Thanks you very much for your answers, I do appreciate your help and I expressed my finding here (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/PU-roaming-builds/first).
I would like to answer to OP (Fermi) but I waited so long because I shared his same doubts and I wanted to play a couple of weeks before adding my opinion here.
I’m an average or below average player skill-wise and I still try to learn the nuances of this game so I think my point of view may be interesting for other players who have a limited playing time.
Anyway, based on my noob experience I completely agree with Pyro, if you plan to be a lone roamer, a PU condition build (kind of the one Pyro posted here) it’s the best way to go.
It gives you a better chances to survive 1v2 (I don’t even dare to fight 1 v3…) because it’s not hard to keep producing clones and you have very good defense with scepter/torch and staff.
When I run a phantasm or hybrid PU I’m better 1v1 but I die pretty quick when I face a couple of enemies at once and if they are vaguely skilled they kill my phantasms in a hurry.
One important note, I used Undead runes for my condi build and Privateer for my power/hybrid because I couldn’t afford Perplexity/Traveler’s.
In conclusion, I settled for a Blackwater PU condi build but don’t assume that you are going to faceroll your enemies, you are still going to die a lot 1v2 if you are not a good player but you usually have long enough fights to have fun
Thank you all for your answers but I was looking for something different
Let my try again.
Do you think it makes sense to run a PU build using a high (1900+) Power stat with some Condition Damage (400? 500? More?) or this is simply a worst build than a straight Power build like the one posted (http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fhAQNAR8alknpRtlpxYNcrRiqxY6XSplT1EpCokdsNA-T1CFwAy3fIlaEKVihVJIgHAggLAASlHoUdxxRAItuhFHEASBAzEA-w) by BlackDevil?
Hello!
I came back to my mesmer and I’m still trying to pick my build, so I’d like to know if any fellow mesmer has been playing the original BlackDevil hybrid phantasm PU build (http://intothemists.com/guides/1793-phantasm_hybrid_20) during the last months and/or if you think it’s still viable.
I noticed his latest build looks like a straight power PU build, basically neglecting Condition Damage and I’m quite curious to know if it’s clear that a Power/Condition setup is not viable because it’s underperforming. Right now I run a classic Blackwater and I would like to try a power PU but my problem is that I don’t have enough money to buy Runes of Perplexity or of the Traveler, hence I would be glad to get any sort of advice!
Anyway, using a Q/A format:
A) Is a PU build using Condition Damage and Power equipment to be avoided because straight full power or full condition damage PU builds are better?
Thanks alot!
Edit:
Gameplay Environment is solo roaming WvW.
Typo corrections.

Hello! I’m back playing my mesmer after a pretty long hyatus and I checked this thread looking for an update on this nice build. I found it but I’m bit… suprprised.
Your last one basically doesn’t have any condition damage and it looks more like a PU Power build and not like an hybrid one. Is the link the correct one?
If so than I would really like to know what are the reasoning behind this important change.
Thanks

Thank you very much for your help, Filterkat, now I have something to work with
Hello again,
I found an old thread (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/BUILD-Boon-Tank-Ranger-BTR-Variations/first) that maybe may answer my previous question above and I would like to know if these builds are still viable for solo WvW Roaming or if they have to be tuned a bit after latest major patch.
Thank you!
I’ve been following this thread with interest because I plan to start working a my ranger next week (WvW solo roaming only).
Regen and Trap builds have already been posted (thanks, Prysin and Warriorjrd) so it would be much appreciated if somebody could post a Full Glass Cannon build and a Condition build (assuming the Trapper build posted it’s not a conidtion build itself). I’ve found some builds around but I’m not sure they come from a reliable source and I don’t have lots of gold to spend, so I would prefer to avoid any mistake…
Thanks in advance!
Invest in travaler runes if you can and aim for roaming, it fill several builds needs, both hidden Cat and ghost works well….
Good morning,
I’m back to GW2 and I’ve got limited funds (kind of the user you already answered to above) to invest so I would like to know what build you suggest me to use for WvW solo roaming only.
Also, provided I have enough gold, do I have to replace Rune of Balthazar with rune of Traveler?
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thank you very much for your answers, now I have to test them on the field
I’ve managed to play this build for a few days and I have a lot of problems when I have a fight with D/P Thief, the current most played build with condition removal on stealth and hard hitting Backstab. Do you guys have any hints besides running away?
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: After further research I realized that the boots also are available in the Mists, I apologize.

Hello Folks,
I’m quite new to this game and I just reached 80 but I leveled using this build, playing a bit in the Mists too. Now I’m trying to get the suggested equip, starting with my exotic armor pieces, yet I’m not able to find the boots… Are they only available with dungeons tokens?
Thanks in advance!

The game is no longer playable to me, sadly I’m serious.
