You clearly didn’t think this leveling concept through to the end.
Here I am, spamming LFG for almost an hour looking to find members to fill up the ranks of our guild group.
But nobody can be found because everyone is stuck at a different level and nobody feels like investing 1 hour or more just so a group can catch up to his level.
I mean the only way you are going to progress through this Dungeon is by having the exact same people on at the exact same time, with no room for deviation…at which point you might as well be raiding.
What a poorly conceived concept, really.
’nough said. So much for revolutionizing the MMO genre.
Don’t misunderstand me Ostricheggs, I’m not saying PvP itself is flawed at all, all I’m saying is the downed state isn’t that fun in PvE, can be a pain in WvW when no matter how hard you hit a fellow if he’s got lots of friendlies around he will still get up, and definitely unpleasant in PvP.
Anet probably wanted to make players help each other and work together with this concept, and I’m certainly not going to criticize them for it, too many games out there make the man next to you your enemy (raw material nodes, loot, experience from kills…) but I believe what they came up with doesn’t work, and that short experience in PvP proved it further for me.
Well, I believe you’re right guys, I need much more practice to better understand how it works and learn how to deal with it. No doubt about it. And thank you Hackks for your constructive reply. Truth is I’ve have always found this downed state system annoying as hell, just doesn’t feel right to me. Not that a game must be realistic, but a player fighting lying on the ground is beyond me, especially if it can take away most of my 20K+ hitpoints in a matter of a few seconds. I’d much rather have traditional healing mechanics than this so-called revolutionary concept which is central to our gaming experience as we spend most of our time fighting. I guess it’s just disappointment after disappointment, being unable to do anything else in PvE and that experience in PvP, not the concept of PvP itself, but the whole healing/ downed state system… I love the game in many ways, I’m growing weary of the combat/ healing concept and that PvP game crowned it all for me. Pretty sure I’m not the only one to feel the same.
I’m mostly a PVE player, I enjoy leveling and venturing into dungeons with friends or even PUGs. Since fractals have made it really hard to get into “old” dungeons and that the lack of LFG tool makes things even worse (not to mention I haven’t started fractals with everyone else and now I only see people doing fractals level 5 and above which leaves me behind with none to do; whoever invented that system wasn’t in his right mind…) I decided to give PvP a try.
Got into silent of the desert storm, pretty cool map, I was actually excited to participate. I fought against a few guys till I got that Mesmer down. Was about to finish him, he vanished, threw some pebbles at me (or whatever spell he used), vanished again, threw some more pebbles and nearly got me down…
I really didn’t like the down state in PVE, no true healer class but everyone is a healing class in disguise. I learned to do with it somehow, though disappointed.
But that experience in PVP… one man in downed state who almost got me killed ridiculously fast and got a second chance even though I had him … I’d lol if it wasn’t so sad.
Pretty much through with PVE as it is now, definitely through with PVP, won’t play WvW as long as the clipping is not fixed… Good thing there’ no subscription, I would have terminated it by now.
Finding a group before FotM wasn’t always easy and could be time consuming.
Finding a group now is becoming increasingly difficult and can become a real pain.
Spending 2 hours in LA spamming the chat to get a group together to finally give up is not my definition of a fun game.
We NEED an LFG tool of some sort. I’m not wasting my time any more.
For now I’m going to bump this up a bit and sticky it for a while.
How about a LFG system in game instead? Should have been there from the start. It’s even more obvious now with fractals, it’s a pain to get a group together.
Couldn’t have said it better. I feel forced to stick to my warrior and leave my thief behind, which is a shame
