you’ve hundred bladed yourself to boresville. Ranger was fun but incredibly too simple and and I’ve always hated energy so thief was out of the question. I really am liking Guardian though. most of the weapon sets have great buffs that they give out, and there are distinct defensive and offensive sets. Plus its alot more fluid switching between weapon sets to maximize dps than switching attunements, mostly because of the attunement cds. Plus the torch skills are just BA.
Honestly, I use guardian as a relief when I get frustrated about being so squishy as an ele. I can kitten near tank same level champs lol.
A lot of people here keep defending the lack of tangible rewards from completing “end game” content, and to me, it just doesn’t make much sense. They say that the “fun” of doing these activities is reward in and of itself. I call bullkitten.
This game is absolutely just as infuriating and grind happy as every other mmo out today, but for some reason its ok for this one to not provide any incentive to accomplish the grind. Sure, killing the claw in Frostgorge or raiding Grenth’s temple in Shore is fun, just to experience it. But once thats over you need some kind of incentive to keep coming back and doing it, other than a handful of craptastic blue items and the occasional green vendor trash.
As it stands the only consistent way to get gear upgrades is to either craft them, explore high level zones, or farm every single dungeon 70+ times to get aesthetic sets. What was wrong with the “run a dungeon, get good loot” system? Is it honestly more fun to walk out of a dungeon with a few tokens and a repair bill? Maybe a vendor item if you’re lucky?
I guess I must not be the audience that anet is targeting because for some strange reason I enjoy getting upgrades for my character, and since there arent any skill upgrades past level 40 then the only thing to upgrade is the gear you have, and thereby the stats you have, which in turn increases your damage, your survivability, and the overall fun you have playing your class. I play rpg’s because I like to see my character PROGRESS.
Honestly, a game needs to be both fun AND rewarding. Guild Wars 2 is very fun. But it is absolutely not rewarding. It reminds me too much of life, where the effort you put in does not necessarily equal the reward you acquire, if you acquire one at all.
You’re level 20, stop worrying about gear that you’ll replace by 25. Just have fun and level, the damage you do and your ability to survive are going to be based solely on your skill as a player, not on the gear you’re wearing.
I’m gonna be honest Quin, that sounds entirely inaccurate. Threat is based off of how threatening you are to a target. How likely that target is going to die if it lets you live as opposed to another character.
With that in mind, damage done to said target would play one of the more important roles in determining threat.
Case in point, I play a staff ele, stacked with toughness. So even though I have alot of toughness, and spend most of my time at max range from an enemy I end up pulling a ton of threat because I do a ton of damage.
Not to say that damage is the only contributor to aggro, but its certainly one of the main causes.
Only if we can play “spot the whining FotM players” after :-*
Earth attuned sceptre would have Eruption from earth staff.. Holy god it would be so amazing. THE BLEEEDS!!!
personally I run a condition ele and went 30/10/30/0/0 the 30 fire is really just so you can switch out to throw out a few fire spells when theyre bleed immune, the burning on crit fi no1 else in the group provides it, and the might stacks you get from throwing out fire spells to start the fight so you can get out buffed bleeds. I maintain ~20 stacks of bleeding by myself and pull aggro offkittennear everyone in crap gear, so dont let anyone say that certain builds are required. personally id like to see what a D/F water build could do.
Oh I love when the bads get frustrated and reroll. I love my ele and i’m glad that it’s my main. I love the versatility that you can bring by switching weapons between encounters when you know whats coming. Hell I can throw on a staff and kite adds endlessly or drop into D/D and melt faces. I can spec for bleeds/burns, might, healing… what can you do? Oh right, hit kitten with a sword.
Ele ftw.
I dont miss at all on my ele… or with heart seeker on my thief… Are you facing the target?? O,o
I have to agree with everyone else Brew, the dungeons are by FAR my least favorite part of GW2. I’ll even take this crazy 10-15 second lag im getting over them. The thing that draws me into the game is that it’s fun. But dungeons are not fun, at all.
The mechanics arent interesting save a select few,
The rewards are laughable,
Aggro is an absolute mess(especially since most classes dont even have a simple aggro dump),
Story modes are far too unforgiving considering most people are just going to stop by while leveling and pug it.
I play an ele, and I really know how to put out damage and stance dance to keep bleeds and burns up but going in to a dungeon I end up playing a boring 1 attunement rotation because anything more and I get aggro and spend half of the gd time laying on the ground bleeding out and the other half running back from dying.
Yet another day of awful unplayable lag here as well. Worse during peak times but it happens consistently every single day. I can play normally for 15 mins to an hour and then I have to log off because i’m running anywhere between 1,000-15,000 ms latency. I really do love this game, but for the love of god this is just ridiculous. If you’re going to release a game make sure it works.

This is ridiculous, if theyre going to put stipulations on the achievement at least make them known. Dont let people sit there for 2+ hours farming to get the **** achieve just to be stopped by some random exception they decided to put in.
