Hi Niacin, I just want to say that I use a Sword main hand build which I find to be very good. When I get home I’ll reply with the build specs.
When you guest on a different server, you don’t switch to a different connection, it’s the same. You can actually check this by using Resmon, like you said lol. There’s a range of networks you connect every time you login in, which is something like 64.25.3*.*, I tried different nodes, having similar consequences.
It definitely changes. Even different maps have different IP addresses. The IP address range for the game servers are 206.127. *. * (not sure about 3rd octet, probably starts at 128).
I’ve been doing some more troubleshooting and can confirm this is NOT related to level3.net as I do not route through their equipment.
I’ve done network tests from my connection to two different GW2 server IP addresses: 206.127.159.183 (Gunnar’s Hold, Mount Maelstrom) and 206.127.159.243 (Underworld, Mount Maelstrom).
I see absolutely no difference in the network path for either server, even up to the point it reaches PlayNC (Anet) 206.127.157.102 (206-127-157-102.plaync.com).
It stands to reason that the issue is beyond this device, but this is most likely a firewall as packets do not get responses beyond this hop.
Please investigate this.

Tried this, However doesn’t really help me as i play 90-95% of the game in WvW. There was no lag for about 10-15mins, but did come back.
I see what you mean, I wouldn’t say this is particularly helpful for people who do WvW unfortunately.
On the note of the lag returning, I would suggest trying another server. I did try more than one – the first was as unplayable as my home server.
This is simply a work around. The real problem needs to be addressed by Guild Wars 2 staff and their networking/server teams.
I have this issue as well as other members of my guild in the UK.
I’ve noticed that it occurs on my server Underworld after around 6 PM BST.
I want to highlight a method I’ve been using to circumvent this for other users: If you use the guest functionality to guest on a different (and perhaps lower population server) it seems to completely remove skill/movement lag. I have had luck choosing Gunnar’s Hold as a guest server where I’m finding no lag at all during game play.
I do see there is actually lag whilst I am typing to my guild though, which I suspect is hosted on a different server anyway (chat lag seems to be completely independent to skill/movement lag).
In the interest of players providing more information to the Guild Wars 2 staff, you can monitor the lag by using the Windows program resmon.exe (it comes with Windows 7) and choose Gw2.exe under the Network tab. I wonder if we will be able to highlight a common remote IP address range or so by collaboratively providing this information.
