Good day everybody. In today’s class, we’re going to do some basic maths!
Bear with me.
So, I currently have 23 003 AP and decided to count how many points I could still earn.
In pvp, provided I’d do 10 000 victories and all other achievements, 810 points remain.
In pve, EOTM included, giant slayer (ahem.) and the infuriating 250 victories in Crab Toss, 537 points remain.
2704 points with monthly rewards (that’s 27 months, still!) to reach 5 000.
And 753 points for dailies to reach 10 000.
For a whooping total of 4804 remaining points, WvW not included (809 points through millions of captures/ dolyaks and other stuff that I do not enjoy and therefore will not do.)
I can, therefore and with an approximation of 2 years of game time, “finish” Guild wars and reach… 27 807 points.
Let’s imagine the living story and other various achievements keep coming at the rate they do and provide the same approximative 5 000 points they already did within these two years.
We BARELY reach the 33 000 AP required to unlock the FIRST achievement breastplate, and this would take about the same amount of time most achievement hunters already spent on the game if not more: 5 000 hours (on top of the 5 000 and over already spent)
So, I have a question: good lord, why?
And also: can we hope for better rewards in our achievement chests above 25 000 points? I mean… 2 gold, a reparation cannister worth nothing, 1 laurel, 9 000 karma, two blueprints and a crafting/ XP booster for about two months of """"work""""… it really isn’t much for so much time invested.
TL;DR: you will never get those hellfire/ radiant breastplate.
Also, don’t get me confused, I enjoy doing these achievements, I wouldn’t do it otherwise, and I love the game, it’s just that;.. yeah… no reward.
I’ve always liked mini games in Guild Wars. Several times top 100 in Rollerbeetle, loved dragon arena, snowball fights, costume brawl etc…
Comes Guild Wars 2 with the new costume brawl, the jumping puzzles, the bell mini game… all of these are awesome, really fun.
And then there’s the keg brawl. It has potentials, basically a game on ice with norns and drunkard fighting for a drink… Well… it’s rugby. How cool is that?!
However, there are two real problems: no way to fight with a party of your own against others, just like in sPvP where you can join random games AND team up for tournaments.
And the other: lobbing. I mean… really? In my opinion, it’s a glitch. Was it an intention from the developpers to be able to score from the other side of the map, thus destroying all teamplay, the necessity for pass between players… ?
The matches end up being: pick up the keg. Dodge. Lob. Score. Done. Ruins all the fun, and there’s nothing you can do against it.
A good fix would be to limit the range of the skill. Easy.
And to those saying “Duh, it’s in the game, use it, u be 2 stoopid”, no, thanks. Abusing glitched skills is not my cup of tea. Scoring should result of a good usage of your brain, skills and teamwork, not zoom your camera, point it up and throw.
