Several of my friends were permabanned for asking for cash refunds on their broken town clothes. A number of these were leaders and influential members of my RP guilds, and since the (mega)Server-Merge has made finding PUG RP such a miserable hassle, all of my RP guilds have turned into ghost towns. I’m talking about literally almost two hundred players that I haven’t seen online since May, and I’m the last stubborn hold-out, because I like my actual characters too much.
To be blunt, the volume of communication does not matter, while the content of communication remains the same. You have no one on staff who I trust or respect. I do not believe your statements, I do not value your perspectives. You could never post again. You could post a thousand times a day. You could post nothing but vines of yourself making rude gestures and cursing unintelligibly into a megaphone. It’s all the same.
My main problem with GW2 is the lack of content.
It’s been a year and a half since release and we’re essentially playing the exact same game.
Does LS not count as content? Sure it’s only temporary, however I found that the LS updates every 2 weeks seemed like more content overall, compared with any other mmos. Also what about Teqautl, Triple Wurm, EOTM, and pvp revamp? Pretty sure these are fairly large bits of content added, on top of LS.
Hi. I took a several-month hiatus from the game. Please show me where the LS content is.
Content that gets flushed when it’s done is the same as content that never existed, from my perspective. The long-term impact is that a city I liked to RP in isn’t really a city any more, it’s a map they spent a tremendous amount of time and effort making look different, then scrubbed all functionality from so no one wants to spend any time there. Whee.
Not that I can RP anyway. Thanks, Megaserver Server-Merge to Overflow!
The future looks “bright” in the same manner as a blinding void.

Can we get…
… a thread title that actually indicates thread contents? Golly, that sure would be swell!

Difficult to even get myself to play after patch.
Map completion does not require PvP in any way. It just requires you to be able to get into keeps in WvW over a period of time. You don’t actually have to participate in any way.
Well, that’s not necessarily true.
“Hark! What are these foul harpies I see investing our lands! I shall dispatch thee, surely my Queen will reward me!”

“Hail fellow travellers! Would thoust careth to help me dispatch thy foulest harpies from thine lands?! Surely, we could shareth in thy…”

Not PvPing doesn’t mean being an idiot in a PvP enabled area. It just means being wary and running away when you see red names. That’s how I did it.
That’s PvPing. Being in a PvP zone, where players are trying to kill other players, and some of them will try to kill you, is PvP, whether or not you encounter them. If you evade them, it’s just shifted the medium of conflict to stealth and detection instead of directly hurling pixels at each other’s HP.
The only way to enter WvW and not have PvP happen is if you know the other two servers are down. If the only players who can potentially be on the map are non-hostile, that’s not PvP. Again, even if you never see another player, just the potential that they’re out there changes the gameplay experience. It is PvP, and it is inescapable.

“We’re looking into your complaint” is not the desired response, because what it’s usually followed by is “We looked into this problem and determined it’s not actually a problem at all.”
What we’d like to hear is “Here are what specific parts of this we see as problems, and are working on, and here are what parts of it we think are right on target, whether or not you like it.”
That would let me know if I should wait and see, or if I should abandon ship now. I’m draining resources without buying anything from them either way, so it’s not like they’ve got any incentive to obfuscate and keep me around.
Map completion does not require PvP in any way
It just requires you to spend a tremendous amount of time in zones where other players are trying very hard to kill you. That sure sounds like PvP to me. Maybe I’m crazy.
There is no sinister ANet agenda to disrupt RP and inconvenience RPers.
There’s zero useful outreach to us either. We are a non-concern. Clearly, at no point in the development of any of these features have they said “how will this impact the Roleplaying Community?” Other Communities get dedicated full-time development teams, we don’t even get remembered during their planning sessions.
The only advice we’ve been given, “Join a Big Guild”, is completely ignorant of the structure of most casual RP. For a lot of us, most RP is walk-up style with strangers. When we do make RP guilds, they tend to be small-to-medium sized, and friendly with a handful of other RP guilds with compatible stories. Also, not all of my alts are in any one RP guild. Each one is a different character with a different storyline, and they don’t all fit in the same groups. I’ve got my five Guild Slots filled with five different small close-knit guilds, and wish I could have a dozen more. I wonder if a super-helpful dev will come in and help me decide which guild I should quit, which storylines I should abandon, which characters I should put on the shelf, so I can join some Mega-Guild whose only value to me is weighting Merged-Overflow(1) Selection?
(1) – Megaserver is their word. This was a Server Merge, with a marketing buzzword to diminish the “Game is Dying” bad press.

20 Characters
13 Level 80s
1 with 100% Map Completion
9 with 100% PvE Map Completion. No force could compel me to map WvW again, and I deeply regret the time I wasted on the first one. Since I didn’t buy the Gift of Battle before they added a mandatory WvW rank to it, my Gifts of Exploration are worthless.
I had a problem with SB last night (see post a few pages back) but no biggie. I like seeing a lot of people in-game and I like having the dynamic events populated again. This is preferable to server merges, in my opinion. Once they work the bugs out of keeping parties together, my particular gameplay will be improved. I can’t speak for the other complaints but I’ll take this over empty maps.
This is a Server Merge. It’s just that the Server they merged us all with is Overflow.
Am I the only one that feels like this is just a containment thread to keep the forums clean of all the complaints?
They don’t respond, they don’t care. I doubt they even read these threads.
Most likely the problems are here to stay and the usual answer applies, as always, “Deal with it!”.
You are definitely not alone in that feeling. This isn’t a feedback thread, it’s a quarantine zone.
Also, I’m unsure why everyone’s bought into their marketing buzzword. Server Merge is Server Merge, no matter what they want to call it. It’s just that the server they merged us all with was the kittening Overflow.

Maybe instead of making a clique-ish thread about the injustices done to RPers there could have just been a thread about breaking up gaming communities.
There absolutely could have been. Still can. Go make it yourself.
I’ll save you the trouble of posting again in this one by summarizing everything you’ve said, and everything you seem likely to say in the future: “Other people are talking about their own problems. Why can’t they talk about MY problems? Time to throw a tantrum about how entitled THEY’RE all acting.”
Wildstar is patched and ready for pre-order Beta Weekend #3
You’re moving to another NCSoft game and you think it’s going to be better? Why?
I’m just killing time until they get to my refund ticket. If they give me my cash back, I’ll remove all my billing data, delete the game files and flag customer support to perma-ban my account to make sure somebody doesn’t hack it later on once I’m no longer paying attention. If they give me gems only, no cash refund, I’m not sure what I’ll do.
Just found out Diessa Plateau was added to the list. Discussed this with a friend and I have decided that I am going to start ERPing disgusting, horrible things in /say. It’ll get rid of the trolls in a hurry, and what better protest? Take -that-, megaservers!
All that will do is get you a crowd of people taking screenshots, until the GMs ban you.
Fourth Point: Without the PvP lockers to mix and match armor previews, much of my incentive to hunt down new pieces is suppressed. Why would I waste the time, without the advance certainty that the pieces won’t look like garbage together?
Although the PvP lockers are gone, the feature you’re looking for is part of the bank now, so there’s still an easy way to preview the different possible looks.
Grumble grumble clothing tonics should be outfits grumble.
Ah, thank you for the good news then!
Suggestion to ANet: put an NPC or something standing by the old locker locations who says something about where to find that same utility now. In fact, make it part of his ambient dialogue as well as something you can ask about with “F”, because the Megaserver dogpile means I’d have to stand around the Heart of the Mists for 20+ minutes before my computer would load all the people there.
So artificial inflation of map population take priority over communities that share similar interests? This is just a MMO now with RPG gone out the window.
Correct. Welcome to the new Megaserver Potemkin Village.
I chose Tarnished Coast because I like to Roleplay. I did not choose other servers because I do not like to do… whatever it is that other servers to. So far, from what I can see from the new mix, what other servers like to do is Grief Roleplayers. TC is a big server, and the weighting mechanism seems to put me on maps with a lot of other TCers pretty often, but now they’re filling in the edges with stragglers from other servers, who do not want to be around Roleplayers and more than Roleplayers want to be around them.
Right now, the Megaserver system fails every need I may have had. You could fix it by giving us a checkbox: “Are you a Roleplayer?”, that overrides all other map concerns to dump you on maps with/without Other Roleplayers. It could even be unchecked at will for people who only like to RP sometimes, or don’t find dungeon runs with RPer teams efficient, or whatever.
Not that I believe you actually care. The important thing about the Megaserver system is that it maintains the illusion that the population is dwindling, without dreaded Server Merges. If there’s one thing you’ve proven over and over again, it’s that the needs of RPers aren’t even rock bottom on your priority list, they’re simply a non-concern.

I looked in the wardrobe voult recently and found a “Destroyer Scythe”. Is this some form of teassing for a new class/weapon or just another skin for staff named “Scythe” that haven’t been released yet.
It’s just a staff skin.
First point: Shoving all complaints into one huge dogpile thread isn’t for ease of reference on your part. Every time you trot out that tired old lie, it’s just flogging your flatlined credibility. There is nothing easy or convenient about digging through this heap. This is about containment and suppression.
Containment, to keep our dissatisfaction from crowding all the happy ignorant fluff threads off the front page, and to make sure the only thread titles for actual discussion of your failures are marketing approved, fully sanitized. Suppression, because it’s impossible to have a discrete conversation about a small part of this fairly involved feature change without following the whole enormous messy thread, and carrying out any such discussion contributes to the overall bloat that intimidates others from joining in. You have corralled us all here because you don’t want us to post, and don’t want anyone to notice or care when we do. This isn’t a feedback thread, it’s an Oubliette.
Second point: Gem refunds for items that you’ve broken are worthless. What’s the difference between a bunch of ruined costume pieces composting in my inventory until I take the time to manually delete them, and a big heap of gems? Nothing. There is no difference. Your gems are trash. You have proven that nothing we buy from you is safe. It doesn’t matter what gorgeous things your art team manages to produce, I will never spend gems again, under any circumstance. You deserve to take the hit in cash refunds and chargeback fees. You have earned that penalty.
Third Point: Now that all Transmutation Charges are unified to Transmutation Crystal rates, why not lock Transmutation out entirely until level 80? I’d hate for some confused nooblet to accidentally use a charge on a low level character to keep a neat sword or his starting class headgear without knowing how badly he’s being ripped off.
Fourth Point: Without the PvP lockers to mix and match armor previews, much of my incentive to hunt down new pieces is suppressed. Why would I waste the time, without the advance certainty that the pieces won’t look like garbage together?
That’s all I’ve got for now on Wardrobe, Transmutation and Outfits. Now to go waste time screaming at the wind about how the Megaserver system is an attack on small-guild RPers.
If you double-click on them, instead of initiating the old transmutation, they get flushed into your cache of “charges”. Since the rate of Charge use at all levels, not just 80, is comparable to the Blue Crystals, your Yellow Stones are effectively 1/3rd as useful. Happy patch day!
“Gem refunds”…? So I spent $20 on town clothes that now look horrible and Arena Net graciously allows me to get 1600 “gems” that I can use for… nothing, because the only items I would be interested in no longer work as they should.
Oh well, I guess you live and learn (specifically, you learn which companies’ products to never buy again).
You’ve summed up my thoughts precisely. Funny thing, they’d almost reeled me back in with some of these other changes, before their new system gobbled up all my town clothes and returned a big greasy kitten to my wallet.
I hope the artists and designers who worked hard making all the ruined items find a company that doesn’t just kitten away their work, too.
Take a deep breath and submit a refund ticket. They’ve already posted a sticky explaining that they are offering refunds.
Gem refunds. They could pay me back in twigs and pebbles and it would be just as valuable. But if I ask for my cash back, customer support will flush my account entirely, just like they did to my guild leader.
Will these refunds be in Gems only, or will I be able to get my actual money back?
Gems only….
I believe this is 2 fold: people can buy gems with gold, but also because you bought gems, and not the items directly, they have no obligation to return money. It’s in the ToS. In addition I would caution against asking for money back because it can lead to you never being able to purchase gems again because Anet does not want to spend more money on charge backs.
You say that like it’s a bad thing. They talked me out of ever giving them any money again more than a year ago. At this point, blocking my right to buy gems would be like revoking my license to drive the Lunar Rover. If I have to jump through additional customer service hoops to extract my money from this failure parade, so be it.
Will these refunds be in Gems only, or will I be able to get my actual money back?
I haven’t touched the game since last year for various reasons. I’m thinking of checking back in, but I had a couple characters who were approaching parts of their personal stories that heavily involved Lion’s Arch. What the heck happens to those missions, with no Lion’s Arch for them to happen in?
Also, what’s going on with Elementalists in PvE now? When I left, they had very few options, for a class allegedly designed as a “jack of all trades”.
And finally, does the new WvW map count towards world completion for a Legendary? I only had a couple keeps left, and I’m still sick of that mess even after taking a break for several months.
