Hey Guys,
New to GW2/WvW and I have been reading over some builds and I am a bit confused by this as most of the builds call for adding all infusions. An Exquisite Jewel adds 25/15/15 stats vs the Infusion adding 5/-1 Dmg to the NPC’s.
Being new I assume there is good reason for this but I cant figure it out…..some one throw me bone?
Appreciated
Nice Lugh…… That’s a playstyle/build for him to work into
For Now – since he is mostly just learning I got him hooked up on a Full PVE Healer support build and will move him over to something like the above when he feels ready! I doubt anyone will mind that he is not adding any DPS as long as he is healing/buffing/cleaning
All – thx for the help!
LOL – Different game same boards when asking opinions about a build – Narrowed down now; he just played about 3 hours following the Zerg and really wants to be a buff bot healer guy.
So I guess the priority would go something like this:
Healing effectiveness
Tankiness
Group Boons
Escape/Mobility
Sacrificing whatever DPS makes sense
Heck for all I know he may be playing the wrong class!
Thanks again and Pura vida from Costa Rica
Thx guys – I just watched the Shout Trooper vid that seemed pretty versatile – but my son is not much used to the F2F engagements – is there a Staff/LB build that works or would he be sacrificing too much?
So my 13 year old son has decided to follow me over to GW2 from NWO and wants to play a Ranger/Druid. (I am playing a wvw Scout thief and could try Druid myself)
Neither of us are big PVE’rs and both are under/average in PVP – But WvW scouting is right up my alley for fun and play style to add team value.
So looking for a build for him that would work with keeping up with me and being able to avoid/disengage PvP fights as needed with stealth and Mobility. He is also more interested in support through healing then doing direct DPS.
Still totally new to GW2 and WvW so I don’t know exactly the right questions to ask; I hope the above is not to broad.
Any help appreciated -
Kash – Roger that and thx for the SS/IS trick
Little confused on the -
just take the usual D/P, Shortbow, Dash. S/D you need a pistol off hand on weapon switch for Stealth.
Plan on the D/P Shortbow….. S/D is the part that confuses me
New? Brand new to GW2 – OLD MMO Vet
Still average “at best” in PVP but above average in Team/Objective play. Know your role and play to your strengths!
Been watching a ton of videos …….. And liking the Scout/Camp taker role.
Moving forward with all the above mentioned suggestions…… Going to swap around and play abit with Acro while building up the hero points for DD.
Cheers,
Roger that guys!
Looks like I got enough to Start with – Appreciated
Thanks BlaqueFyer!
Still catching up on the acronyms – SA/Tr/DrD?
I understand most of the rest – Thx!
Hey guys -
Total PVP noob but have been enjoying the little bit of WvW I have tried. Back in ShadowBane I played a Scout and was pretty good at it – I could not kill anything but I scouted well
Simply, it was the best way I could help out the team since I suck at PvP.
Looking for scout builds it seemed a toss up between Mesmer and Thief but finally decided on thief since it looked like the profession that was best at avoiding actual fights.
Need help; looking for a build that will fill my Scouting play style.
So I guess speed and ability to disengage at will is the priority – followed up with enough DPS to take a camp solo? I see/read about stealth, evade and condition builds – is one of of those preferable over the others for my role?
Thx for all the help!
^^ Tactical retreat!
:)
Semper Fi
Ooops – Thx Babazhook! I just searched out some Stealth builds – Is that the “trapper build” as well?
Thanks again all -
I appreciate the positive and helpful feedback!
Looks like Thief is the right call for me – For the simple reason of “avoiding” fights.
So i am looking at a build for the “role” of “Pure Scout” – Which I have not been able to find. Though I did see some decent scouting videos to ensure that that is the Role I want to play.

As for a guild – Going to wait a few weeks and get at least “Not Awful” before applying
Thx again for all the help!
I will check those out first – thx guys
Hey Guys -
New to GW2 and just recently got a chance to play some wvw – loved it. Still learning how the point system and all that works but the question I have is build related for how I would like to play it. I simply do not PVP well at all, but I am good at strategy. Since WvW seems to be about capturing objectives to win….. I’m kind of liking that! What would be the the best class/build type if I were to just try and help my Team/Server out by simply trying to take over objectives and or acting as a Scout? ……. realizing that I simply am just not that good at PVP?
I played Shadowbane as a Scout for our guild and did it quite well – I could not kill hardly anything but I was a great scout
Thanks
