Guild Wars 2

So here is my WvW experience; and from what I have seen on forums and the like online I am not alone so I am posting here to possibly help others like me.

I log in.

I have a few choices of directions to go and I am meet by a ghost (even though after hearing his voice i know who’s under the sheet… Wrex, from Mass Effect you can come out now, you’re not foolin’ anyone.)

I venture out into the land for a minute and there’s NO ONE around till I see enemies far off in the distance

aaaaannnddd

BANG!! I am jumped by 12 guys in ultra gear that do the exact same combat maneuvers as guy next to him; I here some bangin around and see some flashin lights and then I am left eating a staircase. (which the game is nice enough to give me a view of in 360 degrees)

Now, I am all for this game mode; in fact I was eagerly awaiting it. I tried several times before I started looking for others that had similar experiences. But seriously folks, if this is a team oriented format, why make it so difficult to rally a team? It is a ghost town when I log in. Why dont I spawn close to some sort of action or into a team needing help? If joining the action and helping my server win is easier than I am finding please let me know.

Lastly, I would like to be fair and mention that I am on a very low pop server (Eredon Terrace) and we are losing to Blackgate by over 450,000 points but if that is any sign of how things will be when this thing resets I have no interest in being a part of that sort of unbalanced gameplay. I like a challenge but come on. LOL

The control panel is the most convenient, but when it doesn’t work, sometimes you’ve just got to delete all the files and entries associated with something (or I do). Some programs like CCleaner (free thing for generally getting junk off your computer) can do it as well I think, which is probably more convenient than manually finding all this stuff. For some reason I never think of that until after though…

Aint that the way it always goes LOL I really appreciate all the help!

Have you tried repair? (as recently described here)

Or deleting files & registry entries and installing? Maybe even just installing without uninstalling at all (lazy but I use it to fix things sometimes).

Thats actually a great idea haha I didnt try that. I will now. Is there a better way to uninstall the program other than through control panel?

you didn’t happen to relocate my documents to said external drive, did you?

I did actually… but by accident (I moved instead of copied, yikes) but I realized that might be the problem and moved it back over… so the file path above is where I am at now…

I tried uninstalling it with and with out the drive connected…. blargh! LOL That same pesky error

Just for reference, here is my current file path.

Nut shell:

I installed GW2 recently and found that for some reason, I can only play the game if an external HD is connected. I need the game to work without it as the hard drive in question is not mine.

When I try to play the game without it, the error message attached states it can not locate the local.dat file and for me to be sure it is accessible and writable… after much frustration and tech support tickets telling me to download graphic card drivers I don’t need I am forced to post this. To play along I did as they requested but I can assure that my computer’s hardware has NOTHING to do with this issue. When the game is running is runs perfectly.

Lastly, I have tried uninstalling the game but the same error message pops up and I get nowhere. I am thinking if i re install the game, it will root the file in it’s proper place the next go-round.

Please help. Thank you!
