Fiona Fiore – Female Norn Mesmer & general nuisance
Kodash
Sword/Pistol and facetank everything with Black Powder. Works pretty much 1-80, regardless of build.
Similar effect with the Shadow Return portion of Shadowstep.
Untrue. Shadowstep’s Shadow Return will port you a maximum of 1200 units in the direction of the white circle.
IS does need fixing though, either the SR part or the tooltip.

Quote: Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons at the same time that we add Ascended weapons to the game. Thus Legendaries will remain “best-in-slot” items.
I don’t really get how it’s possible you’re misinterpreting that statement. It clearly shows you are 100% wrong. Legendaries will be on par with ascended. It says it right there. Just because an item is BiS, it doesn’t mean there can’t be a dozen other BiS items for that slot.
It’s going to stay exactly the way it is now, if you want to obtain maximum stats for a specific slot, there are a multitude of ways to get those stats (crafting, dungeons, WvW, etc.). Granted, ascended items can currently only be obtained by one or two ways, but they’re still BiS, ALL of them.
1000 dolyak kills to earn the title? Try that number squared! 1000 is only the 2nd tier…
Well it looks like I am going to be at it for a while. I am averaging about 20-30 dolyak convoys killed a night in the last few days since I have started doing it casually.
Yeah… if that number for the title is correct, it’ll take you over 90 years at your rate. Have fun with that

If you’re asking it individually, which class really matters that I choose to get the most kills? Than anything that hits multiple targets and doesn’t die fast, so anything but a thief.
Thieves can be pretty effective in a zerg actually. Shortbow auto-attack chains three targets, #2 is a spammable blast finisher, excellent for water fields. #3 will let you retreat a pretty great distance while evading, perfect if you find yourself overextended. And #4 hits an unlimited amount of targets!
With aoe stealth, you’re also a pretty good reviver.
Sure, you’re squishy, but that doesn’t really matter all that much if you can handle your class!
Thief rendering issues haven’t even been looked into yet as far as I know. I’m pretty sure the rendering delay of a thief un-stealthing has nothing to do with server-side culling. People have just been grouping those two things together because they usually don’t know what they’re talking about.
“Scale back stealth”… maybe be a little less vague on that?
Also, I believe you’ve been told this many times before, but if you have problems with perma-stealthed thieves on a regular basis, you’re doing it wrong.
Even in WoW with all the new speed increases to stealth, you have no chance to catch up to a mounted enemy while stealthed
It’s been quite a while since I last played WoW, but I’m pretty sure if you’re specced for stealth speed, you can catch up to a mounted player with sprint (with glyph maybe?) or rocket boosters. Just sayin’
That last example is wrong using shadowstep after refuge goes down will break stealth again. so you don’t have 10s stealth after you use a step.
What does work is using shadowstep dropping refuge then porting back after refuge goes down that doesn’t break stealth, the other example does.
No, stepping doesn’t break stealth. The animation’s just broken. You appear visible to yourself (and allies, I believe). But if you check your buff bar, the stealth icon remains.
I do understand that you think i am whining but I believe that it should not be necessary that everyone has to fight other players constantly but why if you are on your own do three people have to gank you when only one should suffice. This is the only problem that I have with WvWvW.
I have some theories why this happens, but the most likely is that they think you are a scout for a larger party.
Well if we didn’t murder every single enemy we see, where would the fun in WvW go? It’s the only reason to go there :P
And they should let you live just because they have superior numbers?
As far as PvP inside the actual JP is concerned, I usually say “live and let live”. But if you touch me, you’re dead.
If a good thief wants to drop combat, there’s pretty much nothing you can do about it (assuming he has cooldowns ready). Drop refuge, if people start aoe’ing into it, dodge from end to end (there’s usually just enough room), evading any knockbacks and such. When the refuge field is over, shadowstep outta there. Now the thief is 1200 units away, and has a remaining stealth time of 10+ seconds. Good luck catching him before he drops combat
If you’re letting 2+ people die to a single thief (or anything), there’s no helping you.
Also, stealth doesn’t break combat.
As the only Kodashi on BB Borderlands tonight, I’m having a blast
<3 you two BORN fellows!
I leveled S/P pretty much 1-80, Black Powder is seriously amazing for solo PvE. Once I was 80, I did my 100% world completion mostly with SB, since it requires the least attention when fighting weak enemies, and has supreme kiting ability for strong enemies, you can even solo champions with it, if you bring the time.
I use my WvW build (25/30/0/15/0) for dungeons, and it works just fine. I use S/D in WvW (lots more fun than D/D, and arguably more effective).
In dungeons I tend to switch between S/D and S/P, both have major control abilities. CnD + Tactical Strike is excellent for pretty much neutralizing any single big (non-boss) enemy you fight, and Black Powder is great for facetanking groups of weaker enemies.
A nice tactic vs stunnable bosses (the final bosses usually aren’t, but some are) is to tear down their anti-CC stacks with PW, then hit them with a tactical strike. If you’re lucky with getting stealthed, you can keep the boss dazed for a good ~30% of the fight (I run with a Sigil of Paralyzation, so my stun is longer).
My other weapon is always a SB however, so I don’t believe you can ever get rid of that. It’s simply hands down the most amazing, versatile weapon we have!
Bugged on Kodash.
Kill people. It really is the best way to do things. Optimally, form a small strike team. Alternatively, roll with the zerg (no fun, imo
). Also, defending a keep with siege can get you dozens of badges per minute!
If you want PvP rewards, go do PvP! What a shocker…
I’m guessing you’re from Seafarer’s Rest? ‘Cause, funnily enough, in my experience, you guys are the ones who really love logging out when almost dead. However, you don’t see me here starting whine threads, because I know your server isn’t to blame.
Don’t cast aspersions on an entire server (or, much more importantly, an entire nationality!) based on the actions of a few individuals and your inability to cope!
Just happened to me too…
Lost an exotic piece of equipment and an unlocked Black Lion Chest. I know my stuff can’t be retrieved, but this does sting quite a bit.
Well, if you’re dying a lot when running around solo (at any level), you’re definitely doing it wrong.
I went Sword/Pistol from pretty much 1-80, and it was completely smooth sailing. Lay down Blind, and make judicious use of interrupts. Pistol Whip usually does the job, and it has a nice evade during the flurry. If you need to interrupt at range, use Headshot. Often, interrupts aren’t even necessary, and you can just cleave your way through 5+ enemies by keeping up Blind. Use the stealth skill as your Heal skill, it can get you out of pretty much everything. I invested into crit traits and the ones on the bottom.
The tooltip clearly states that it should make you immune to fear, so something’s definitely amiss.
