So how long do we get to have access to the magumma map. Because who knows if this will be permanent. Nothing good has been permanent.
If you were slightly updated, you’d known that ArenaNet said that Living Story S2 will consist of Permanent content.
It even says “permanent” in the trailer kitten …..
Well alright then, I shall do just that good sir.

Oh, I like you guys, organized and varied, exactly what I am looking for!

Hi there, just for starters, be aware, I am a GW2 noob, like, just bought the game a week ago kinda noob.
Still here?
Good.
Im an all around friendly guy, been playing RPG/MMO/Hack and Slash games for decades, I learn quick.
Looking for a nice guild with all kinds of peeps doing all kinds of things, I dont mind “taking time and savoring” an instance, or running hyper efficient gold runs, I am not scared of PvP/WvW (but I will fail the first few times through, gotta get my feet wet).
Anyhoo, im about to pop lvl 30, if you have a nice community of guildies looking for another friendly dude, drop me a line.
you just joined at the wrong time. you are going to have a horrible time lvling your new character with stagnant progressions and skills/utilities locked away behind events you literally cant do because of your level and making cash has just been made harder
if you joined 5 months ago you could have bought 1k gems crafted to lvl 65 in a day then had fun to lvl 80 with all your unlocked skills and abilities.
If you’ve never played the game before, unlocking the Traits just might be an enjoyable challenge…. If you look at it as a chore then it’s going to be one. All your other complaints are from the view of a speed rush leveler…..I hope a new player does not approach the game with this attitude.
Correct me if I am wrong here, but isnt that how Traits were unlocked in GW1? (To be fair, it has been AGES since I played GW1)
Yes, doing quests was the way to unlock skills in GW1. It was recently added to GW2 with the change in the way trait points where awarded. You also have the option of buying them with gold too. However, if you are doing map completion on each zone, and taking your time and enjoying the game, you’ll unlock those traits no problem. I’ve unlocked a few on my alt, and didn’t even realize it.
Ah, I see.
Well, I am trying to complete all my zones for the rewards, so, I guess that will kind of fall into place organically.

Great advice Equinox! And I am all about experimentation and trying stuff out myself, I usually “work within the system” in games to find a balance between the meta game and my own personal flair.
And hey!
Another complete “noob” question here:
So, season 1 “living story”….. Do I still have full access to this content until Season 2 drops? I have been having trouble figuring this one out.
Currently you do not have access to ANY season 1 events, with the exception of the current events going on now. (The queens pavillion and the Bazaar). However Anet has expressed that they would like to be able to add season 1 to the new journal system to be replayed, but it won’t be available at launch of season 2, and may not even be implemented due to technical and mechanical issues and the way that the season worked.
Season 1 content was all temporary. If you were not there for that episode, you missed it forever. Thus the change with season 2 and the Journal.
Thats what I feared, that is unfortunate, I hope that the Season 1 content makes its way to becoming available to late adopters such as myself at some point
.
You weren’t really missing much. You can read the story if thats really what you are after, but as far as the events, most were awful zerg fests. Although I did like the story, the villian was lacking at best, and most of the events I did, I only did them to figure out the story line and then left, because I didn’t find them fun. Many people agree that the whole season 1 was badly designed and horribly flawed.
I suppose so, I just feel like I missed out on some pretty signifigant events pertaining to the story and overall lore of the world, I am a nerd, and enjoy experiencing these things first hand.
Ah well, I should be leveled up by the time Season 2 hits anyways, looking forward to the new goodies then!
Sounds a bit too usual, but the Soran part does not fit a necro in my opinion. 4/10
Zoe Clawstorm.
Just out of curiosity, what class?
I like primary names followed by a “descriptor” surname, dunno why, but I do. :p (8/10)
Bjorn Bloodstrike.

A cool feature in GW2 that not many use is that you can keep a weapon from a set and only change the main or off-hand weapon.
Example: You equip 1 sword in the main hand in the set 1, a sword in the off hand set 1 and a warhorn in the off hand set 2 and keep the main hand set 2 empty. When you change from set 1 to set 2 only the off hand will change, the main hand will keep the sword from set 1, that way you’ll have a sword 100% of the time and the versatility of the off hand weapons.
Neat!
I did not know that.
Good stuff, thanks for the input guys!
Off to peruse the Norn and Warrior forums.
Awesome, thank you.
I have a tendancy to try EVERYTHING to see what I like, what works, etc, experimentation and what not.
I also generally like to focus tightly on very specific things (AKA single weapon over dual spec).
1 Is there anything that I can do to irrevocably “kitten ” my character? If so, please explain.
2 Are single weapon focused builds at all viable? Or is bouncing between 2 seperate weapons the only option?
Thank you for your time.
As a completely new player to GW2, this guide has been very informative, and easy to read/understand, great job.
