9/11 Blacktide vs Desolation vs Vizunah Square

To whom it may concern,

There seems to be a great deal of speculation regarding RUIN in Europe, our intentions and objectives.

To set the record strait:

The official position on www.Ruinnation.com details our plans and guild objectives.

For the record an organization by the name of “RUIN GAMING” isn’t particularly concerned with our reputation or arbitrary concepts of “sportsmanship” in a video game. We will act in the best interest of our members regardless of consequences to other guilds. We are not being paid to fight for any particular server. We are not members of any particular alliance. We have no obligations whatsoever.

If Desolation is destroyed by our move this is an unfortunate consequence of their reliance on us.

Ruin has been in the process of moving to Blacktide since the start of this week’s match up.

There have been Ruin members on Blacktide in contact with most of the major guilds there for some time. Most of these members have been ordered not to have Ruin tags represented while we were engaged in transfers.

In regards to Guild Wars 2 Ruin has been in talks with guilds from Blacktide and Far Shiverpeaks (that later joined Blacktide) for several weeks.

We do not claim to be responsible for the Blacktide’s victory in any way. At best only a handful of Ruin members have been on the battlefield on Blacktide, no more than 50-100.

Ruin ultimately plays for enjoyment and entertainment. As everyone should. Our officers and member base put in their maximum effort fighting Vizunah and Arborstone for two weeks putting in often 70-90 hours a week. This was not sustainable. No guild can be expected to cover four zones around the clock indefinitely.

Battle of the Titans - BT, Desolation, VS

Hats off to Blacktide.

Blacktide has been able to unify and coordinate most of the major guilds from Far Shiverpeaks and clearly has the manpower and coverage to become the major force in Europe.

RUIN has been more than happy to contribute in breaking the Vizunah “monopoly” on tier one in the hopes of allowing other international communities and language servers to have a more competitive environment.

Desolation, remains a scrappy server able to pull out improbable wins against difficult odds, but has severe limitations. We have always only had two “hardcore” wvw guilds operating consistently, IRON and RUIN. Though we have new transfer WvW guilds from Russia who have been working hard to build and expand they simply do not have the numbers to cover all the borderlands.

Contrary to popular belief RUIN does not have 2,000 people actively playing in Europe. Our night crew was able to intimidate and beat Vizunah through moving a single team of about 50-60 people around a night while keeping a small rear-guard in Eternal Battlegrounds.

Through countering the French night crew and limiting the damage they could do we were able to scrape out victories against the French double team.

RUIN does not and has never had the raw numbers to beat a large number of well organized guilds in 4 battlegrounds simultaneously.

I would like to thank IRON for consistently providing a strong night crew capable of holding down a zone throughout most of the night. That said the Russian (Moscow) time zone comes on strong just as we’re going to sleep in the United States. As a result we have been realistic about what our options have been.

most VS players are glad to play BT this week and are even happy that AS got kicked out to t2. AS have very good players and guilds but they mostly play between 9pm and 11pm. it’s boring and unbalanced.

and about the wintrading/alliance thing… it’s getting old. VS focused AS all the week as their primary target to get sure BT will come to t1 this week… (btw most big guilds on AS also wanted to be sure to go back to t2 and given up this week on purpose)

I can’t tell if you’re serious or just trolling. Are you really trying to tell me that Vizunah FR was focusing Arborstone FR over Desolation?

I mean mountains of evidence that this is untrue aside, you are still try to save face saying that you wanted to fight Blacktide?

Desolation is not Full during US late evenings or at night. Which is the group of people and play times Ruin is most interested in.

We have recently had several guilds from Far Shiverpeaks join us since their server is apparently fallen on hard times.

If you are looking for a well organized server with an outstanding community Desolation EU may be for you.

Desolation is an international server populated primarily by players from the United Kingdom and other western European guilds.

We are currently looking for well organized North American and Russian guilds for our server. We have recently joined the first tier of the European bracket and have held our own. We are on track to come in first or second for a second week in tier two against Vizunah FR and Arborstone FR.

Guilds and gaming organizations interested in building up their international member base will find Desolation is an excellent destination server.

If you have any other questions or concerns please contact me in game!

We are currently looking for additional West Coast USA players to join us on Desolation.

Ruin has always had a large West coast player base, to such a large extent that we have guild events in LA and San Diego including guild Disneyland trips etc etc.

We’re currently looking for other players from the West coast interested in joining us.

Recently we moved to Europe to address the night capping issues prevalent on the North American servers in favor of a more international English speaking environment.

Though this has been a great way to play along side some amazing European and truly global players, we would like to have some more West Coast US players join us as well.

Please contact me in game for further details!

Thanks so much, see you all in game!

Vizunah and Arborstone are clearly engaged in win trading to stay in tier 1.

They know that as soon as one of them drops to tier 2 that the party is over.

As a result they have been burning all of their energy/money and resources to fight a desperate battle to avoid being entirely knocked out. This level of resistance will not be sustainable for them. There is no way to keep your players running 14 hour days for two weeks and altering sleep schedules to compensate. There will be enormous burn-out.

Vizunah and Arborstone guilds will be destroyed as their members fall to exhaustion, their alliances will collapse, French Hegemony in Europe will end.

The French servers face the REALITY of a defeat in which they will be cast down to fight the Russians on Blacktide, who will inevitably crush them. Those who remain after the long hard retreat from Moscow will face their Waterloo fighting European Coalition servers and the Germans.

Only through abusing every single loophole in the WvW system have the French remained in tier 1. The level of desperation that they show in this regard has been a constant source of entertainment for Ruin.

French guilds building dozens of flame rams inside Stonemist and our keeps to burn supply prior to siege, moving guilds back and forth from one French server to another to reinforce during off times.

Now Arborstone apparently has a night crew “magically” after a full week of having zero presence, while Vizunah has virtually no coverage.

Though the average French player does not engage in an “alliance” between the servers (we have seen infighting and feuding between the French servers). There are clearly guilds on AS/VS engaged in questionable practices to cling on to these matches.

Ultimately it is better for strong independent servers to make up tier 1. Rather than trying the French method of spreading their guilds across two servers to provide them with a numerical advantage.

Many players will realize this on AS and VS and I predict that as soon as it becomes impossible to maintain two French servers in tier 1 they will abandon one to reinforce their remaining server (likely Vizunah). I am confident that when Arborstone is knocked out it will be left to die by the “crossrealming” guild alliances and will plummet through the server rankings.

This thread has been provided for members of the Desolation server to discuss WvW fighting.

Great battles and memorable moments in World versus World.

Current Matchup:

Desolation continues the war against Vizunah Square and Arborstone.

The current fighting against the French servers has shown that the Alliance between French guilds has deteriorated but not completely failed. Coordinated groups of guilds from Arborstone and Vizunah continue to cooperate and communicate regularly.

As a result players on Desolation are becoming stronger, better experienced and morale remains extremely high. We have been able to keep fresh players rotating in and avoided burn out.

RUIN has deliberately kept our reserves out of the fighting to avoid burn out during week long matches. We have also focused on additional recruitment to cope with the strong Vizunah night presence, which remains the strongest in Europe.

Desolation remains strong, a constant influx of new players and recruits has helped to build our WvW guilds. We welcome our new allies from Russia and Eastern Europe.

The major guilds WvW guilds from Desolation all report that our rank 1 fighting against two French servers has helped them with their recruitment efforts and enjoyment of Guild Wars 2.

Please share your screenshots and battle reports here!

Thank you, and good fighting!

ITT : Desolation whiners making up an imaginary alliance to justify their loss. So sad!

As far as I can see by the points, Desolation will easily beat Arborstone due to Vizunah’s constant attacks.

Vizunah knows that it will lose this match if it does not attack Arborstone, as they have a minimal 2K point lead and they need the points.

As a result Arborstone is being destroyed by Vizunah.

Unbalanced? With your loyal serveant Arborstone FR? Yes i agree is unbalanced.

Yes, we tried to make an alliance at the start of this match (i’ll not deny it, this is the truth), but believe me, that alliance was broken very early in the match.
From monday, both VS and AS have backstab each other…

Arborstone will be knocked out of tier 1 due to Vizunah’s betrayal.

Vizunah has taken every opportunity to sabotage Arborstone. Arborstone territory is completely taken over by Vizunah every morning. As a result Arborstone will lose this match.

There are still Arborstone guilds attempting to assist Vizunah. I speculate that they intend to transfer to Vizunah and leave Arborstone when the 7 day transfer lock is in place.

Kirn,

I haven’t seen evidence of a “stronger” prime time. Far Shiverpeaks struggled to stay ahead of Kodash over the weekend in point gain and was completely wiped out earlier every day we have fought you.

Repeating that you are “superior players” during your “prime time” to boost your morale doesn’t make it true.

Ruin did its homework before we joined the EU servers.

There is a reason we are not on Far Shiverpeaks.

There is a reason we crushed you by 40,000 points today.

I would seriously consider speaking with us regarding your future server choice. Egos must be set aside to form the strongest servers to compete in tier 1. Otherwise you will continue to find yourselves unable to make progress against the top tier servers.

Desolation Server: unofficial Anglo American server!

in WvW

Archaos.4953

To whom it may concern,

I have recently been approached by many North American ex-patriots living in Europe interested in joining a server that has a significant presence of other North American players.

To the extent that such a server exists Desolation is it.

What you can expect on Desolation EU:

English is the primary language spoken. The predominant guilds here are from the United Kingdom and have been a genuine pleasure to work with.

Americans and other North American players are welcomed with open arms and it has thus far been a very positive experience for everyone in Ruin.

Superb organization:

A competent and highly organized community rich server that has achieved without official alliances a level of cooperation far exceeding anything I personally participated in throughout the North American tier 1 servers.

Determination!

Due to language and national barriers server transfers between French, German and English speaking servers are rare. Unlike in the NA servers where players freely transfer from loosing to winning servers European servers rarely see Germans joining French servers etc. The result has been more stable and “scrappy” servers who fight on despite overwhelming odds and give their very best until the last day of matches, rather than surrendering by Monday as in most US matches (check the scores).

North American WvW guilds should move to Europe!

in WvW

Posted by: Archaos.4953

Archaos.4953

Our experience on Desolation has been that there is little PvDoor.

Eastern European and particularly Russian guilds cover a huge number of time zones and other language based servers have significant 24/7 coverage.

The European bracket is also from personal experience far more challenging than anything in North America.

North American WvW guilds should move to Europe!

in WvW

Archaos.4953

Currently in the North American bracket the servers with largest and most consistent 24 hour coverage wins. Period.

Unfortunately there are only a handful of NA servers with any semblance of 24 hour coverage. This is unlikely to change. There are simply too few Oceanic and East Asian guilds on North American servers to provide more than a few servers any significant coverage. These “lucky” servers tend to do well in WvW and experience a massive influx of fair weather WvW focused players exploding the queue times and ultimately killing the server. Henge of Denravi is a case and point in this cycle, Jade Quarry is just another example.

The cycle will continue until more North American WvW guilds make the necessary steps to change it.

There is a solution.

Move to a European server.

The only way to “fix” night capping is to encourage server communities to become truly international. WvW focused guilds looking for servers with better 24/7 coverage need to be willing to move to servers that have larger international populations covering those time zones.

Arenanet made a mistake by initially segregating North American and European servers.

This left WvW subject to the “night capping” phenomenon. On North American servers this meant that Oceanic players in particular played king maker. Titan Alliance and other Alliances were able gain their momentum in large part due to their Oceanic coverage. Easily defeating strong servers that lacked night coverage. There are simply too few Oceanic pvp guilds to cover a significant number of North American servers.

The only solution for NA guilds looking for strong night coverage is not to fight over the handful of Australian/NZ and East Asian guilds and consider joining European servers.

For these reasons Ruin has decided to move to the Desolation EU (Primarily United Kingdom) server.

European WvW Guilds should try Sea of Sorrows

Jedah

You should seriously consider simply moving Merc to a European server. SOS has been struggling since launch to produce decent 24 hour coverage and I doubt at this point that there is anything you can do to “fix” SOS.

Ruin moved to the unofficial United Kingdom Desolation server to help them fight the French. You should consider looking into doing something similar. Moving to Europe is far easier than convincing Europe to move to you.

There simply aren’t enough North American guilds on EU servers and not enough late night coverage to make all NA servers viable in wvw for higher tiers.

I doubt you will be able to find any significant European guilds willing to move to NA servers, the European bracket is more competitive and more challenging and I doubt they will want to give that up to muck around in lower tier US fighting.

You will need to make a decision, is your guild focused on progressing to the top tier or merely enjoying WvW for the sake of WvW?

HoD vs JQ vs ET

in WvW

Posted by: Archaos.4953

Archaos.4953

To whom it may concern,

HOD will likely win this match for the same reason it has always won previous matches: higher off hour population.

Individual player skill and guild coordination will only get you so far in Guild Wars 2. Given the choice between highly skilled guilds and off hours population, off hours population wins every time. The departure of TA from Henge will merely highlight this issue. Numbers during the early morning, particularly during the weekdays have always been Henge’s main strength. In the last two match ups ET has beaten Henge during the weekends (when we have some night presence to field) and generally will lose ground during the week.

Even absent some of TA’s guilds HOD’s night capping will generally win out on points.

Beyond that JQ/ET must focus what player resources they can on Henge if they have any hope of gaining a significant enough point buffer to make any difference.

That said the server match up system provides no tangible rewards beyond bragging rights and has the effect of at least providing for a more competitive pvp environment which at the very least is far more entertaining than spawn camping ghost town servers.

These issues are ultimately up to Arenanet to address. Many WvW/RvR games have developed counters to these issues: Off hours buffs to under-populated servers and “reinforced modes” to prevent or limit night capping. In Warhammer Online it was literally impossible to capture empty zones, as player kills in the zone were the major source of points towards zone flipping.

Transferring to the enemy server to spy, prevent use of siege equipment, etc.

Ruin Gaming LLC Responds

Having conducted an extensive review of the issues presented on the Official Guild Wars 2 forums we have made a public edict regarding these baseless, hysterical and increasingly shrill accusations:

“Hey Ruin! Stay on your server!”

Ruin Gaming LLC: “No”

Our reasoning:

- Free server transfers for the purpose of distributing players from High and Full population servers to Low/Medium population servers are clearly an intended objective of the ArenaNet transfer program.
- The SOS and IOJ servers are both Full/High servers. Eredon Terrace is a Low/Medium server.
- It is the destiny of SOS and IOJ players to join Ruin Gaming and rule the Galaxy.

In regards to allegations of “Cross Realming”

- The Eredon Terrace, Sea of Sorrows, Isle of Janthir match has in no way been impacted by recruitment efforts.
- The match in question was won by Eredon Terrace prior to recruitment efforts: (Even controlling all nodes on the map for the remainder of the match by either IOJ or SOS would still have resulted in a loss, a fact that was patiently explained prior to recruitment efforts.)
- Recruitment officers from Ruin have all clearly announced themselves and have continued to display their guild tags.
- Were Ruin interested in an official policy of “cross realming” we certainly wouldn’t have blatantly announced ourselves with guild emblems, commander tags and uniforms clearly displayed.
- James bond does not wear an MI6 name tag during covert operations. I checked their website to confirm: https://www.sis.gov.uk/careers.html (check it yourself).

We have issued a public post further outlining Ruin recruitment policies in regards to Sea of Sorrows:
