Change how Commander Works

An alternate option is to allow a guilds to display their members in special ways on the map to fellow guild members, and do away with commanders entirely. Guilds are absolutely more important to WvW than a Commander ever will be.

Exactly. Guilds and maybe alliances should be able to lead the fight, not random people with 100g.

Now the situation is still acceptable because not many single players were able to spend 100g on the commander book. In 6 months though, even single players will have enough gold to purchase the book and WvWvW is going to become a total joke.

Let us not forget that gold can be acquired through the cash shop.

Harvesting Tool Manager

Good idea.

Or at least make the tools account bound. My lv 80 ranger has one bag filled up with harvesting tools (I don’t like to waste a Mithril or Orichalcum Sickle on a mere Onion. 12s to buy a full T6 gathering tool set is a lot of money for me). Most of them would be more useful on my other characters that need the lower tier tools much more often, but each of them had to buy their own sets…

Account bound tools would be good indeed.

I disagree with this for one simple reason: I guess that unlocking extra bags and bank slots is one of the most important sources of money for Anet.

I would suggest the following instead: Implement a system where we do not need to switch tools to gather different resources. Let the game recognize the kind of resource a player is collecting and automatically use the proper tool. This would force players to have a stack of each tool if they want to harvest different level materials and, at the same time, would make the gathering process less annoying.

Can we get some Endgame character progression?

The game has both endgame and grinding. The majority of players won’t have accomplished everything that can be accomplished by the time devs will hit us with a new expansion. At least that is what happend in GW1.

That being said, I agree with the OP about the lack of character progress and recognition. WvWvW is fun, but it has no purpose toward character progression or even for your guild and server. What happens when you win a game? Nothing. You play for an entire week to defeat your enemies and in the end you have a popup saying your team won.

The same can be said for casual sPvP once you have reached rank 80. In addition to that, all battlegrounds have the same mechanics, just different maps.

How could devs fix this? I can think about a couple of things they could do:

1) Improve the achievement system making it comparable to those they have in Rift and WoW. Give rewards for the most difficult achievements.

2) Make 2 WvWvW ladders – one server-based and one player-based, and make them affect the PvE world. For instance, as somebody has already suggested, implement statues in Lion’s Arch of the best players and a cross-server monument celebrating the top server.

These two simple things, that can be implemented quickly, will boost the game’s longevity and make players feel like they are fighting to achieve something rather than just zerging to kill time.
