Same issue. This is terrible. Help Anet?
For our first 50 bucks for GW2 we got 25 playable zones, and that does not even include PvP or WvW.
Looking back to GW1, each expansion was a stand alone campaign in itself. Also, each of the first 2 expansions added 2 new classes.
If, for our next 50 bucks (more if you pre-ordered a premium package), we only get a handful of playable areas, along with the one new class, I will be sorely disappointed. Frankly I will feel robbed.
I am counting on ANet to be consistent in what they call an expansion.
That was of course my assumption too; but why would they make a point about rewards then when we all know we can’t keep them? Seems odd.
From the beta weekend release by ANet:
“To go along with this, we’ll be turning on our map bonus reward system for beta characters only, helping players get a feel for how we’ll keep the core game world relevant and rewarding with the release of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.”
As was said, we will be able to play beta characters in the existing world as well as the beta maps. Should we assume, like in the past that we will not be able to keep any rewards? Or since they are making a point of it does that mean this time we can?
Additional map rather than replacement?

Overall, I have to say I am excited to see how the map plays with organized groups on an organized server. It was a bit too difficult to really get a sense of the game play for an actual WvW match as it was simply too chaotic, especially at the start.
The potential I see in the map is that in many ways it will present a greater challenge. Strategic use of terrain will be more important than ever. Where to hide, where to defend, where to attack— essentially, it seems, that for this map, we will need to alter the way we go about WvW. The same old thing we have been doing for years isn’t necessarily going to work. So the question is, will we as WvWers be able to adapt, and, more importantly, will enough of us want to?
Also, coming from a T1 WvW server, I know my server can populate 4 maps, but how will this borderland play with less populated servers?
Ultimately, as my thread title suggests, what I really wonder about is the viability of this map as a replacement for the existing borderland maps. One map like this is HUGE and a ton of confusing, convoluted space to cover. Three is a daunting idea. Why do all three borderlands need to be identical? Why not mix it up? EB, Alpine Borderland, Desert Borderland, etc.
I understand the need for competitive balance, but if one map gives what some might call a competitive advantage to the server that controls it, then why not utilize that as a tool for evening out matches, so that the same server in each tier doesn’t continue to dominate all the time because of better coverage through all time zones.
Just some thoughts.
Beware phishing emails in game. I have gotten two in two days. Both signed by “GM” followed by a person’s name. Searching the name in player search gives user names that are random combinations of letters. The emails warn of account deactivation if you don’t go to a web address to verify. Be on the lookout!

Thanks for the replies… I will look for the goats again and see if I can find the pattern. I will also try to adjust my screen settings for contrast. I am just not making anything out at all. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked, lol.
Post script: Thanks again for the replies. Adjusted video settings some and was able to see a bit better. Enough to find the pattern in the goats. Finished the achievement not long ago. Very difficult, but yes, doable. Thanks again.

Ok. I have no problem with the content being difficult. They are achievements after all, and meant to be tough.
I am currently trying to get to Moto’s finger, the last item I need for the Enchantment achievement. This is the first time in all the content where I feel like skill of the player makes no difference. I can do everything perfectly and still be knocked to my death repeatedly by flying mountain goats. You hear them coming, but can’t see them.
Then, if you are finally able to get lucky enough to survive the flying goats, you need to make a series of jumps onto disintegrating clouds that cannot be distinguished from the incessant fog.
There were some really difficult spots in SAB one where I died countless times and wanted to pull out my hair—NEVER did I feel like my skill couldn’t get me past. I felt like there was always something for me to figure out and do. This seems random and nearly sadistic.
I am trying to give you guys at A-Net the benefit of the doubt, but seems curious that this one is SO much more difficult now that there is a real world money Gem Store item people can buy if they die too much.
I really hope that’s not the idea. Get people hooked, and then get them to open their wallets because players are certain to fail.
Me too. Problem solved.
So I just went in in infantile mode and ran to the log. All 5 baubles are there. I guess all of us who did it during the glitch are going to have to do it again.
Patch notes say they fixed a bug on BACHELOR of baubles, which was not glitched for me. Hoping it was Master they fixed and the patch note is the mistake.
Same here. Done it twice, following Dulfy’s guide. The fifth bauble on the log is missing. Spent hours on those two runs tonight. Please fix A-Net. And how about retroactively awarding the achievement instead of making all we poor souls do it again?
