This is one of the greatest posts I have read yet and I completely agree with you but I feel that it will never be read by anyone that works for anet. It seems they only cater to massive QQ posts about people switching to that new skyrim game if they do the reset.
Agreed. It’d be nice if ANet would consider finding some sort of compromise here for those of us suffering such one-sided battles in WvW. Fine – the masses do not want to “lose” their ratings that they’ve fought so hard for. Understood. I don’t want my server (FC) or those on Eredon’s Terrace to keep losing so horrendously week after week.
I have to admit that it is a bit demoralizing to see all three borderlands plus EB totally green on a consistent basis – and then watch as they justify spawn camping us because we might be trying to put up a bit of a resistance.
I’m not asking that they give us a win. I’m asking that we be given a fair chance to fight instead of being so overwhelmingly overwhelmed. The only way that is going to happen is if ANet intervenes and helps us out a bit by either setting up 24hr-48hr matches to speed balance the tiers, or to do a population survey per server and re-match servers based on that.
Something has to give here – and the truth of it is if things don’t change – FC and ET are both going to crumple soon. We’ve fought for so long against intense adversity, against multiple heavy-pop servers. We’re known for our tenacity. But even the hardcores are eventually either going to pack-up and head to better servers, or they’re going to stop playing altogether – because what is the point in continuing to fight, minus the thrill of taking down an enemy fighter – if we’re not going to gain anything from it?
At some point this stopped being fun, for me – and I’m incredibly competitive – which is why I check in once in a while now and help out when/where I can, but I don’t devote as much of the little sliver of relaxing time I actually have, to it.
That’s the wrong attitude – some might say. But at least it’s a healthy choice for me.
Everything you’ve said mirrors this server as well. I am sure there are other match ups where the servers are frustrated and will be getting destroyed in that same match up for a month or so because this rating system “isn’t broken."
I’d even settle for the simple green win goes up red loss goes down…
I’d settle for that as well. It’d keep the playing field seriously dynamic – instead of static, as it is now. We’d certainly run into uneven matches – but those would last a week – not months on end.
If logged correctly, and with an accumulation of “win points”/“lose points” with that sort of system – there could be a bi-yearly bracket-competition with the points arranging the brackets. There would be a clear “winner” for the Top-Server cup, twice a year. It could be interesting. Also – it’d give everybody a chance.

Well, yay. Here is to another several weeks of being stomped repeatedly by a server way too massive for it’s tier (T8). Oh well though. As nice as it would’ve been to have a chance to actually compete with another server (compete being the key word) – I’m sure that things will eventually change in our future.
Perhaps I’m wrong here – but as far as I can remember, Ferguson’s Crossing has never experienced any major influx of transfers to our server. We may have had a few people here and there join. We’ve certainly had people leave. But, I can’t, for the life of me, remember a huge influx of WvW’ers joining our server at any point that helped us turn the tide of any of our battles.
Now, I’ve been part of the Ferguson’s Crossing server from day 1 of game release. I’ve never changed, and I’m never going to change (especially now with paid-transfers up and running). I’ve battled in WvW almost every single week (except these last two). My experience is that our server fights hard and we fight long. We maintain our position in T8 – but we don’t make any headway – especially considering the servers that we’ve had the pleasure of matching up against. DR, Kain, and now Sorrows.
As Moobs said, when Sorrows first hit T8, we (FC) obviously didn’t wipe the floor with them – but for ONCE in months – we took top score even if only by a hair. For once – we had an even match. And you know what? It was fun.
After that though, the transfers started once again. Did they transfer to FC? No. They hit up SF – and once again, we were facing another DR and Kain – 10 vs. 1 player-base. As much as that sucked for us – we simply shrugged it off as normal and did what we always do. We fought back.
Also, I’m just going to throw this out there: It was said that FC hasn’t really experienced the sort of “loss” that other higher-tiered servers have experienced. It has been said that FC hasn’t had to endure the loss of tiers. You’re right. We haven’t. But tell me this. We’re in T8 – where else do you expect us to go? How is it fair to say that we’ve not experienced this when the mechanics of the game do not allow us to? We could be curb stomped week after week – and nothing would ever change. Our position would remain the same. Only the scores will indicate that we suffered any sort of “loss”.
So to say that we should suck it up and deal with it is unfair, to say the least. We’ve fought hard. We’ve lost hard and consistently – but not because we’re no good at the game, but rather because the numbers are not in our favor. I for one fully believe that if you throw our server into a match-up with two evenly populated servers, we’ll hold our own and we’ll shine.
So – don’t count us out, and don’t make our frustrations out to be that of petty whiners/sore losers. We’ve got legitimate reasons for being frustrated. It’s hard losing repeatedly to uneven matches. In fact, it’s hard losing period. I’m sure anybody here can agree with that. It has been the story of our server since our DR match-up days. We want to start winning. Pure and simple.
I’d be lying if I said that we are not looking forward to our moment in the sun – and our chance to rise to higher tiers.
So of course we are looking forward to this new system – with the hopes that things will start evening out. We also understand that it is going to take time for the system to balance itself out – but we look forward to that as well. When it does, maybe WvW will be fun for us (and for other servers who have had to deal with poor match-ups for weeks/months on end), again.

Why the kitten is the PvP guild on SF still not banned? kitten your bullkitten rules about not calling out this crap while you sit around doing nothing. They just wall jumped into bay and then greenlake right after while we couldn’t get there in time. Best part is they have followers helping them outside of their guild. Seriously, Anet, wtf. And who the hell of SF is ok with this?
Yeah – Anet called me out on that post, btw. Warned me for “Guild Assassination”.
shrugs I honestly didn’t think I was guild assassinating. I thought I was pointing out a problem and asking that the server keep an eye out for it. I’m certainly not going to call out an entire server on the poor decisions of a minority of people – and I certainly didn’t call out the entire guild.
Believe me when I say that I feel for you guys. I’ve been in Ferguson’s Crossing since the game’s release – and I’ve been participating in WvW from nearly the start.
We’ve certainly had our good times, and we’ve had our fair share of tough times too. It’s hard losing again and again – but we’re fighters, and certainly bull-headed. That’s why we kept pushing week after week while getting stomped by first DR and then Kain.
I’m sure that every single one of us has experienced the flash of annoyance (and perhaps anger) that comes with losing a strong WvW guild, or when hearing that an opposing server have been gifted with a strong WvW guild transfer or three.
It’s certainly disheartening at times to watch territory that was “easily” controlled at one point, now nearly impossible to defend without heavy losses of resource and money due to guild losses/enemy transfers/better time coverage.
All I can say is – I’ve been there. I know you’re there.
With time, especially when all these stupid free transfers stop, you guys will be able to organize yourselves into an effective and lethal team. Just be as tenacious about that as you are in the field.
I’ve got a lot of respect for your server. You guys push hard and fight well. You are certainly tenacious. Keep up the good work. I hope to continue seeing you guys on the battlefield. We haven’t given up – and we still hold out hope that one day we’ll start making our move up the tiers. You guys will too.
In my opinion, the situation at ET is just going to keep getting worse as more people get frustrated with poor performances, transfer causing poorer performance thus frustrating more people and getting them to leave. The only people that seem to be staying are those that want to hop into WvW, run around killing things for an hour and log off, which is pretty unfortunate (well besides our patient ET patriots xD). It seems that this cycle is almost impossible to break at this point, and likely it wont until we hit rock bottom with a completely new set of players, get our new players good experiences (not the current terrible performance we’ve had) and basically build up from scratch.
