Veteran here, and I’m going to throw my hat in the “shafted” bin. $50 is entirely too much for an add-on expansion. No MMO charges a full game price (or near to, some full games are still $50, others $60) for an expansion. The character slot is worthless. It’s $0 value. It’s 800 gems, but it’s so easy to earn that with in-game gold that it provides $0 practical dollar value, so the gesture is hollow. Give me a $10-15 discount on the pre-purchase, and you got me. Give me a character slot and it’s still a slap in the face, I have more gold in-game than I know what to do with without just flat-out buying a legendary, and I’d much rather save the $10-15 in actual money than the 800 gems which cost me $0 (or fewer gems if I wait for the char slot sale).

It’s a shame that people fall for the character slot so easily – traditionally MMOs that launches a new class add on character slots to accommodate it as part of the purchase, not a pre-order incentive. That’s just silly.

Ah well. I know ANet isn’t supported by subscription revenue but BL store revenue so I get that this is a move that’s probably needed to get some good cash flow going, but at the price of a full launch game, there’s approximately 0% chance that there’s going to be enough content to justify it. That’s why expansions are always priced lower. At least be honest about it and not try to placate people with a free character slot that would be free to anyone anyway. Anything that can be earned in-game has a $0 value, even if it can be bought for $ faster.

Separating the WvW Reset times for NA and EU.

The trouble I have with your statement is on the most populated Tiers/Servers those West Coast people previously got home only to waste most of their evening sitting in queue while listening to their East Coast friends and Guildmates playing in WvW on Reset until those people were done for the night – leaving “Reset sloppy seconds” as it were for West Coast players.

This way at least most everybody in NA has a chance to play during the most exciting 2-3 hours immediately following Reset.

And also Oceanics were able to get on at Reset (8am AUS/10am SEA Saturday) till this past week (6am AUS/8am SEA Saturday).

Someone give this man a medal for actually getting the point unlike most people in the thread :P The new times are the fairest for NA. Hands down. No argument. There is no fairer time slot they could have picked that allows the most NA players to have a chance to get in on reset.

Not everyone always gets what they want, so while it’s a little inconvenient that CST/EST times moved up (I’m CST myself), at least PST folks can actually join in at reset now. Guess what, PST being able to actually play in WvW at all on reset evening wins over the slight inconvenience of EST playing a little less.

Hey folks,

I started off on Darkhaven which more or less died out (and started being terrible at WvW). Recently transferred to Jade Quarry and am looking for a new home!

Mostly just interested in an active guild that has people online and actually doing stuff, whether it be dungeons/fractals or wvw.

I’m semi-hardcore in that I play often, but it’s mostly weekday evenings and weekend afternoons/evenings Central time.

I’ve got a 80 support Guardian, an 80 Thief, and working on a Necro (68) and Elementalist (56). The latter I’m leveling through WvW only and it’s been quite fun. About 1600 WvW kills so far – nothing to brag about, but Darkhaven basically stopped participating at all if we did badly after the opening night (which was basically all the time) so WvW was empty. It’s been awesome how active JQ is even on an off night.

Please let me know if anyone wants more info, and looking forward to finding a new home
