Fixed: Changed from “offline” to “online” by accessing friends list from character select. Try messing with your online/offline status before trying to enter a map, see if that fixes it. worked for me.

We use personalized leaderboards (account based functionality of leaderboards) to check people’s home server in our guild because it allows us to see what server they are on even if they are pretended to be offline or if they actually are offline. At the moment when you click the “Log in to personalize” button it takes you directly to the account home page, if you navigate to the leaderboards from your account page, it tells you to “Log in to personalize” and doesn’t let you select personalized leaderboard stats by guild or friends list. When you click log in, it takes you to your account home page, you don’t even have to log in this time because, hey!, you’re already logged in, the leaderboards just don’t seem to think so. And from your account home page, you navigate to the leaderboards, you still cant personalize them, but you can “Log in to personalize” and when you click there to log in and personalize, you some how magically end up at the account home page.

TL:DR leaderboards aren’t agreeing with your log in system for the personalization system. If leaderboard customization requires an API key, please let the user know instead of taking them on a joy ride through a link loop. If its just broken, please fix the functionality, it would be greatly appreciated.

Since authenticated accounts dont have nearly as many problems being hacked as accounts with out gmail authenticators, perhaps consider removing this limit from authenticated accounts. The two fold effect of this would be that it would be less hassle for people who secure their accounts and it would therefore encourage people to get authentication on their accounts. If you center more conveniences around authentication it could drive people to get authenticators making their accounts more secure and making less work for your account compromise department.

Edit: also that 0.175% of your players that you would hurt with this change are probably people who are dedicated to the economy of your game and putting limits on them could hinder the market and cause large price spikes on some items for seemingly no reason.

People also need to stop saying “pay to win.” If you’ve ever played a game where there is a cash shop item that allows you to 2 shot other players while everyone else is running around doing almost no damage because they didn’t buy the 200$ BFG, THAT is pay to win. Getting more bag space or fancier gear that DOESN’T give you any actual advantage in pve, pvp or wvw (i.e ANY ASPECT OF THE GAME) is NOT pay to win. over all, people need to stop throwing around terms that they have no real clue as to what they mean.

2 questions really, when does the lunar new year festival in game end and second and perhaps more important question, why did the devs stop putting the “from->to” dates of in game events in the release notes?

Player who is responsible for 250+ player points on the board should be penalized for a less than 30 second DC to fix a server sync problem cause by the anet servers? makes total sense bro.

regardless of what ever idiotic ideas you have, i was almost entirely responsible for why the match was 450 to 125 in my teams favor. ALSO win/loss in tie matches is determined by which ever team has more added player points. i.e. my 250 points on the board would have mattered quite a bit (if the game ended in a tie). not having points on the board tied to your account is just a poor system. Penalizing DCs so harshly for players who rejoin almost immediately is just not right.

Not sure weather to post this in bugs or pvp forums, but I DCed from a ranked match, rejoined with 50 points to go in the game and had 0 points on the score board. The match ended and I got 0 credit for the match, 0 rank points and 0 reward track points for a match in which I was almost the top player before DCing. That’s total trash on the part of whoever “redid” your system for credit in pvp. It’s a serious problem and it needs to be resolved. Ranked matches should track your participation throughout the match. DCing should not affect this.

I have to agree with everyone that this has been the best WvW match up in the history of NSP; the close score, the awesome fights through out the week, the 30 some odd point leader changes through out the week, everything was absolutely the way WvW should be. Commanding NSP BL with no sleep for the last 24+ hours of the tourney with ToDblD was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in GW2 to date. Just to clarify a few misconceptions people are having, SBI’s SEA blob DID show up in force. KIWI came at us in the BL with 3 omegas and 30 people but we held hills against them and forced them off the bl. After that they sent 30 omegas and about 20-30 people at our EB keep and capped 2/3 of our side of EB but we held and forced them off the keep too (and had a 10 man team ninja cap SM behind them for the point tick, so epic!) Through out the night we were preparing for the SEA blob and our keeps were sieged hard. The one thing that kept us above water was the amazing cohesion our server had and the constant communication we had with our EB and map hopping commanders. The thing that won the match for us was that the 7 or 8 main commanders we had in the last 24 hours were all focused on getting objectives for the point tick, playing straight PPT. Regardless of the results, AMAZING fight for everyone involved! It was an absolute blast!

Remove megaservers from city zones

The way things stand, joining a megaserver map is just like joining an overflow. A large number of people, most of which you probably dont know and most of them dont care about what you have to say. Major cities were the last bastion of community in GW2 and to remove them and kittenize them into megaserver zones is something that is unconscionable.

When you are on a smaller server, this community becomes very important. If I call out in megaserver gendarran fields that NSP Garrison is under attack, the number of people who actually care is probably somewhere close to zero. At least if it were an NSP major city that was not megaservered I would have a chance to gain some interest. Now, as things stand, there is no way to bind a community together. There is no longer unity in the community. This makes it just a comm… a sham, a nothing.

If you care about the well being of your community and your server, please drop a comment and hopefully we can get megaservers removed from major city zones.

Daily reset bugged

game has been lagging horribly for the past several hours. almost everyone one my friends list got DCed and everyone I know in every zone is lagging horribly. There is nothing on the forums or GW2 twitter feed about any of this. What is going on?

Please add a report feature for players who are terrible at the game.
Also we need a report feature for worthless players and players who cant do anything with out exploiting.

Every instance you go in to everyone has a strategy for worthlessly skipping everything. I didn’t buy a game to actually play it, I just wanted to skip all the content. Mention doing things the proper way and people just suck too much to even do it. its so sad. And then people complain that doing instances gives no loot or money. Is this the guild wars way? is this the mentality that players are supposed to have in this game?

Even more unknown instance ownership caused by using the LFG tool is not the fault of the LFG tool? No incentives for using the LFG tool is not the fault of the LFG tool? allowing people to look for groups for instances they cant open themselves using the LFG tool is not the fault of the LFG tool? getting kicked from your own group by players who joined your group using the LFG tool (that you couldnt refuse) is not the fault of the LFG tool? interesting.

And although it is not the fault of the LFg tool, your whole account not being able to do the same instances is still a failing of the dungeon system and something that can/may be able to be fixed through the lfg tool.

Also, although most of these problems existed before the tool, they are compounded by its existence and are in and of themselves reasons for frustration that they could probably find a way to alleviate or fix through the proper implementation of an LFG tool.

Two of the main reasons that the new LFG system still fails are instance ownership rules and lack of incentive.

Instance ownership rules are still totally borked.
It’s wonderful, you’ve found a group for doing that instance you wanted to do and now you group is under way. Its ok that it took 5-10 minutes to find that one last group member. Everything is going great until ten minutes in to the dungeon when you wipe once and then someone’s fish catches on fire and they have to leave the group. Turns out, they were the one who opened the instance. Suddenly you have a loading screen and BAM you’re no longer in the instance and all your progress is lost. Your will to continue looking for a group is totally sapped and now you just say screw it and go do something else. Wouldn’t it be grand if this didn’t happen? What if instance ownership could be passed off instead of just kicking everyone out.? The person who opened the instance isn’t solely responsible for the progress the GROUP has made.

There is no incentive to create or join groups for instances that are “hard” or for instances that “take too long.”
People get on the fanboy train when you mention that big MMO from blizzard, but WoW really did get some things right. When there is a role that isn’t being filled in the LFG queue, they create incentive by giving an extra reward for that role. Here in GW2 you could add an incentive, an extra personal chest at the end of the dungeon, for people who use the LFG system to create or join groups for instance paths that aren’t usually done. Also, make a harsh penalty for people who leave a group before a reasonable amount of time has elapsed.

The LFG tool is great, but I feel its too little and too late and that there is huge room for improvement. Thank you for starting the ball rolling on this, but please continue to improve it along with also improving the current instance/dungeon system.

On a side note, as has been the complaint of many a people with cruddy internet connections across the world, it would also be great to make a 5 minute window in which you could re-connect and not lose instance progress for story missions (and SAB trib mode).

While we’re at the failures of the instance/dungeon system, we should probably also address story modes and personal reward levels. I have 10 characters on my account. Am I expected to sit through story mode 10 times in order to unlock explore modes on all my characters. And if that wasn’t bad enough do i have to suffer through 30+ levels of fractals PER CHARACTER in order to use my other characters in my 38 or 48 daily fractals? Pretty sure I’m not going to do 10 level 48 dailys every day as that would take roughly 15-20 hours to do so why not let my whole account enjoy the ability to enter the same dungeons and fractals as my most progressed character?

The group kick system is also quite flawed. As one commenter said, while in a dungeon or instance there really should be modified rules to this system. It really should be a group vote and not just a seconded motion to kick. There are 2 other people in the group who never had a say in it. This becomes most apparent in places like Jade Maw. On one occasion, I was slogging through fractals with a terrible group for two hours and when we finally got to Jade Maw, all I wanted to do was skip the trash and get the instance over with when two members of the group, who were from the same guild, just decided to kick me instead. The ability of two players to screw over another player, or indeed the rest of the group is just insane and a foolish way to have things set up. Not to mention those several occasions where I’ve had the instance opener DC for a bit and 2 people decide to vote kick him. WOOSH 2 hours down the drain.

Probably more dungeon/instance rants to come. I’ll just update the post when they come to me.

Server/character sync is just basically nonexistant through out most of SAB. If you have just slightly above 100ms, you start to encounter all kinds of neat bugs like dying to the poison on any mushrooms near poison water. Here though, the exploitative “dodge jump” seems to help immensely . It seems like most of SAB just wasn’t play tested hard enough. A test server for patches would be nice. Then they could actually see how latency affects these things and maybe they could clear up exploits and bugs before they make everyone angry like this one.

I have a moderately good computer so I don’t normally encounter bugs of this nature, but since a friend with a similarly good computer has had the same problem I have decided to ask “what’s up A-Net?”

The problem: For me, it was the sound of my guardians staff 1 (lawn mower staff) ability that was constantly looping in my audio feed from the game. No other audio was coming from the game and the sound persisted when I changed weapons and even when I turned the master volume slider down to zero. Beyond that, I had to bring up the task manager in windows to fully kill the GW2 process even after successfully loging out of the game through the game options. Launching a new client “fixed” the problem, but it is an odd problem to have in the first place.

For my friend, it was looped ambient audio from Lions Arch, and it would play the Lions Arch ambient audio even when he changed zones. In his case no other audio played either (no attack sounds or running/movement sounds) it was just the LA ambient audio looping forever. In his case, he just closed the game and re-opened it, he did not have to task manager to kill the process.

I was just wondering if any other uses have had this problem and/or if there is a permanent fix for this so that it wont happen again. Cheers -Arlien

I was just jumping around to a bunch of servers trying to complete this. Apparently there is a dev/GM on Yak’s Bend that is resetting all these events in the level 80 zones. GL and HF.
