oh wow. I sure missed that. I read the wiki and ingame stuff. Seems a wee bit hard to figure out. So much appreciation for your help.

I read the wiki about stacking runes, but I’m confused.

If I craft two runes – for example, two Major Rune of the Undead – how do I apply/stack those to armor?

I apply the 1st rune to my helm, for example. When I try to apply the 2nd rune (of like type and kind) I get a message:
“if you apply this rune it will destroy the previous rune”

I remember trying this earlier and losing the first rune.

ALSO – I noticed sometimes runes automatically stack – even when I didn’t buy or craft them. I can’t find anything in wiki that explains how/where/why certain runes appear.

I assume the “automatic” runes apply when I’m fighting a particular kind of foe. For example, I noticed I have four Minor Rune of Hoelbrak on one piece of armor.

I DO understand that stacking beyond a certain point doesn’t add more effect.

I too want to add my appreciation. I would never made it to 35 Elemental without this guide.

Still not sure what the flying around invisible is all about. LOL. Don’t think my other characters do that.

I’ve read dozens of posts in this forum and I’m throughly confused. Most posts talk about preferred style of play.

I like Range and Solo play in PvE. Like dungeons and fighting dragons.

Have never done WvW. Will probably never do PvP.

(I’ve already leveled a Ranger to 80. Ranger survives beautifully solo in Orr.)

Playing a Lvl 35 Elementalist using d/d almost 100% of time.

Love Fire 4 Ring of Fire and 5 Fire Grab, and Earth 4 Earthquake and 5 Churning Earth.

I’m not good at targeting so non-targeted AOE works great.

I need a ranged alternative for special situations.

I really have trouble with Fire – Burning Leap and Earth – Magnetic pull. Really dislike these. I get lost, or drop off cliffs or stairs.

Would like advice from experienced Elementalist on:
1. Using Specter/Dagger alternative. (I don’t think Staff is recommend. ?)
2. Balanced trait line – so I can solo but also play dungeons.
3. Any special runes, sigils or gear I need?

Anyone have a build that will adapt to my style of play.

This is a complicated question, so I really appreciate anyone taking time to answer.

Right before my Elementalist has to fight to survive —- she seem to fly around invisible.

Doesn’t seem like her 4 fight to survie skills are as powerful as others. True?

Is there a thread that describes how fight to survive works for Elementalist.

I can’t find it.

I just read in another post that there is an invisible optoin in the contacts menu.

Sometimes I just want to play a relaxing game, privately, exploring the world.

I have many friends and it is uncomfortable to ignore them.

Is there a way to play with party invites blocked?

Something like “player isn’t available for parties right now, but please check back later”

Dont’ get me wrong – I love groups. But sometimes it is just too stressfull in a group.

I love playing in groups, but some times I want to play a relaxed exploring game by myself.

Is there a setting to stop party invites?

Maybe a setting with a message like “this player wants to play privately for awhile, but please check back later”

For me, playing in a group is more stressful.

I’ve had to miss so much of storylines because others don’t want to wait through the videos. Or they already know where to go and I miss out on exploring.

DON’T GET ME WRONG … somethings I love groups and could not do with out them.

smariereuter-6079 – I hope you are correct. I’ll try to find and kill 10 vets. I hope I’ll get a chest even though my daily counter is incorrect.

Kind of confusing though because my clock is correct, my daily shows two vets completed … and every other daily is working.

And they all worked yesterday.

Again – any ideas on where Vets spawn?

Oh also – any good ideas on where Vets spawn regularly? I tried frozen maw … but I think there are better areas. Know of any?

Guess I need to either:
1. Fire-up my Alienware m18X Windows laptop (with mouse). Ugh. Alienware runs GW2 like an oven. Graphics not as good as Retina Display.
or
2. Find a gaming appropriate Apple mouse.

Touchpad not cutting it.

BTW – I got absolutely wonderful help from 99% of fellow players in dungeons. GW2 is a great community.

Bottom line:
1. Get a mouse
2. Learn intricacies of game

Hotkeys – Feel pretty confident about hotkeys. But I hate to strafe using WSAD. My forward/backward/left/right are bound to up/down/left/right arrows. May need to re-think this. Turning around is a nightmare. Binding turn-around key doesn’t help in a tight, confusing dungeon battle.

Admit I need to study traits/skill/utilities/dungeons.

Jay – So surprised Hounds are awful. Glad you told me. Here I thought I was being a big help. They saved me often in PvE. Agree they take forever to recharge.

P.S.
Sorry my question was not specific enough. Basically, I read in other forums that Necromancer or Elementalists are most requested profession to join Warriors and Guardians in dungeons. I spent a couple hours testing various Race/Profession combinations without a clear winner.

With your advice I now realize it isn’t about Race/Profession – rather about good analysis of tools, character, dungeons, etc.

Think I’m addicted. Playing till 4 – 5 am several days in a row. Best stop playing, take a nap and study up more.

Leveled Human Ranger to 80. Seems I’m not much help in dungeons.

Even got kicked after hour+ in AC – explore #1. I got lost in the tunnels at the end. Could NOT keep up with team members running back from waypoint and got lost a few times. So they kicked me. Geez. I helps lots in the beginning with Hounds of Baltz and healing.

DO SOME CHARACTERS MOVE SLOWER THAN OTHERS?

Thought I’d try a diff character like Necromancer, Mesmer, Thief or Elementalist.

Started a Nord Necromancer yesterday – got killed constantly on way to lvl 7. Felt like walking in mud. Sigh.

Prefer Human or Nord.

BTW – Started a Warrior Charr and Guardian Norn – WOW – rarely get killed in PvE compared to Warrior, Guardian.

how to kill Pistrix – Easy.

-Go to blue arrow area.
-Go down stairs.
-Turn around and face stairs. <—- Key
-Drop just below water line.
-Attack rock with ranged weapon.
-It will say obstructed at first.
-Suddenly pistrix appears half out of the rock.
-Keep mashing and kill him.

I tried to make a video … my first. Lo and behold – someone killed Pistrix from ABOVE the rock.

I’ll post it on YouTube if I can get my Mac include the sound.
