1.)
Performance is a moot point. GW2 has Supersampling which is a very high intensive feature, but you dont hear anyone saying “performance will suffer” about this effect. Because its OPTIONAL. Only the people who have systems that can utilize it, will, and if you do not you can always dial back other settings like Shadows and then increase it. FOV wouldnt cause performance issues.

2. This one isnt as nearly bad as it seems. You CAN change the FOV currently in GW2 using windowed mode and resizing the game till its something along the lines of “1920×725”. Of course what youre left with is a beautiful FOV, but a very awkward window to play with. However this DOES NOT cause fish eye or stretching problems as long as its kept at reasonable levels. Basically higher FOV can work, without distorting perspective and stretching in game art and geometry.

3. I think this is a cop-out answer. Its easy to say “combat will suffer” and make it sound right, but how will it suffer? GW2 requires positioning? So does every other game(MMOs) and they allow you to zoom out much further to boot. With a higher FOV, you can see more of the game world around your character, all this does is allow you to see players on the side of your screen that were otherwise not rendered in your view. Is that really so game breaking? Currently all it takes is a simple camera turn and they are shown. Showing the environment and models around your character is not a bad thing. The game shouldnt be made “difficult” by limiting your view of the battlefield, thats just a cheap way to make it seem hard.

Then allow us to zoom out more maybe? You can already change the FOV by playing in Windowed mode and playing in a letterbox window, so why not give the option to people.

Yeah the camera really needs some work, luckily Anet seem to be looking at it and going to remove the camera smoothing

The funny thing is youd think the Elementalist would have huge damage since they have tiny health pools and tiny armor, but thats not the case either. Eles die quick and do pretty substandard damage as well. Playing elementalist you have to put twice the effort in, and youre rewarded with half the gain. Mesmer and Necros have more health

Specced right Thieves can crit for upwards of 6000 in one hit, no elementalist can do that, and they are more squikittenoo boot

I really do hope an FOV increase is allowed. Currently you can actually tweak your FOV by playing the game in Windowed mode and resizing the height to extreme lows, thus playing in a very thin long rectangle. The FOV is drastically increased and the game world feels much much more larger.

I really hope this addresses all the camera and mouse issues issues present in the game. A great thread to see whats wrong is here

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Camera-control-issues-a-documented-list/first#post4411

Smoothing is a problem yes, but thats only the tip of the ice berg for GW2 camera and mouse control issues. Inertia, FoV, no first person mode, and not being able to zoom in/out when moving the camera all need to be looked at and hopefully changed.

In a game like GW2, precise, 1:1 control of your camera and mouse is paramount. It is the single one thing the player is constantly interacting with, and its a truly counter to a good game to have it be so incredibly unresponsive and hard to use.

Boss monsters resetting too eagerly

Yep, seems to be implemented so you cant exploit enemies by kiting them, or bringing them across vast distances. The problem is you are supposed to kite these mobs, as they take large chunks of hp out of you when hit, so you run and attack, and then it runs back resetting.

Great news Baxuz theyve listened! Hopefully they remove the inertia and smoothing and its just not a “make the smoothing more precise and less buggy but its still there” kind of deal

The Dungeons are Not Difficult - They are Mechanically Flawed - Here's Why...

Completely and utterly agree. Encounters seem like they were molded around the Tank + dedicated healer model. I always thought the idea of combat in GW2 was high damage high risk almost like Dark Souls/Demons Souls, meaning normal enemies can hurt you quite a bit, but you can as well. So one must play skillfully, and you can take no damage and destroy enemies.

Dungeon mobs seem to be the opposite of this idea. The HP pools are sooo inflated it takes 5 people minutes to kill a couple of trash enemies. Yet they still hit incredibly hard, almost 2 shotting you. Since they have so much HP you will get hit(because you run out of CC and Endurance), often, and you will go into downed state as well. And if you die on a boss encounter? Thats fine, just spawn back at a waypoint and throw yourself at the boss once more, slowly chipping at his health over and over again. Not only that, but some boss encounter have incredibly amateur or rudimentary mechanics, like the Relena Vassar encounter(throw boulders for the entire fight)

Why? Why such a drastic change between dungeon combat and combat outside dungeons?

sPVP armor/weapons-only inventory/bank inside Mists

So am I the only one kind of inconvenienced by the fact that sPVP items stick with you after leaving the Heart of the Mists but serve no purpose other than filling up your bag slots? Every time I leave I end up destroying my PVP items and when I go back Im forced to buy them again.

You cant use them anywhere but sPVP, why not only allow them to show up while in the Mists?

I propose having a separate inventory when you enter the Heart of the Mists where your sPVP items will stay. Or even an sPVP only Bank where only pvp items can be stored for easy use.

How does this sound?

Should make it so auto attack is remembered for those kits and weapons, so you can auto the ones you want and leave the ones off that consume too quick

Camera bug - Unable to zoom in and out while moving mouse

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Apotheosize.4293

Apotheosize.4293

While moving the camera(with right and/or left mouse buttons) you are unable to zoom in and out normally. I can hold down the mouse buttons and zooming works, but the moment I move the camera, mouse scroll fails to execute

However if I use Page Up/Page Down(the keybind for zoom control) at the same time as you move the camera, the functionality works again.

Too many players on screen = players not appearing

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Apotheosize.4293

Apotheosize.4293

Apparently its an aspect of the engine. I hate it too, it effects everything even cities. You start walking down a path and suddenly someone appears right in front of you because there were too many people on screen already..I mean, maybe allow this feature for people who need it as in low end computer? But mine can most definitely handle every player on screen

Id also like to add:

Zooming in and out with the mouse wheel doesnt work when moving the camera with the mouse. However using Page Up/Page Down(KB bind for zoom) still works.
