It’s a little disheartening to see a developer come out to say that skipping encounters in a dungeon is not an exploit. Avoiding Kholer means intentionally jumping to the side from the staircase and skirting his platform – he will aggro if you simply walk up the stairs. To me that spells out that he is INTENDED to be fought, not to be optional.
How To: Dungeon Win! –
1. Do NOT go in with a glass cannon spec and/or gear. Make sure you have some survivability. Get some Knight Armor, masterwork will run you 10-20s for a full set and has Power/Pre/Toughness, and pop some Soldier runes in for added toughness/vitality/power. If you are going in with Berserker Armor and a spec with no defensive utilities/traits then expect to die, over and over and over and over and over again and DO NOT come to the forums complaining about how hard the dungeon is!
Too late for that. All the bads with their full beserker CoF armor have had their easy farming run crushed, and now can’t clear any content because they refuse to learn to play or gear sensibly. Clearly every other dungeon in the game must be impossible.
Yeah, the tokens say account bound in the description but still seem to be soulbound (at least for tokens that existed before the update today). I have two characters and neither can withdraw the other’s dungeon tokens from the bank, nor can I stack the tokens from different characters together.
Just went into Sorrow’s Embrace explorable with a guild group. It was everyone’s first time there. Completed the first path, received 19 silver and 130k xp. Went out, took a 5 minute break, went back in and took on the second path. It took us ~1hr15 minutes, and at the end rewarded a wopping 6.5 silver.
Whatever this anti-farming detection is, it’s not working as intended. Two different “chains” in the same dungeon are currently subject to diminishing completion rewards regardless of completion time.
tl;dr: over 1 hour, different path, still getting reduced rewards
Had the same problem as the OP with the Dwayna priest. Felt like most of the reason she just wouldn’t die is down to the behaviour of the sparks and the graphical glitches preventing you from seeing which circles still require a spark to fill them. Or because she decides to petrify someone right at the start of a spark phase. You need consistently perfect spark phases, and they rarely occur back to back because it’s up to the sparks to decide whether or not they want to co-operate in time.
The Risen (Corrupted?) Priest of Dwayna in Arah on the Seer route is pretty buggy as well. When bringing sparks to the tree in the middle, the circles frequently glitched out graphically so it was impossible to see which circles had already been activated by a spark (leading to lots of wasted time). Also it may have just been the group, but she always seemed to go invisible at the same health percentage to start healing (rather than after a set period of time). Regardless, we couldn’t kill her. This doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem, but the fight was incredibly frustrating because of the graphical bugs and I can’t help but feel this was the primary reason for our failure.
Guess that’s the only way, CC lock one while the rest reset… oh well, meh.
This is pretty much what you have to do on that pull, unfortunately. Hopefully ArenaNet will take a look at that group of enemies because the hammer knights are pretty ridiculous.
