Showing Posts For AresFyra.3570:
I compiled this info myself last night, didn’t have time to post before work though. Using the same source as OP, plus another source. Which provides further details on key skills, needed to get anywhere near a full picture of the Mirage spec. I’ll add my share, and then the OP might copy it & edit the original post for a neat overview.
FYI, Path of Fire introduces Grieving stats: Power, Condi, precision, ferocity.
CHANGES TO OP:
Major Adept, Renewing Oasis. It specifically mentions “Bleeding, Burning, Confusion, Torment”, so not -20% from all conditions. There’s no mention if -20% procs from all Regen boon applications, or just the skill’s application of it with Mirage Cloak.
Axe Chain 3, Mirror Strikes.
Damage: (2x) 356
Ambush Staff, Chaos Vortex.
Damage: 216
ADDITIONS:
Both sources use the same gear setup, only very minor changes in the videos:
Power 1000 Toughness 1000 Vitality 1560 Precision 2050 Ferocity 0 Condition Damage 1225 Expertise 560 Concentration 0 Agony Resist 0 Mirage Elite 18% Armor 1888 Health 21522 Crit Chance 54,00% Crit Damage 150% Healing Power 0 Condition Duration 52,33% Boon Duration 0%
Without the power coefficient of the new skills it might be hard to calculate the final power dmg value. The final value is most likely to change until release anyway. Both sources use exotic weapons. (For calculation purposes.)
Flat (base) condition durations of skills are likely ~half the listed value. Confusion duration is affected by Master of Misdirection trait, +33%.
Ambush skill: Scepter, Ether Barrage 1,5s C 1s R
Ambush. Blink back a short distance and launch a barrage of chaos orbs at your foe, inflicting either confusion or torment each hit. Condition duration halved for clones.

Torment: 1 stack (6s)
Shadowstep Distance: 200
Range: 1200
Utility Skill: Crystal Sands (targeted) (not in water) 0.25s C 20s R
Deception. Draw in shards of crystal sand that confuse foes they pass through on their way to your targeted location. The shards form a Mirrage Mirror upon reching their destination.

Utility skill: Sand Through Glass 30s R
Deception. Evade backward and leave behind a mirage mirror.

Resistance: 2s
Power Cleanse 1s R

Deception. Create a mirage at your current location and heal over time. When the mirage expires, it spaws a mirage mirror.
Healing: 1620
Vigor: (5s) 150 Condition Damage*, 50% Endurance Regeneration
Pulses: 5
Mirage Duration: 3 s
Interval: 1 s
*See: Nomad’s Endurance
ELITE skill: Jaunt (not in water) 0.5s R
Deception. Shadowstep to a target location and confuse nearby foes.
Damage: 266
Confusion: 3 stacks (7.5s)
Conditions Removed: 1
Maximum Count: 3
Count Recharge: 20 seconds
Radius: 180
Combo Finisher: Leap
*The rest of the tooltip was blocked. Wasn’t able to see range etc.
Oh, and this. Don’t know where it popped up…
Mirage Mirror (targeted)
Creates a mirror at target location. Touching the mirror shatters it, granting Mirage Cloak to you and weakening foes.
Damage: 80
Weakness: (6s)
Mirage Cloak: (1s)
Number of Targets: 5
Radius: 180
Sorry for the bad formatting but all in all when you look at the actual mechanics of the new elite spec, I’m quite pleased with what I’m seeing! Hope it helps!
Jaunt: A short trip for pleasure..
How about.. Just no! ^^
Fay and DeathReign are correct.
Any mesmer using staff on a regular will disagree with you on this..
Me included. I don’t know what profession you usually play
and I know mesmer mechanics can be daunting at times, BUT,
invest enough time in studying/practising skill/trait combos and
the mighty purple reign will follow..! Need to hit that “zone”..
And regarding the “satire” of Soothsayer:
Remember when Phase Retreat actually was near spammable?!
OP, please check the Wiki history of Chaos Armor and staff #2..
Chaotic Dampening vs. the other 2 traits are another discussion…
Peace..
Thanks Zarania!!
Woohoo, some love!
If you thought I dealt with everything nicely before… …
To be frank, my game play was not up to par before.
But it is now. Plus the music is better.
My game play is synced to the music that I play to already.. Maybe not in previous videos, but now! My experience of WvW is mainly based on the last 5 days of play.. ^^ So don’t judge me, since you’ve probably played WvW a bit more? I only have ONE lvl 80 toon.. That’s how little time I usually have to play! But I’ve been glued to my computer since Thursday now. And the improvement is off the scale.. My knowledge of other classes skills is next to zero. With that in mind, mobs are easy but I’ve had to adopt a playstyle which works on most classes anyway.. But thieves are as bursty as me or more, plus stealthy as kittens. Usually one of them that gets me..! My theoretical knowledge of the mesmer is top notch though.
But today I feel so confident in the build I’ve been mainly running for two days straight. My best build yet tbh! At least for me. Maybe since I’ve played it so continuously lately..
My weapons of choice are: Scepter/Pistol and Sword/Sword btw.
Peace! (Might have time to edit tonight a bit..) Expect several dreadful videos with me doing nothing special by next week..!
As for future content: Bunnies will die, is all I can say at this point.
Oh, and if any1 wanna join my WvW guild, admittance runs will be needed..! ^^
But I wanna get a Commander tag, that’s a no brainer really.. Duh! Currently the only person in it… Just used it for storage up until now!
Mesmers only. The ones who I find appropriate and helpful in my quest for a bigger WvW guild will get my build setup too! So please feel free to contact me, I’m on Aurora Glade (EU).. Reppin’..!
(edited by AresFyra.3570)
All future long distance travelling will be in 8x speed.. If I include it that is.
Currently have 105 Gb to go through. Even opted to go 720p and lesser quality to have space on my SSD for the recordings! ^^ So yeah.. What scenes do I choose..?! Really..?
Assaults on supply camps or towers on my own, lone player kills, running with the zerg, breaking down gates, transporting golems, building siege, guarding other players, running, running, running.. Got everything except Garrisson and the Keep on my own!
You’re welcome to post on your own video higlight preferences, please! I need help.. :P
(edited by AresFyra.3570)
<— Setting the record(ings) straight.
MSFone: It’s no joke, it’s training..! I haven’t included most of my material where I cap supply camp after supply camp all alone.. And getting some much needed exercise on the drakes..
Oh, and I was high. High on what is called passion for GW2..! You’ll see.
But I do use natural medicine to keep me sharp when playing. And lots of water…
And if you only knew how much work I’ve put in, you’d think I was joking! ^^
Fay: “It looks like Ares Fyra hasn’t learned much since their last video.” I’m one guy, so the appropriate word would be “his”.. But I’ve learned A LOT! Perhaps not in the art of making videos, but in terms of gameplay and WvW knowledge, I’m getting there…
You can ask the commanders that’s been running things on AG the last few days..? Also, I’m a big fan of all the calculations you’ve done in the past, it has helped A LOT! But I think even Fay will be pleased when watching the upcoming videos. I’m sure of it.
Ross Riddle: The spidey sense is a good thing to have.. Too bad it won’t react fast enough when a stealthy thief interupts me when I’m fighting a supply camp on my own.. Usually 5-10 Veterans + a well timed backstab..? Not my greatest moments..!
denis: … … …
StickerHappy: THIS is real talk. But I shouldn’t have named the topic: “Build Video”.. Lots of you got the wrong impression it seems.. I haven’t played lots of WvW.. Maybe hardcore for a few days now. But it takes it toll on my limbs. Plus I got editing to do! ^^
Noss: First of all, I spent at least 45min on making my face just right! Haha.. You should see me in the Fanged Dread mask.. Perfection, even though quite ugly at times, yes..!
Criteria? I’m not listening to you guys, that’s for sure!
It will be better clips onwards. No idea what the player base would like to see really? Seems most videos are the same! But I’ve calculated as much as possible on this build! A LOT! Even travelling times with my cooldowns between locations etc… Overkill yes, but you should see the long clips!!
Curunen: “Heh, either this is one of the best joke videos ever, or the most bizarre/random wvw video ever.” It might be a little of each I think..!
But I had so little material to work off of… Now I got countless hours of hardcore WvW behind me. And that WILL show in later videos.. Might even take till friday to just edit some of it!
“But then I see you’re using Mimic, so it must be for a joke.” Not anymore, it’s awful..!
“If serious again, then please please – in wvw videos we want to see good fights with other players – preferably where you’re at a disadvantage and have to put in some good skill to either troll the enemy or win.” COMING RIGHT UP!
In a while that is!
Blades of Sabatine: Lent? Next video will be summarized first, and then after highlights the ones who have minutes to spare can watch the longer version. Chicken kills maybe?
PorcoDio: True. But just wait!
General: I’ve improved a lot these past couple of days, mostly because I’ve played WvW. Haven’t done so in the past very much. And not with such an awesome build!! Trust me, any1 enjoying mesmer will have a blast watching my next videos… Might be a few since I got hours of clips to go through. And believe me, I’ve been rather busy..
Aurora Glade’s ranking is up at least..! Thx to us players who help out in the shadows..
And I must say that “Boopblablabla” and “Captain Cormac” have commander skills..!
See you guys on the frontline… (In need of party members and perhaps gold for a tag..)
Thanks for being helpful..!
Peace
Fresh video..! GS/Staff “Life Survivor” mesmer build. Enjoy!
15min – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5aAq7XOlig
Peace!
Detecting scenes for editing atm.. For a “highlight only” video..!
Pleased..?
The video link is gonna have to do for now! Sorry guys! :/
Luckily, my guild was pretty quiet at the time.. So fun build!
My new mesmer WvW build, which rocks tbh..!
Roam & Harass!
Will write some more on gear/ strategy later this evening.. I hope..
Can’t try it in ascended gear atm. But exotic works well enough.
Enjoy! My first real attempt at WvW combat in unedited form.. Seriously.
Never had an appropriate build/ gear for it before!
Love roaming!
Should’ve seen the fight just before I turned on the recording!
Would love to hear your critique! Which is usually constructive..
Haven’t played in quite a while so any “new lingo”, plz explain it..!
New build as of today, so I’m still working on the combos etc..
Might see some highly questionable key presses at times. Haha..
And yeah, I’ve could’ve used my 3sec Distortion towards the end,
but some of us older players have sons to pick up from daycare..! :P
Looking forward to tonight though! This was just the first test..
Too bad a lot of new sigils/ food are account bound.. Peace!
(OBSERVE: Changing the build very slightly for later videos…)
I’m looking for an active Ruins of Surmia (EU) guild.. Switching homeworlds atm is out!
Swedish would be great, but I’m fluent in English and can understand written French.
Well, most common French that is.. I don’t have the capability atm to talk on TS etc..
But I would prefer it in the future, during WvW, SPvP and Dungeons with new friends!
I’m the owner of a GW2 CE, (which is not this account!) and I’ve participated in every Beta before the game was released because of it. Glorious days! When people where so unused to how the mesmer clones looked exactly the same as the original mesmer..!
It was only at the later stages of Beta that I tried out the mesmer.. And what a fun and exceptionally great class/ profession it is! Playing an asuran mesmer is worth it, due to the grooviest animations and the superb voice-acting. It really FEELS asuran, instead of being a generic backpiece you stare at most of the time during your gaming sessions..
A guild with a lot of experienced mesmers would be ideal, but I’m also looking for dungeon teachers/ teams to learn from..! My focus have been mainly PvE, during the few hours I’ve actually logged on this account. And standing around in L.A..! Haha..
My overall experience of the game have been mostly focused on PvE and sometimes the occasional SPvP.. Would like to get my head around WvW, and suitable mesmer builds for my playstyle.. Any mesmers willing to give me advice is a friend on my list..!
Started out as a condition mesmer.. Mainly staff and suitable backup. By then I did SPvP, and confusion was really a true killer, until players knew what it actually did..!Started doing PvE and soon realized that power was more beneficial.. Invested in gear that made me a “zerker mesmer”.. Been playing through most of my PvE content as a full exotic geared zerker with a (20 III-X/20 II-IV/0/10 IV/20 III/X) trait setup. GS-Sw/Sw.
I’m thinking of switching back to a more hybrid-oriented build for WvW purposes.. Would love some real advice on gear, especially ascended setups for a poor mesmer!
The only ascended equipment I have at the moment, is the Distinguished Circle of Logic+Magical Infusion.. Which I thought suited my character in a true RPG manner.
I’ve been lazy, in my effort of dedicating time and smarts into this game.. But no more!
Any guild willing to take me in, will have an active player (although inexperienced), friendly, full of wit, mature (at times), dedicated towards guild improvement, eager to learn, smart and with the hope that I will enjoy some amazing content with you guys!
Only have around 1800 achievement points atm, but I just got Been There. Done That.
Would love a guild with many experienced members, in all aspects of the game.. But most of all I’m looking for a friendly, helpful environment in which to spend my time!
Open for whispers ingame and answers/ directions on the forums..!
Peace..
1. Ether Feast..!
20s CD, which is usually enough for any fight. With three illusions out it heals for half the health of a glass spec..! Which is quite substantial every 20 seconds! Traited with Mender’s Purity it delivers its full potential every time and can be used rather freely to cleanse a few conditions as long as you have the seconds to spare! The cast time might be 1 sec, but due to the mesmer’s ability to change focus from oneself, it is a real treat!
It VERY rarely leaves my healing slot. And it deserves credit for being the go to heal..!
2. Chaos Storm..!
I love the animation and sound of this skill..! It offers so much potential and players dread being caught in the middle of it.. The offensive and at the same time defensive capabilities of it is through the roof when placed right! It is the one skill that for me describes the mesmer profession at its core. RNG and fantastic animations included! The fact that you always get a chaos armor out of it, is just icing on its big fat cake..
The main reason why I have regrets on not playing staff more often! Top tier skill..!
3. Phantasmal Berserker..!
The number three spot could have gone to so many wondrous skills in our setup.. But I just love the way this guy cleaves mobs when positioned right! And the fact that it can be used as a sniper skill to a much better extent than Phantasmal Swordsman for example, is just awesome. Stand on a plateau and drop it on mobs/ enemy players and see those health bars drop, quickly! With a traited 12s CD, and Phantasmal Haste it is the champion killer of choice! Would love to see the cripple duration slighty increased.
This skill and Mirror Blade is the top reasons to why I have used GS for so long in PvE..!
I vote for nr 1..! I can’t press enough how much I want this change! That’s a change that would make a lot of difference.. I play mostly PvE, but to use Mind Stab atm, is like acting a target dummy/ waiting for attacks from all directions. Or move slightly and expect a unnecessary CD.. Otherwise I find it pretty good just the way it is. I’d rather have the movement fix ONLY instead of another bugged skill! BUT!!!
The blast finisher would suit the animation very well and for those who play WvW and dungeons frequently it would probably add some much needed support. But I wish to introduce another option that I find quite useful given my extensive use of GS in PvE:
Gain 10% of endurance for each target hit by the skill! (maximum 50%, but with the option to gain 15% per target if it only hits 1-2 targets..?) Brainstorming here yo..!
On top of the movement fix I might add, which in itself is an expected change imo..! The above option would sometimes provide an extra dodge (dmg mitigation + extra clone for shatter with DE) making GS a bit more viable in shatter builds, and not so kitten rigid when appropriatly using its phantasm for AoE.. In other words, often when engaging multiple targets! The endurance gain would be appropriate, since it furthers the defensive capabilites as well as the dmg aspect. (Build diversity anyone?)
Summary: Usable while on the move!! Remove 1 boon as is. Maximum of 5 targets within the current radius only!! 10% endurance gained for each target hit! (15% gained per target if only 1-2 targets)
Just a thought! Feel free to question my suggestion or improve on it..
Peace
I’m not going to comment on your original post, since I believe you’ve already been met with enough constructive critisism.. And very accurate such! I’m all for build diversity and everyone should play a build that suits their own playstyle and goals. Nevertheless, you should not blatantly ignore advice from more experienced players who have devoted countless hours to the game, and the understanding of its aspects.
After reading your wondrous replies to some of the mesmer community’s biggest contributors, (just check their post history if you question that fact) I have to wonder:
Why post in these forums in the first place if you don’t want constructive critisism from players who have obviously more (even documented) experience in the field? It sort of defeats the purpose of these forums altogether, wouldn’t you say..?
You say that posting pictures was for a social reason, but how social do you come across when responding in the way that you do? I’ve personally had a few breaks here and there since Beta, but I’ve continued to read posts on the mesmer forums during all of those breaks..! Some of the responders to your original post have made the time spent reading these forums very enjoyable, and often a valuable learning experience.
My suggestion is that you also treat it as such, and stop trolling in your own posts.
With that said, I hope you have a wonderful time in game, and continue to evolve!
Ever since the 15th I’ve noticed that the skill goes on a 4sec cooldown when used on elevated ground rather frequently.. Especially in the middle of stairs or when I use it anywhere with a rather steep axis. It just doesn’t trigger properly! Sometimes it takes as much as three attempts to get it off..! I can’t be the only one who’ve noticed this?!
And, I use the same targeting settings as before.. If anyone can confirm that this isn’t just happening to me then I’ll add it to the mesmer bug list for fixing, in a year or two..
Very annoying that the mesmer class soon doesn’t have any properly functioning weapons to choose from! It really bugs the h*** out of me.. No pun intended!
I have to disagree with the players who say that you shouldn’t play your mesmer until much higher levels. Because you should use the time you have with only the weapon skills to really learn how they work! Or else you’ll find yourself with traits at level XX but with no greater understanding of how to implement them. Sure, times are harder now then when I leveled my mesmer. But contrary to what most mesmer players are saying, I had a blast leveling my mesmer! And with the right mindset, you can too!
If I read between the lines of your post a bit, I’m getting the impression that you are making the same mistake I used to do.. (And still do to this day sometimes, just not on such a massive scale that I used to.) Not playing very consciously and reactive! Take the time to actually learn the correlations between skills and how to implement them properly, and you’ll find yourself overwhelmed (and dead) much, MUCH less frequent.
Use the various PvE mobs to train your skill and learn on which type of mobs you can get away with various techniques! And also remember how many of them you can engage at one perticular moment, given your cooldowns. If you are on an EU-server I would be very willing to teach you what little knowledge I have! It would probably make me a better mesmer also, since I’m still working kitten how to implement my “conscious and reactive” mindset.. More so now, since I haven’t played much in quite a while. I’m on Ruins of Surmia (EU) with some time on my hands if you want my humble advice..! And, if you’re not using your shatters.. (F1-F4) Start doing so!
Hello to you, fellow mesmer! (Or potential mesmer..)
First of all, I loved/still love Guild Wars! I’ve never played it to the degree that I wanted to, but the one thing that always struck me as I ventured through the game was this:
Community! No matter which outpost I ever went to in GW, I always managed to find a kind, intelligent, helpful player to just kick back with for a while.. Exchange builds or do a mission with and just enjoy the company and diversity that their character was bringing to the game. Sure, in the later history of GW almost everyone was/is running the same type of META builds, but the quality of the person behind the characters astound me to this day..! The mindset of these persons, the effort they put into one character (GWAMM or otherwise) made me realize, that GW in some weird way had managed to collect a set of players that all worked together towards a common goal:
To achieve greatness (a sense of pride for himself) by helping fellow players out!
(I still hand out runes an whatnot to GW players based on their current build..)
Which leads me to the topic of my post here on these forums:
I’ve played on and off since the first day of Beta. (Sadly, mostly off due to personal issues and IRL engagements..) But I’ve been a frequent reader of topics throughout the different forums since I’ve started out. I have multiple accounts in GW2, but as of now my focus is on this account, since my main character here is the only character I play!
In other words, an Asuran mesmer! Ares Fyra..
After Beta, the server I was on got cancelled and I found myself on Ruins of Surmia EU. I’ve never bothered to change since I’ve mostly done solo PvE anyway.. I can tell you now, that with all my on and off breaks, I’m not even “good” at playing mesmer.. This still remains untested, but from the small amount of SPvP I’ve done, I am a complete and non-reactive noob.. Haha.. (Still running Zerger/Phantasm spec.. GS/S/S for PvE)
Sure, I can handle myself in PvE, but what mesmer couldn’t?! I haven’t even explored all areas yet.. (Currently working on map completion..) I’m from Sweden, and GW2 doesn’t seem to be as attractive as I want it to be here.. At least not on my server..! I’m hoping that the “Megaserver update” will change how I interact with other players, but as of now, I find myself alone 90% of the time.. Something I would NEVER ever experience in GW. Taking on Zhaitan alone is by my experience not a random issue!
So.. As of now I’m looking for those players that correspond to the GW player base that I previously mentioned, those that take pride in teaching others “how to play”. The one thing that has struck me on these forums, is that the Mesmer forums seems to be the most giving, in terms of aquired knowledge. That’s why I haven’t given up on the mesmer class even though we are constantly exposed to bugs that I (personally) feel should’ve been corrected a long time ago! And I mean, a LOOONG time ago..!
One other thing that will change my gameplay immensely is the “trait reset update”.. I always hated that it was exclusive to PvP! And after the 15th, I can change up my traits just as I see fit, which will be a tremendous change for all the theorycrafting nerds out there, but especially for ALL PLAYERS wishing they’d traited different..! (Good luck!)
Sorry, (drunk at the moment) but all I’m looking for is players to play with, preferably those who think they can teach me something valuable when it comes to playing a mesmer in general but also likeminded people who just enjoy a good time! I’m more inclined to do WvW in the future..! But I believe my skills need to improve first!
Sorry in advance for just rambling, but hit me up in game! I’d enjoy the company!
Hello, my fellow mesmers!
I would like to join the guild as a scholar and to a limited degree, tester..!
I’ve had quite a break from GW2 recently, (mostly due to poor fps) but after buying a new gaming rig I’m ready to bring the pain!
Currently I’m doing PvE map completion on my main (and only) character..! If anyone could invite me ASAP, I would be grateful!
Ares Fyra / Ruins of Surmia (EU)
Loving the mesmer profession, and would like to better myself in all aspects! I hope to have many in depth discussions with some of you and most importanly, play together.
I’d have to admit that I’m somewhat confused right now after my break, but hopefully I’ll find a build which suits my playstyle, and at the same time offers a challenge..
Hit me up ingame! (If you’re reading this within the next hour or so, I’m online!)
Thx, Alissah..! Knew it was something odd! Working like a charm.
Sorry, for wasting your time.. CASE CLOSED!
I don’t want to resort to those desperate measures..
It doesn’t even light up when I hover over it.
And I can’t link the skill in chat..
I’m no kitten.. Ofc I’ve unlocked the skill.. ^^
The tooltip is showing correctly.
The “within range” is working correctly.
I just can’t activate it! Not through keyboard 5, or on my Razer Naga 5.
Not even by clicking on it! And it’s not a pathfinding issue.
It just isn’t responding..
I’m currently using “Berserker’s Pearl Sabre of Speed”.
Tried with “Berserker’s Pearl Sabre of Strength” also..
NOT working at all..
This is my first post on the forums.. I’ve been theorycrafting all day today, on a suitable mesmer build. After spending countless of gold on an offhand sword I quickly realize that the nr 5 skill: “Phantasmal Swordsman” doesn’t even work!
It’s crucial to my build, but also to all fellow mesmers! I’ve tried shutting down the game client, but that didn’t work.. For now I’ll report it as a bug and hope for a Quick fix! You listening A-Net..? Can’t believe if I’m the first mesmer noticing this..?!
Anyway, I want to know if any of you are experiencing the same problem, or if it’s bugged because I use a “Superior Sigil of Speed” in it or something.. Any answers or updates on this issue will be highly appreciated! Especially if it’s a Quick answer from ArenaNet..?! I’m stunned, really.. Was gonna try out a zerker build, but I guess I won’t.
(Can’t even click on the skill..!)
Greetings to all fellow mesmers btw! Loving the class!
