Let me explain:
You have an mmr to put yourself against more or less equal skilled opponents. This so that the game feels furfilling since stomping or getting stomped gets old fast.If you are better then you current mmr (you belong on a better devision) you’ll win more then you lose hence you go up in devision. If you lose more you’re playng below your mmr and go down a devision.
Except your MMR appears to be completely separate from the league system, meaning two Emerald players can have very different MMR:s. The league divisions themselves do not in any way reflect player skill. And of course Anet didn’t even reset the MMR.
It’s just another noob-friendly grind-based system that lets everyone progress.
You should play more necro just because I think people have adapted to shut down the dragonhunting.
Easily explained! Dragonhunters perform better against Dolyaks than Dragons.
I propose they are renamed to Dolyakhunters.

So this is why the Aura nerf happened. The Shield absorbed all their energy. XD
I was waiting eagerly to progress my Axe collection today, but to then find out its still bugged, and to then notice there were no balance changes what so ever.
What’s wrong with doing micro patches on a weekly basis to fix bugs that pop up than wait 1, 2, 3 months to fix things. Constantly playing this waiting game isn’t fun, its like waiting for a date who never shows up.
Someone did the research on all the time-gates for the new Legendary, Astralaria, and it isn’t pretty:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3u9p9c/astralaria_and_the_timegates/
For those unaware, basically starting from scratch, it will take you a minimum of 87 days (62 if you buy your deldrimor) to complete it. As the poster ‘Giggos’ on GW2Reddit puts it, “Not because they lack skill or don’t put in enough effort, but because someone decided to add, in my opinion, a sick amount of timegating”.
Anet, I understand you want to make things difficult for these new HoT legendaries, I get that, and that’s fine, but adding all these time-gates doesn’t make it any more difficult, it just makes it a downright nuisance. Please stop adding all these time-gates – it literally adds nothing but frustration for someone working towards a legendary when they know it’s going to take at least 62 days of pointless waiting.
Furthermore, if all the points ‘Mexay’ wrote on the GW2Reddit thread is correct, then I’m stopping this Astralaria collection cold and no longer going for it.

If a guild is going to try to force 100% rep it is their problem to enforce it. There is no reason to waste ANet’s time making a mechanic that goes against the design of the game in order to support it.

Haha, so yeah, it’s pretty much chance over for me. Don’t have the time to sit in overflows while nothing happens (I’m on very limited gaming time this month) then complete X number of 45 minute events to re-open the pavilion for me.
Sigh.
Oh well. It’s a shame, because I really love the idea behind this update, and I’d love to spend the time I do have available playing through this LS update, but the way it’s set up there’s simply no way it’s going to happen.
The drama from this was in a really similar thread on Reddit just recently. A lot of people doing this (like myself, and my friends), do it legitimately with no involvement from ‘pugs’ other than when we sell the spots.
Does it affect you that we do this? No. We complete the content with x party members, who are all in on it, then we sell however many spots we want to sell. People CHOOSE to join, we don’t force anyone to join and we don’t kick anyone after we’ve received payment. There are many many many many many people who could vouch for me and my friends, so unless you have proof of me or my friends scamming someone or kicking PUGs at end of runs, kindly calm down on your generalizations, they’re pretty insulting.
they deleted real teamplay when they said “all classes heal themselves!!111” and then they didn’t thoughtfully balance classes to give replacement roles. it’s this silly casual pve philosophy of “no hard roles” that gives us 0 teamplay. queue fanboys yelling the opposite.
Am I the only one that uses Google?
To make it simple and perfect for open world dueling with pve gear all they would need to do is not implement it.
Fixed it for you.
(TL:DR provided below)
Before I start my rant, I would like to ask a simple question; Does GW2 feel like more of a chore, than actually being fun?
The reason I ask is because I believe I have isolated the cause of this phenomenon, aka what makes GW2 feel like work. The answer is restricted, time-gated, and ‘daily’ content (no surprise here really).
Let me elaborate; GW2 was built to be a casual, community-based MMO. While I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, many of the design choices in the rewards system ended up backfiring, or being fundamentally flawed, and based of shallow ideologies. Things like ‘daily’ achievements are base attempts to get players playing every single day. Having something like dailies isn’t entirely a bad thing though, but once these daily activities start to pile up, GW2 starts to become work.
The game started with daily achievements and mineral nodes, and over the past 11 months has slowly picked up more and more ‘daily’ content. First it was Fractals of the Mist, and getting your daily FOTM chest (per 10 levels), then it was meta-events and getting your daily rare. As if that wasn’t enough ‘daily’ content, now we have daily dungeons! It’s getting absurd how much work you have to do each day, especially for a game that’s suppose to be ‘play how you want’. While it’s true that nobody is forcing you to do all these things, the restricted nature of these rewards compel people to do them every single day.
Content Restricted to Once Per Day
- Daily Achievement
- T6 Resource Nodes
- FOTM Chests (per 10 levels)
- Meta-Event Bonus Chests
- Charged Quartz Crystal Transmutation
- Dungeon Reward Bonus Chest
While ‘daily’ content keeps players playing every single day, time-gated content keeps players playing over the long-term. Things like ascended gear (laurels and guild commendations), monthly achievements, and the recently introduced celestial gear are all shallow incentives to keep players playing over many months.
Time-Gated Content
- Monthly Achievements
- Pristine Fractal Relics
- Laurels
- Guild Commendations
- Celestial Gear
- Dungeon Tokens
These two systems of keeping people playing every single day, and over long period of time (while effective in the short term) quickly loose their effectiveness and cause GW2 to become more work than it is fun. Even the so called ‘living story’ updates are just additional shallow content that compels players to continue playing. Instead of making high-quality and/or difficult content the source of progression, Anet opted to take the easy-route and just make everything time restricted somehow. I urge you Anet to re-evaluate your rewards system, or else I fear the fire of GW2 will soon extinguish.
TL:DR To summarize, the piling up ‘daily’ and time-gated content is just a shallow attempt to keep people coming back, and to restrict those that play many hours a day, causing GW2 to feel like a chore.

Let me list somethings you forgot to add:
1. If guardian traits to be a bunker, they do no damage.
2. If guardian traits for healing they do no damage.
3. Their boons are gained via utility, meaning they have lengthy cds.
4. Guardian has no mobility compared to ele.
5. Guardian lacks the diversity of ele.The first two apply to ele as well. For the third, guardians also have their virtues, and have boons on weapons skills as well, not just utility slots. Fourth, though faster thanks to lightning flash, ele’s aren’t really very mobile, that’s just an afterimage from pre RTL nerfs.
5. Explain? There’s also the huge matter of which game mode OP is talking about though, but I assumed mostly pve based on the activities mentioned and wvw (which I agree we’re good at).
Virtues are utility with a lengthy cooldown.
No, ele has a passive run speed buff, guardian does not. Swiftness can be used via staff and retreat, but the damage is further degraded.
Guardian can’t be any role, they are mainly melee characters. While ele can be efficient at ranged and melee and transition seeminglessly between different attunements which gives them a array of versatile skills.
Ele can be effective in pvp while having a heal build, guardian however is stuck with mediocre damage and limited mobility.
Like a post noted, elementalist can do everything but excels at nothing. If the OP wants to specialize he/she should probably pick the class that meets his expectations.

First of all , thanks to the people who are reading this,I maybe got some new views on some different topics for you that maybe are worth thinking about.
First of all , I were really hyped for this game and after 1-2 month I was disappointed that this leaks of some core elements of gw1 , since they promised to keep everything cool about gw1;) but i came back for some time and I am playing a bit at the moment but the game still needs some changes in my opnion so lets start :
This wont be a order for what is most important coming first I feel like everything is important so my first topic:
1)Combos
1.1)Combo fields and finisher
I played yesteday with a friend who is for some time lvl 80 now so i called as warrior that he should give me a fire field for my leapfinsiher and he said “why”?
I was really shocked that a lvl 80 person doesnt know how the combination system works and thats a thing where you should work on , start early on to tell people what a combo field is , how to use them and whats the result.
I was thinking maybe to highlight the fields with a green or blue border that people in combat actual can see if there is something or not cause we all know if you are in a large fight there are Many partical effects ! .
1.2) Combos in generll:
So if people use them they should get rewarded for doing so , right now it doesnt feel right because some of the combos are just simply to weak . They should get buffed a little bit more that it actual feel good if you use them.
1.3)Combos because we playing 2 builds which are matched for each other:
In gw1 we had actual team build – you play earth shacker warrior , I play blast ele , we get a enegery drain mesmer and a support , ust to give you a little example . So the warrior called for knowdown , the ele and mesmer bursted the target in the same time and a meteor came down for double knowdown , this was a great combat play with your team mates but in gw2 we dont need to this , why ? Actually cause you can finsih every content of the game just by spamming your skills on cd and because most of the game 98% is to easy . I am missing the option to create team builds , that clases are working better together if they play xx and yy ! . I hope you know what i mean cause else i will go more in detail!
2)Safe and Load Builds!
We had this in gw1 and it created again the envioment for Buildwars , creating uniq builds for different parts of the game . Since we need to pay for change our builds doesnt mean that there cant be a option to quick change them . Hey i got 1g in my pocket ,so why dont let me change my build right now!?
3)Minigames
3.1)Playing with friends and guild members?
Gw2 is a game where we want to play together but since 1 year we all miss to compete sactum spirit , keg brawl and all other minigames with our friends , why the hell arent we allowed to join as group ? There should still be some kind of matchmaking that since you just could gather up against randoms , but like in keg brawl there isnt really a otpion to play unfair as team . there must be a solution to this problem
3.2)Huge Tournamets against your own server and others:
Gw1 had once in a year a event called snowball MAT.This was a event where you joined a tournament in the minigame snowball arena as a group of 8 people from your guild. You represented you guild and fought about glory and good prices , everyone i knows remember this one and feel bad about not being able to have such a good time in gw2 . I mean this is just sad because actually this would improve the guilds and again the fun and teamplay !
4)Hardcore mode:
Since I said earlier is gw2 simply to easy. Most of the contant you spam your skills and thats it . Maybe you have some tatics like , ball on this enemie ( talking about dungeons ) or something else but it really doesnt feel hard. Ofc a lot of this problem is because anet still doesnt got a good balance between the clases like the most groups need something special and it wont be a ingi or necro (hahah
) so there is aswell work to do but a hardcore mode is something really missing.

Alright guys, looking for a little help. I’m looking for a combo similar to Elite Labyrinthine for Monks in GW1. Most people who played Guild Wars knows what I’m talking about. The usual set-up, Laby dyed black with Chaos Gloves and a good Dread Mask to top it off. I rolled an Ele Norn for the tattoos, so here’s what she looks like in the buff.
Right now, there’s not much to work with it seems in-game, but I haven’t checked all the armors out piece-by-piece yet either. Hoping you guys that have been playing longer than myself can help me out a bit. I want to be able to have the tattoos showing, which ANet did an outstanding job with covering up practically all potentially matching sets from what I can see on the Wiki.
Thanks guys.
Sorry…agree Ogre. Reported the offending posts and moving on.
You’re just reporting ALL of our posts. Trolling us for not agreeing with you is inflammatory.
Arya, Achilles, stop please. Everyone else should stop engaging with them. Waste of time. Both of you learned how to criticize. Congrats. Your opinion is there for everyone to see, now leave the thread. This space is being used for a community that you did not join. Show some respect.
I don’t want to read your bullkitten. I want to see GvG content.
This post has so many hypocritical comments its laughable.
Their opinion is valid just as much as yours if not even more so. This is a Guild Wars 2 community, they both have accounts, they must have joined the community at some point. (Don’t try and use the “I meant our specific fantasy bad ‘GvG’ community” as a defense – Why? What was it you said… Oh right. “Show some respect.” Two way street pal. Excluding people isn’t exactly respectful either.)
“I don’t want to read your bullkitten” – See respect comment.
What you are doing is not “GvG”. It is organized WvW at best. Don’t be disheartened when that gets pointed out to you.
(Guild versus Guild, also known as GvG or Guild Battle, is a strategic form of PvP which matches two teams of eight players from different guilds against each other in the Guild Halls.)
“I want to see GvG.”
Enjoy it. The above video is what this community wants and what ANet has failed to figure out that they need to bring back.
I still find it hilarious that this is called GvG
