I use the regular Naga for the same reasons. My Naga has developed the dreaded double click issue many people have, but in game it doesn’t usually matter…it’s when I use it for regular computing that it is a hassle.

If you are interested in the Living Story you could also go do the Lion’s Arch event. It scales you up to level 80 and there are tons of people doing it. Not quite the same as just having people around you while leveling but might break up the monotony.

I started back around August I think and I remember the first server I picked felt quite dead. I ended up deleting my characters (none over 30) and going to Tarnished Coast where I usually see people out in the world…although right now it’s more sparse because of the popularity of the Living Story. You could try guesting to another server to see if more people are around also.

I recommend Tarnished Coast, as long as you don’t mind roleplay (you don’t have to participate but it seems to just irritate some people).

I just started the game in August and I originally picked some random server and I really never saw anyone in the 20+ zones, like at all! I felt alone, would ask for help or a question (politely) in map and get silence…so I looked at the WvW rankings and went with the top server in the second tier which happened to be TC. I chose to delete my character so that I could transfer for free (just put all your stuff in your bank as it goes with you as does your money). Now I’ll be honest there aren’t TONs of people in the middle zones, but there’s usually a few and most are helpful & friendly. Only downside is you do run into overflows, especially at peak times and during big events…but I figure it’s still better than the top 3! Good luck with whatever world you pick!

As a fellow newer player (just started back in August) I also had trouble with the elementalist and opted to work on a mesmer instead – worked out great for me. Still a light armor profession but the clones and phantasms made a big difference on my survivability. That said however, only swap professions if you want to. The elementalist just has a steeper learning curve because of how easily they die. I’ve made a new one since and have done better on her now that I am more familiar with general game mechanics.

Along with what Berformet said there is a pvp icon (two crossed swords icon) on the menu in the top left of the screen – If you click that and press “Go to the Heart of the Mists” you can find those purple portals to Lion’s Arch and then portals to all the other major cities once you’re in Lion’s Arch. I wish I had known about this little trick sooner as it’s a convenient and free way to get back to Lion’s Arch from anywhere! You might have to do the pvp tutorial the first time you did it, but it’s quick and easy and doesn’t involve any real pvp if you’re concerned about that!

You can find armor and weapons at the gold heart icons you’ve completed on level appropriate maps. They cost karma instead of gold, so should help with your money woes as well! Every heart vendor might not have something appropriate for you, but most have a decent selection.

Just thought of another thing also. What are your bags full of? If any of it is crafting materials press the little gear on your inventory window and say deposit collectibles. If it’s gear you don’t need you can sell it on the trading post like you mentioned, or salvage it using salvage kits. The kits break it down into crafting materials for the most part and you can then deposit them to get them out of your bag. Also you can buy bigger bags (on the trading post) when you have the cash to help with inventory issues.

I just started a couple weeks ago – Arden Kynaston on Tarnished Coast!

I’m new and have also had trouble meeting people in game. There are people around, but no one really talks much! I enjoy soloing so it’s not been too bad, but a couple friends would be nice in such a social game! Anyways I am on Tarnished Coast if you need anything, my mesmer is mid 50s and her name is Arden Kynaston. I have a few other alts under 10 as well. I am new and consequently I am sure not very good, but I’m having fun regardless!

I just started a couple weeks ago (whenever the last free weekend was). I’m on Tarnished Coast though…it’s been tough meeting people so if you need help with anything ask. I know there’s a way to guest to other servers although I’m not sure how yet. I’m mostly on my mesmer who is mid-50s (Arden Kynaston). I’ve really just been solo exploring, doing hearts, and personal story so far.

My only issue is that as a new player (just started with last free weekend) I had no idea I’d get screamed at for killing the event monster that popped up on my UI. Better communication is all I ask…I don’t have an issue with the farming groups other than that…I can hang around for a minute and get one hit in with the group and then it’s win-win.

I think I’ll focus on one character, but still do low level crafting for the xp on everyone. The rerolling issue is a very good point. I am testing out all the professions to try to avoid deleting high levels but you never know. Right now 40 or 50 silver seems like a lot when I only have about 3 gold, but I imagine at 80 it’s not so much.

I just picked up the game last week and I am still picking my “main.” Before I get too invested I wanted to know if in general it is more efficient/cost effective to level all crafts on one character or to spread them out between alts so I don’t have to always swap crafts. Is swapping expensive? Is there a perk to doing them all on one character? Downside? Thanks for any help!!

I am looking for a guild on Tarnished Coast server. Mostly I am looking for a guild to chat with and learn from as I just picked up the game on Monday. I’m 27 and play mostly during the day (11am-4pm PST range). Right now I am really just exploring and questing, but down the road I might be up for dungeons or whatever else the game has to offer. So far my highest character is a level 16 norn mesmer named Arden Kynaston. Really just looking for some friendly folk to play with!
