I think there are more people in a situation similar to yours, going back to the game and leaving, and giving it another shot, and leaving. I, for one, am wayyy past my 20h/day do-everything-the-game-offers-and-move-on-to-the-next-one times. If you want hardcore mainstream gaming, I cannot really help there, for being a casual, here are my thoughts:
Stay away from players who preach THE WAY TO PLAY THIS GAME, aka, the meta gospel. There are discussion on the forum as to why meta is god, meta is life and we should all embrace it, and lots of harcore gamers think that casuals just do not get it and they should all go play my little pony games. Different expectations, different priorities in game, casuals and hc players do not generally mix well.
What is the most entertaining part of the game for you? Coming from GW1, for example, I severely miss spending hours and hours offline designing builds, and then logging in to test them. That was what kept me playing GW1, and I still sometimes attempt it here, even though it never really works well (weapon bound skills Dx).
Like that cheesy player above me said, a good way to keep yourself entertained is to come up with your own challenges in the game.
After a while, different MMORPGs seem the same (at least to me, after years and years of playing as both a hardcore player and a casual gamer), and what keeps you from getting bored, is how you approach the game, and the people you play with.
Find a group that you actually like gaming with, and start coming up with interesting challenges, like running a dungeon naked, doing single-class runs, getting all your crafting maxed out, working together to equip each of you, one at a time, with ascended gear, do your own versions of speed runs where you try to beat your own times.
Of course, that means you need to be able to trust players you hang out with and that is very difficult to find, but comes with times. And there are plenty of people out there looking for the same things.
Finally, if nothing in the game is funny anymore, move on to a different game/hobby and don’t waste your time : )
bump for glory
I am happy to say that I had some replies to my post and have done very pleasant runs with like-minded people who are now on my to-whisp list, thanks guys : )
Would be great to hear from more players!
\o/
Thanks Seal, you mentioned the hard runs only because they are generally organised by YOU, admit it! : D
Hi guys
I am looking for people interested in doing relaxed non-meta-only, non-stacking-only, no-minAP-required dungeon runs [EU].
I have been trying to do dungeons daily, time permitting, and by now (through PUG and error) I have built a small list of pretty neat people I can whisp for a run. However, there is not always enough of us online and PUGing is such a hit and miss. A lot of people who join get upset with no stacking, die&leave instantly, and/or want to skip whatever they can, really ruining the group’s mood.
Soooo… I do not care which class, or which build you play, or how experienced you are, as long as you can (or want to learn to) manage your own character in a fight. Depending on the mood we can skip or stack (rather rarely), but mostly we just breeze though the content in the free mode, and if we wipe, we laugh it off and continue. If you are new, we can lead, and if you are experienced, share tips along the way.
Also starting/learning fractals!
Contact me here or in-game if you would like to be added to the list, and I will let you know whenever there is a dungeon planned : )
Thanks!

I fixed it by doing below. It worked for me.
- Adjusting collision sensitivity all the way to left. (FPS backed up from 15-ish to 60)
- Adjusting Field of View to get good balance of FoV vs FPS
Changing FoV had no effect, but lowering the collision sensitivity helpes, thanks for the tip ! :)
It is now at ~20FPS, so at least enough to make it playable.
For me, I always had really bad lagging issues, but the frames per second (fps) dropped drastically to the point where it is unplayable. All my settings are set on the lowest possible and have not changed since I started playing the game. I never had the highest fps to begin with, averaging around 8-10 frames per second or 5-7 depending on high activity in the PvE area. Now, after this recent update, I tried different areas to test the frame rates.
Kessex Hills used to be around 8 fps, now it’s 2-4, average 3 fps.
Sparkfly Fen, usually 7 fps, now it is 2 fps.
Lornar’s Pass, was 8 frames per second, now it is 2 fps.
Straights of Devastation was around 6 fps, now it is 2 fps and finally,
Wayfarer Foothills was around 10 frames per second, and it is now 2 fps.I also tried hiding the User Interface (UI) to see if there was any changes and the result is that I gained 1 fps at the most, if any. The Field of View (FoV) has not changed either.
As for a ‘solution’ to the problem, I have none, except to give Anet some time to work on it and see what the result is. Hopefully, the frame rates will go back to what they were before the update.
I am in the same boat, cannot play and none of the (temp) fixes help. I’ve got Intel HD 4400 graphics, not exactly impressive to begin with (between30-40FPS on average), but I could play without any issues up to now.
Eagerly waiting for Anet to sort this out : )
You should probably mention whether you are on NA or EU servers, to rule out incompatibility with enthusiastic respondents, and disappointment.
Done. Thanks for pointing that out: )
Roku, Seal, thanks for the response!
It appears that the forum does not have notification (or I disabled them without even noticing), so I thought my post was just left and forgotten.
I’ll PM you and yay, perhaps i will finally find a good suicidal squad : D
Ps. Seal, love the enthusiasm!
Hi guys, I am a returning player, and most of my in-game mates are long gone, so I am looking for a few people to roam the PvE world with. Both levelling and just travelling between maps, getting things completed.
I am no longer interested in power gaming, rushing dungeons for drops or doing all the dailies just for a reward, and that makes it difficult to find suitable gaming company.
What I am looking for are people who like trying new stuff, and have even the most ridiculous ideas, without getting upset about wipes when things go to hell. For example, doing dungeons with just one class, e.g. 5x mes, or 5xguard, or running around the map looking for the most picturesque/bizarre landscapes, or trying out new builds, or going on a killing spree and kill everything in an instance, without skipping, or just travelling from one place to another looking for an event. Obviously, the more gaming skills the more can be done.
Well, if that sounds like something you’d be into, whisp me (Anaex) and we’ll take it from there, cheers : )
Hey, I just saw your post.
I’ve recently bought a Thinkpad T440s for my uni work, and while I hoped it would run games, it was not my priority in the least. In any event, it runs GW2 just fine, I do not think the requirements on the game are that high. I am just getting back into the game, and I have not yet done any world boss fights, so not sure how the laptop will handle that, but…
this little moster, with extended battery, can give you >10h of battery life with matlab/netbeans/chrome/firefox/a few OOffice files open, and the build seems solid, my experience with thinkpads has been good. Super useful for uni.
The touchpad is a disaster, but I’ve seen the new models (T450s with broadwell) bring back the keys.
Anyways, I am happy with my laptop, and it runs GW2, so I thought I would share : )
