I have to agree. Guild Wars 2 can be very rewarding if you simply stand in Lions Arch for a few hours. All these achievements, stories, gear, etc…they’re all just nonsense. The REAL game is how long you can stand in one spot and do nothing.
Sarcasm, huh?
No, they should totally make all gear, stories, achievements, etc. accessible for everyone. Especially the achievements, make them easy so everyone can complete them. Why should you need to achieve anything (‘difficult’) to get achievement points, why the very thought of it is maddening.
And yes, the only 2 options are: completing all achievements or just standing in LA. kitten-de-kitten .
Edit; I can’t believe you guys are censoring h€rp and d€rp.

Honestly, I google searched ReeferKeeper the first hit is a Twitter page, about weed and getting stoned. Not that it matters.
I don’t think I’m grasping straws and I’m certainly not frustrated, I believe I’m making a valid point by showing the word is being used in a variety of situations where it’s not offensive at all. ReeferKeeper could be interpreted as someone who keeps cannabis. In the case of a binomen there’s no room for such interpretation, that’s the whole point behind binomial nomenclature, the only meaning for Hyoscyamus Niger is Henbane there is no hidden, offensive undertone.
Great! Good for you that you’re having ‘fun’ with this situation. But there’s no need for ad hominems. You don’t have to imply that I’m a baby, crying or ignorant.
Insert pseudo-witty remark here
Oh, come on this is ridiculous. First of all the name has been in use for over 5 months, I haven’t met a single player that took offense to the name.
Second, why should we be prohibited to use a name that may refer to following things;
- the country Niger
- the river Niger
- the state Niger in Nigeria
- the scientific name of a plant.
Especially when it’s clear that the word doesn’t have a negative connotation, in it’s current context. You know a Sylvari, a plant human named after a plant.
Besides Niger is used a lot as a cognomen. Romans used it as part of their names for Pete’s sake.
And third where do we draw the line;
I’ve been thinking about the name; Chenopodium Album another binomen. However as we all immediately can see Chenopodium resembles the word gonopodium, which is the intromittent organ of some species of fish. Which could be deemed offensive. And I don’t want to breach the very specific naming policy for a second time. /sarcasm
The game suddenly prompted me to change the name of one of my characters, a character I hade made and named since the headstart. The character name in question is Hyoscyamus Niger, the binomen for henbane or stinking nightshade.
The ‘Niger’ part without context, might hint toward or resemble the racial slur, however it’s quite obvious that in this context, that it’s the Latin word for dark, black.
So I really don’t understand why I’m being forced to change the name when it doesn’t breach any of the rules in the naming policy.
Yes, it is possible to solo with an ele.
Just keep trying, or ask someone to help.
Naoya.5973Andy, actually I can’t do the hard jumps also ;D I’m a very bad player, so your theory is all wrong.
The big characters blocking the view is fake difficulty because I bet ANet didn’t thought “So, let’s make it a lot harder for every race except Charrs and Norns because they are cooler!”. If they did they have SERIOUS problems.
Question answered?
Try to do it with a Norn or a Charr, believe me it’s still hard. There’s a reason Charr and Norn tend to die in the first part of this puzzle.
On what parameters are you guys differentiating between ‘true’ and ‘fake’ difficulty. Because most of the time it tends to be the hard jumps are fine because I can do them —> true difficulty
Characters are blocking my view, I can’t cope with this —> fake difficulty.
Don’t blame the charr for your lack of skill.
Part 2 of the scavenger hunt is do-able with lower level characters. I completed it on my lvl 31 alt. Without anyone actively helping me, without dying. Just keep alert, avoid combat, get ready to dodge. The zones around the ghosts are cleared of enemies if you’re playing on one of the more busier times of the day.
That being said, Arenanet shouldn’t spend any time on self-imposed rules. That’s just silly, certainly when those self-imposed rules can contradict the self-imposed rules of other people.
magicweaver.2695Do I think it is a good/hard puzzle?
No.
The other jumping puzzles, you had to use some actual brain power, think about where your goal was and work out a maze. This puzzle is nothing like that and the majority of the posters who are against changing it saying it’s good actually make my point for me. They say “it’s about memorizing the jumps”. That isn’t a jumping puzzle. That’s grinding!
Disagree, puzzles come in varieties. Solving this one requires you utilizing the shortest path to make it. It’s a puzzle just as much as Griffonrook Run is a jumping puzzle.
magicweaver.2695Make a solo instance for those of us who want the “achievement” which doesn’t have the mist and in exchange no reward chests.
magicweaver.2695As I said, this would give the people who WANT the bragging rights the chance to keep their bragging rights.
Disagree, the achievement is there for the people who actually completed the jumping puzzle. If you want to add an easier version it would make more sense to give the easier version the chest, but not the achievement. That way everyone can enjoy the rewards of Halloween and those that complete a challenge actually get the achievement. Doing it the other way around makes no sense.
kagejuin.4713obviously the majority of idiots trying to convince me I should grow up and get better are the little kids on the forum. People with psychological problems who need to play a game where they can feel good about themselves. Not me.
Hmm, starting off with an ad hominem filled with offensive talk, a thrilling start.
kagejuin.4713The level fails and is badly designed because there are different phases of how difficulty should scale, or how to keep something entertaining even if it IS hard.
Starting with the conclusion, fine. Let’s see the reasoning behind this.
kagejuin.4713at the very very start it’s easy. then there is a forced pause. Never in my life have I had a forced pause in a timed event in any other platformer. What is this? artificial difficulty? forcing me to fail?.
Clearly, you haven’t played enough platformers in your life. Some of the most famous platformers include ‘forced stops’ followed by a timed jump that needs to be done in a certain time such as some of the Mario games or where getting a good time was optional such as the Sonic games.
kagejuin.4713After that is the ‘1st’ section where everyone fails, also known as the hardest section: you cannot stop moving forward and there are alot of precise jumps. if you cannot keep going forward while jumping you will die here.
kagejuin.4713
That’s a matter of opinion, I honestly only died a few times in the part your describing.
kagejuin.4713the second section, because I HAVE been to youtube, is easy as crap. huge platforms, alot of walking, one small block. so what?. Then you need to jump down. Also easy. Whatever comes after this is so easy, that I feel they should have switched this puzzle around. let us start with part 2 and 3 and then get to part 1.
that way you feel a sense of progress as the puzzle gets harder and harder right before the end. It makes people rage alot less.
as it stands now I can finish the puzzle if I could do it alone, and if the pauze would be removed.
Again, this is a matter of opinion. I disagree, I died a lot in the second part. The jumps are not as easy as they seem and it’s quite stressful ’cause you still are getting chases by the rising ooze/goo/poision.
kagejuin.4713I am not an avid PC gamer, I don’t go around doing 360 quick scopes in CoD. I am more of a console gamer. I cannot keep running forward and change my mouse direction in an instant and have it be aligned properly.
You’re not a PC gamer but this is a PC game, I’d suggest you get better at using the mouse/keyboard. (PS; I hate games like CoD and tend to avoid them because they’re filled with whining 14 year old boys and CoD is casual as gently caress) I’m also more of a console gamer, so that’s not a good excuse.
kagejuin.4713My computer has framerate issues so whenever there are all those people it drops to about 10, which forces me to confirm my landing, which again is impossible with a huge crowd.
…
……
Get a better PC

those kids who made it through? I am sure some deserve an applause, but certainly not those elitist pricks who do nothing but grief. they spam say, they spam pets and speed boons to distract you or make you miss jumps and then laugh about how they did make it.
they give 0 constructive criticism.
Agreed, anyone who harasses another player during the jumping puzzle can gently caress himself. However the part about ‘elitists’ giving 0 percent constructive criticism is BS.
kagejuin.4713Arenanet: I just gave you the bottlenecks and some solutions i.e.: remove the forced wait, make it a solo instance, or shift the puzzle so part 1 comes at the end.
Disagree, the wait and the people are part of the challenge. The 2nd part is harder.
However; give everybody a costume so that there is no height differences, remove traits upon entrance, remover banners.
kagejuin.4713That way I could gladly keep trying.
Nobody gives a gently caress wether you keep trying or give up.

Hermes.7014If it was that easy as cakewalk then why so many people seem to be having an hard time completing it?
There the whole point of a seasonal event is being missed. It has to be fun for everyone.
Are the other halloween events any less fun because you can’t complete the jumping puzzle? No
Are the other halloween events any more fun because you can complete the jumping puzzle? No
’Sides if the event is supposed to be fun for everyone it should also be enjoyable by
those who like to complete a difficult jumping puzzle.
What the gently caress is wrong with the gaming culture. They keep whining that games are getting too easy. Yet every time something is released people go ahead and whine that it’s too hard and that they’re entitled to the rewards.
The jumping puzzle is optional, the rewards aren’t that great.
Is it too hard?
Don’t do it.!
That being said there are 2 valid points of criticism for this specific JP.
1) Visibility, shrink everyone to the same size would be a good solution.
2) Profession unbalance, remove all speed bonuses gained from traits.
