Get your fashion fix.

I <3 Anet, truly ;p ty, guys!
This thread is about the same thing, and this video: https://youtu.be/2N6JMW0i3Yg is the match I was in.
There are more than I noticed last season. Just had a match with a necro appearing and disappearing at will between far, mid, home, spawn, wherever. Not even masking it, brazen as can be. He was on my team, too, btw. Reported for botting and blocked, moving on and fingers crossed its an isolated thing.
The Legendary Look
The allure of the Legendary pieces can’t be denied and devising the perfect ensemble to show them off in clever and unique ways is the focus of this month’s fashion contest. Break out your Legendary and have some fun! Or craft the perfect armor set in celebration of your favorite. We want to see your Legendary Ensemble in its best light, so be sure to pay close attention to your screenshots and presentation. This contest is a little different from the previous ones, so read on for more details.
In addition to this subreddit contest, we will be co-hosting a fashion show with the ultimate fashion guild, How Do I [look]. Details as I get them straightened out! Look for this event to fall the Saturday after the contest deadline and to take place at the [look] guild hall in NA (since this is where I’m running atm, though plans for the future include EU events, too! The devil is in the details and as soooooon as we get them worked out, I’ll update!)

Enter the title as follows: [Wintersday] Name of your Character (this should be close or the same as you’ve named it at gw2style.com). Enter the URL for the gw2style page for your look. Hit submit. Go back to your post and underneath the title are a bunch of options, the last of which is “flair”. Pick “Contest” from the list, hit save.

The Jungle Provides…Fashion Contest
This month its time to dig deep, be brave and venture into the wilds of the Maguuma Jungle. And looking good, or dangerous, or adventurous, as you explore these new lands is, of course, the most important part of any endeavor. Create the best ensemble, with old skins or new, to fit the Jungle theme and win gold and prizes!

The Rules:
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Mad King’s Masquerade Costume Contest. There were 61 entries in the end, about three times the number I’d hoped for! So wow! Everyone likes to dress up for Halloween, its true!
Now, we have two winners to announce, the Popular Pick, which was determined by the upvotes within the Reddit. And the Judges’ Pick which was jointly selected after careful review of all the entries. We struggled to come up with a top five, then a top three, and then the winner….the struggle was real. Attention to things like unique armor choices and cohesive dye choices won the day in the end.
So the Mad King Winners are:
Judges Pick: Return of the Kurz Witch by /u/lithilliumn
Popular Pick: The Butcher by /u/InwarNoglory
Come on by to check out the winners…AND November’s Fashion Contest is officially underway, so stop on by to have a look-see at all the Fashionable People…after all, The Jungle Provides….
We’re over 50 entries so far, but there’s still plenty of time to enter! Come on by and remember to upvote your favorites for the “Popular Pick”.
If you haven’t really invested yet, and you aren’t in a rush, it might be smartest to wait and see how the new meta pans out after HoT launches, within a few days or weeks there may be all new gear sets that are considered “best”.
If you must have some thing NOW, then it depends slightly on whether you want to play pve or another game mode.
For PVE, zerk eles are the norm, mostly staff, but with several other weapon sets, too. For dungeon/fractal type things, DnT’s posts are very instructional to at least get you started. Most focus on power, very few condi, though anything is doable.
The Mad King’s Masquerade Costume Contest
Time to challenge your creativity and create a look fit for the Mad King’s Masquerade! You are invited to come up with your best Mad King Masque-themed look, wow the judges and win Gold and Transmutation Charges!
The Rules:
*One entry per race per gender per person. One person can enter multiple times, but each set must be unique.
*Use GW2 Style to present your entry. Other venues will not be considered. Post in https://www.reddit.com/r/GuildWarsDyeJob/ once you’ve set up your look at GW2 Style. Format your post to lead with [Mad King] and be sure to add “contest” flair.
*No “Outfits” allowed. (This means no use of Raiment of the Lich, regardless of how awesome your dye job.)
Things to Know:
*There will be two winners – One selected by three appointed judges and one by “popular vote”. Popular vote will be determined by the number of upvotes at /r/GuildWarsDyeJob/.
*Presentation matters! Take care with your screenshots, both location and composition. Remember the theme of the contest – the spookier, the better! While this is not a screen shot competition, a well-crafted screenie is going to please the Judges’ eyes.
*Graphic enhancements such as SweetFx are not encouraged.
*Since this is the Mad King’s MASQUERADE, ensembles featuring a mask will get extra attention! Not required for entry, but lets see some eye-catching looks with masks, okay???
Deadline:
Friday, October 30th at 12pm EST. Here’s your countdown clock.
Prizes:
Judges Pick: 50g and 5 Transmutation Charges
Popular Pick: 25g and 5 Transmutation Charges
Both Judges’ Pick and the Popular Pick will be granted “Contest Winner” user flair and be featured here in this sticky as Winners until next month’s contest.
Good luck and have fun!

Over on the GW2 Fashion subreddit (/r/GuildWarsDyeJob/) we are hosting a costume contest and we would sure love to see as many spooky and creative entries as possible…come see ;p It’s not an in-game event, exactly, but I KNOW many of us will be showing off our creations in Lions Arch.

Anyone that is comparing the so-called “grind” required for ascended gear in GW2 has not truly played games like Tera or Archeage, at a minimum (certainly there are a million others) where the grind is REAL. Where you can’t do diddly and are one shot easily without good gear.
Stop grasping at threads and searching for every reason to fuss and whine like a baby without his binky.
GW2 is fun. There are a million aspects to the game in which to either earn or craft ascended or luck into drops. I played wvw since launch, took a 6 month hiatus, came back and have played pve almost exclusively and with only a recent exception, worked full time and had at most 2-3 hours a night to get this gear. The drops and the gold is out there to make ascended within reach. Do some work and figure out what things most appeal to you—and no, they may not be your favorite things, but they will accomplish your goal—and do these things until you get the gear you need.
I’m SO OVER the every child gets a trophy mentality, the everything should be for everyone INSTANTLY mentality. Please. Just stop.
For me, Anet, you are aiming at exactly the right goal. I LOVE that there will be content that requires a little work to be able to try. Yeah, people are going to work out the mechanics and we’ll all be dancing around those raid bosses in just our panties eventually, but the idea that Anet has a significant challenge-focused venue aimed at people who have put some effort into the game makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
So, please, please, Anet, do not cave to this pressure.
tl;dr: Too many whiners too often ruin the fun/joy of accomplishment for everyone.
Anet has a perfectly respectable example already in place with regard to how to make events such as this appeal to a broad audience: Silverwastes. Yes, there will be those who rip and shred SW, but it has a beginning, a middle and an end (which all processes should have to satisfy our predisposition to such things psychologically). SW offers a game process for those who like such things, as well as a farm for things like gold, mats, assorted loot for people who aren’t in a position to purchase/won’t purchase, karma/exp for those wanting that…and it delivers them with a frequency that satisfies our short attention spans.
I’m no developer, but in my mind, the Blooms would play out something like how the Bandit Crests are delivered now, little bits here and there based on your contributions and “bonuses” at the end of a full cycle.
And all griping aside, I am a genuine GW2 fan and my disappointment in this event isn’t pushing me away or going to change my choices when it comes to HoT. It’s my own fault for being too involved in other things to get the skins when you first put them out there lol. (but whannnnnh!!! I so wanted those skins, and you’re holding them just out of my reach!)
So, much respect, Gaile, for always being at the front dealing with our wrath and thanks for the update.
There are books written here, so don’t want to add another version, but I’m so vastly disappointed for the first time with ANet, I can’t NOT post something….
The reward structure on this event is heart-wrenching in levels of disappointment. As has been stated, the time:reward ratio is insultingly weak.
What’s baffling is why would you guys not even offer a hint of consistency? Why reinvent the wheel when you have a perfectly valid reward structure in Silverwastes? Why not carry it over to this event? Its seems kinda a no-brainer…
Aim an event at lowbies and then offer no incentive to participate, no loot to benefit them, no xp, no karma. Make an event to please people who missed rewards from previous events, but make the blooms so time-gated as to be impossible to achieve with any rational playstyle…someone already said this, too, but it rings loudly in my mind: GG, Anet, you brought us an event disappointing to old and new players alike.
Had just finished a match, was being moved out, crashed, and now can’t relog…same results as above when I try.
Question out of curiosity…I recently wanted to try the Gnarled Walking Staff, which I had used very briefly within the first few months of GW2 launch, but had not used in a very very long time. I assumed it would be unlocked in my wardrobe, but it’s not. Why would this be? I have the heritage and assorted armor pieces and other bits, but not this staff?
Quite a few(T1) guilds stay in there tier because they have a player base that reaches around the world. If they were to move to lets say T2-below those players that are not in the prime time slot, it would be PVD…
Also. Guilds get familiar with the rival guilds they become friends(sumtimes not) and like to challenge one another
There is more reasons of course… But you get the picture
DN moved for essentially this reason…we were not loving our situation, so looked around for better options. Considered t2, but the limited play time was not appealing to many of our members, so we needed to stay in t1. We wanted stability and the ability to antagonize as many guilds as possible, so that’w why we chose what/where we chose.
Moving servers is not the big deal that it once was. For many people, loyalties are to their guilds, not necessarily a server. This is can be somewhat flame-worthy to some, but it’s also the reality within the current wvw system.
Sorry to bump an old thread, but saw the DN and thought an inside perspective was warranted.
Many thanks to everyone who came…we hit the 250 cap on TS!! Sorry for anyone who had issues getting in early on…we hoped for a good turnout, but so many so fast…that was impressive.
Special thanks to Jericho, Indevar, Diviniya, Gismor, Enigma (And James, Odinzu and Intigo) for agreeing to be on the panel and to Parver, Aneu, and Sacrx for joining us last minute. We were thrilled to have such an illustriuos panel for our first GvG Workshop!
And big thanks to all people who piled in and piped up with questions. Thanks for making it a success!
Update:
The speaker panel is finalized as below:
[Agg] Jericho
[ARK] Diviniya
[EP] Odinzu
[HB] Gismor
[LaG] Enigmm
[NS] Indevar
[TE] James
This starts at 4p EST in this TS: gvg-workshop.teamspeak3.com
Hope to see you there!
If you’re a necro, and know your class, we should chat.
Scyp, I feel like your post is code for, “Hey, Amelia, we’d like you guys to consider Beren.”
We currently have a solid core of 20-25 people who raid 5-7 nights a week, but real life demands are limiting the availability of our main driver. Raid times are during NA Prime or approximately 5pm PST to 8pm PST (or later).
About us:
[DN] is a hardcore WvW guild on Tarnished Coast. We pride ourselves on running smaller numbers (~20-25) vs the larger hordes of BG and JQ. You’ll rarely see us back down from a fight as we cement our position as one of the top fighting guilds on the Tarnished Coast. But while we may be a hardcore guild, the overall goal is to have as much fun as possible.
What we can offer:
-To be a part of an established guild with skilled players and a common goal of being competitive in a highly competitive environment
-Increasingly active NA GvG
-Enthusiastic and supportive community
-The determination to improve ourselves through active team play
About you:
We are looking for an experienced driver ready to step in at a moment’s notice, in addition to regularly scheduled lead responsibilities several times a week. This person should bring enthusiasm and have the confidence to assume command when called upon. This driver will be prepared to give and receive criticism of both their play and the team. This driver should recognize that DN is a fighting guild first and foremost and not become distraught over ppt concerns. Of course, some of the best fights come around ppt objectives, so an understanding of map dynamics is essential.
What you should offer:
-Extensive knowledge of classes
-Level 80 Heavy
-Availability – Be able to lead raids several nights a week and otherwise available most nights and able to contribute continuous playtime without interruption
-Competitive nature
-Experience as a GvG driver welcomed, but not required.
If this appeals to you, please apply at http://digitalnemesis.enjin.com/home and we’ll get back to you ASAP. Or whisper Getting Hammered / Avenge.1478 or Amelia Syleste / Amelia Brigita.3940. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
No longer in need of an ele, but could still use a guardian or two. Always the guardians. They like a lot of attention, seems.
One super special ele needed. Guardians, you, too.
You get to abuse Hammered as much as you want and work with a group of great people. It’s a win win.
Have a well-equipped Guardian? We’re still looking…
Still in the market for another guardian or two….
List of classes needed:
Guardians: 4
Warriors: 3
Necros: 2
Thieves: 1
Eles: 0
Mesmers: 0
Engineers: 0
Rangers: 0Extra special love for Charr Guardians and Norn Warriors.
Updated….only looking for 2 more guardians, 2 warriors and 1 necro.
Unless you’re super awesome or have a nice accent. Then you should contact me immediately for special consideration ;p
We are actively recruiting Warriors and Guardians…if you’re curious about potentially transferring, chat me up ;p
Still looking for a couple of effective and talented warriors, guardians and necros.
I’m less friendly to eles, but Rall prolly wants one of those, too.
We have fun. Really. Tons.
But could use a few more heavies….
:p
Agg/NS is by far my favorite to fight.
SF, ONS, and EE are also much fun. CHOO is a powerhouse, so is DN. FEAR and RET are also solid, and it will be interesting to fight them when SoR hits T2.
Adding votes for Agg and OnS.
FEAR and RET both moved servers, so you don’t have to wait for SOR to drop to find them…but their absence simply leaves room for other guilds to step up and shine.
