I already posted this in another thread, but felt it’s pertinent here.
Have two diff types of instances, one where you have to wait in line because you want to watch the fights in front of yours, and another where it’s solitary.
You don’t speak for the entire player base. And in general you shouldn’t make such sweeping generalizations.
In my experience, in one day of the event, people were getting into spectating. Players were cheering each other on in /s and doing emotes. If someone was having trouble with a boss, the people that were watching what they were doing and how they died would give advice or suggestions. In an overflow, I and a few others spent easily over an hour at a single dome, having a blast. Someone got Liandri and we had a little dance party. Those people added me to their friends lists.
To summarize, its working as intended. And my single experience, invalidates your entire generalization.
In fact, we learned something valuable recently that you should keep in mind…
during the election, the forums heavily favored Evon and the Abaddon Fractal. Yes, there were Kiel supporters also, but the Evon support was overwhelming. There were even threads based on how there would be no way Evon could lose because all of the events and rewards were skewed his way. There were screen shots of forum goers with stacks of Evon buttons that had used boosters. Despite all of that, Evon lost. The lesson there is that not only is the forum community smaller than it thinks it is, but it is also totally out of touch with what the majority of the player base thinks, wants and enjoys.Just because you don’t like it, it doesn’t mean no one does. Just because forum monsters are mad they cant rush through the gauntlet without interacting with anyone, doesn’t mean a large amount of users aren’t having fun with the spectation and social aspect of it.
It could’ve been better done. They can’t please everyone, so here’s the question each player has to answer for himself. Is the spectating worth the walk-time and wait-time caused by the artificial scarcity (having to wait in line for a spot in a fight instead of just creating another instance of it)? For me the answer is no. For you it could be yes, but that doesn’t mean they couldn’t have designed it better. Add a spectate mode. Add two diff types of instances, one where you have to wait in line because you want to watch the fights in front of yours, and another where it’s solitary. Give us the option. For me and the OP, I don’t care about other people’s fights. Don’t make me wait in line because other people enjoy it. It’s not a wvw queue. It’s a 1vs1 fight vs a cpu opponent.
Ah thanks, its working now.
BTW, how would you modify it if I wanna go with axe/horn and rifle with berserker gear?No modifying needed, you can use it just as it is or use the Vulnerability on crit trait instead of Crackshot.
For Greatsword, just switch out the Crackshot for the Greatsword trait (might on crit and 20% less CD) and the Warhorn trait for Shouts recharge 20% faster.
The 25 points in Arms are very versatile and grant you a good amount of damage with every weapon (bleed on crit and 10% more dmg on bleeding foes is awesome). The 15 in def and 30 in Tactics grant you good sustain combined with the benefits of 30% boon duration.
That’s why I say, you can make this build work like a charm with nearly every weapon, but imo works best with Sword/Warhorn, Greatsword and Axe/Warhorn.
What kind of armor would you run for greatsword? Berserker’s?
No…you don’t know if they lied yet. Read what they said:
If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game.
They only promised that items that take an unrealistic amount of time to acquire will not have statistical advantages. Now ask yourself, do you know that Ascended items will take an unrealistic time for most players to acquire? No, you don’t. For all we know, Ascended items may take around the same time to acquire as exotics.
Legendary items are clearly what they are talking about in the quote above. They actually DO take a ridiculous amount of time and dedication to acquire, and as they said, they are only differentiated by appearance.
So long as Ascended items can be acquired in a reasonable amount of time, then no promises have been broken.
Fair enough. Though, the way they had it set up, with exotics at the top on release and legendaries matching those stats, in addition to not announcing “there will be one more tier” until 2 months after the game came out is still, at the very least, misleading. If I had known there was going to be another higher tier that would be attainable without exotics just a few weeks away in the future, I would not have spent all that time getting exotics.
Personally, I don’t even understand why they need to introduce another tier at 80. Just make a new dungeon that give new skins, have the current legendaries as hard to obtain as they are now, and make new “legendaries” with other skins that are easier to obtain as well. So the current legendaries would be the FOW armor equivalent, and the new stuff is like Vabbi, etc. Why do they feel the need to increase the stats, even if they’re negligible? Let us infuse our current exotic armor to add the ascended protection mechanic, and just leave the numbers alone.
Why do they need to increase the numbers? If this is the final tier, like they say, it won’t appease the gear progression crowd. It just serves to piss off those of us who were led to believe we were going to keep the current tier of exotics until the next expansion, at least.
