I can’t be the only person who would like a real griffon plush. Please, Toymaker Tixx… I’ve been good this year, I promise
Actually one of my first thought yesterday was: I want to make one. I’m fairly decent with the sewing machine, but I’m not very good at pattern making. Anyone here that would like to help me? ^^
Yes, I noticed that as well. I had a lot of crash issues before I got some brandnew memory so I know it’s nothing on my end because now I’ve been playing crashless for about a month. I’ve been freezing up and crashing like crazy in the last hour. Very reminiscent of the time my memory was faulty.
Awesome thing you’re doing here. And the art looks really great.
Here’s my Jaelle Thatcher, assassin and free time thief. Today is actually the first time in the almost 2 months I’ve worn that armour that I’ve seen it on another character ingame (curiously almost the same colouring as well ^^). So to celebrate this I would love it if you chose to make a nice sketch out of her. It’s almost sad, really. I think it’s an awesome looking armour, but so many thiefs go for the named exotic instead of this one. ^^
As someone who has read Ghosts of Ascalon in one night without putting it down and still has to finish up Edge of Destiny I guess I can give some opinion.
Although Edge of Destiny is from the characters perhaps more obviously connected with GW2, Ghosts of Ascalon is in fact playing chronologically after EoD. Without wanting to spoiler anything, it basically involves a quest of a group of adventurers to get an item instrumental for the peace talks between humans and charr. While the setup is rather simple, maybe even cliché and the final twist was in my opinion somewhat obvious, the writing is great and gets you really invested in the characters. Which, by the way, you can find ingame, if you know where to look. For example you can find our hero, Dougal Keane, in Lion’s Arch, standing by the dungeon gear vendors. Another interesting spot might be the northwest of the Fields of Ruin. While their role in the lore may not be as publicly known to the folk of Tyria as Destiny’s Edge’s, I definitly liked it more.
Speaking of Edge of Destiny. We know the characters, we know the rough story, if we listened to the personal story encounters and the dungeon stories. What bothered me about the book is the writing. The story itself is interesting, in itself maybe even more so than that of GoA. I liked the dynamic between Rytlock and Logan, Rytlock himself made me think much more highly of charr than I did before. He’s just so cool. ^^ However, I feel the story gets dragged out too much by the many fight scenes. They might be a bit too detailed and through that too drawn out for my taste. I like how the action scenes in GoA were written, they kept a nice pace. The whole pacing of the book is kind of off to me, which is probably why I haven’t finished the last third yet. I just don’t get as emotionally involved in it as I did with Ghosts of Ascalon. (Which, at one point, made me even cry. ^^)
That’s just my opinion though. Sorry for the rant. :P If you’re a fan, then both books are worth the read, even if just to expand your knowledge of the lore. I’m definitely looking forward to the third one, though. I mean, written by Ree Soesbee herself, this can only be amazing. ^^
This one is always helpful for looking at stats from different items: http://www.gw2db.com/
When looking at armor stats the most important thing is to keep track of the prefix. It tells you what focus the stats will have. I.e. Berserker means a primary focus on power, secondary on precision and crit dmg.
You can find a nice overview of the different prefixes here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Insignia
And while I’m at it, if you want to find some nice skins for your stats, just go here:

^^
Nice idea. Here’s some small things that bother me a bit.
- opening a bank tab to deposit/withdraw money doesn’t let you see how much money you have, right now you need to open your inventory to check
- certain insignias and inscriptions have such long names you can’t really discern they name/purpose by looking at them in the crafting tab. I always have to go through them one by one to know which is which. A possibility to expand the crafting window would be nice.
- Charrs in your character screen are way too big compared how other races are displayed. Some headgear is only half visible.
- No TP filter for armor type (heavy, light, medium) – you have to scan through dozens of other armor types to find something for yourself.
- The “only show available” filter on the TP doesn’t seem to work right now, I still get unavailable items in my lists.
- No collectible tabs for newly added ingredients (Karka shells etc.)
- No way to track the last time a guild member was online/ representing. Makes guild maintenance very difficult. Maybe just a function available for guild leaders/ high ranking officers.
Sorry mate, I might be a bit edgy right now. I’m actually really enjoying Halloween and though some things (like bugs, bugs and cameras) could be better, I’m getting annoyed when I come to the forum and half the threads are about people complaining and then some more feeling entitled.
But seriously: you should have seen me and my guild mates in our first week trying the Dark Reverie Jumping Puzzle in Caledon. We actually went at it over the span of a week and “I will survive” became our inofficial guild song. Either you died from freaking brambles on the way up or that one jump on those higher up mushrooms got the better of you. So no, I don’t feel very frustrated with this one. It pricked a bit when two friends got to the top before me, but oh well. Now I’m fired up. ^^
I second that. I’m not often on the forums so when I just tried to quote someone I felt like a total noob for not finding the buttons.
Irony was that right after I posted a reply, the buttons appeared. After I edited my post to include a quote, they magically disappeared again. Very elusive, those buttons.
Good God, man, this is my approach to learning ninjitsu or an instrument – something that has applicability to daily life – not getting up some dodgy stairs in a computer game. ;-)
Good God, man, I had a week of work and spent most of the weekend, including today, clearing about a ton of wood from a cut down tree in our front yard. I’m sore as hell so forgive me for feeling accomplished about a few hours playing a relaxing and fun bit of video game. Cheesus, where do people get the idea that if you’re feeling a bit accomplished with something in a video game that your view of reality is warped?
Edit: Why does the Quote button only appear after I’ve posted a reply? O.o

<points to the “In my view clock tower is not fun” thread>
There’s no need to clutter the forum, is there?
It’s difficult and challenging and once you’re used to the points where the camera spazzes out, you’re good to go.
I spent 2 hours at it today and I noticed considerable progress in how far I get. It’s fun and though can be a little frustrating sometimes, there have been other Jumping Puzzles I have also been mad at for not working it out easily. Haven’t finished it yet, but there are still several days left to the 31st, so don’t panic.
An hour ago I might have fully supported this. Back then I was at my third try of playing today and my quota was 5 crashes in 10 minutes (which includes long loading times to LA). After the 11ths, which was a nice bsod I was ready to throw something against the wall. Now I have calmed down somewhat. It’s only a game after all.
But seriously. I actually had become used to 1-4 crashes/freezes that demand crtl alt del a day ( in several hours of playing), but after the update today it has become way unplayable. Then again, in what kind of game does one have to get used to the game freezing up?
I have the same problem, being stuck at 79/82.
This is actually something that’s been there for at least half a month and I actually have seen another thread for this a week ago or so. It seems it got drowned in the sheer mass of bugs and since it’s a rather small issue Anet put it probably in the back seat for now.
I’ll link the thread I made back when I first noticed it. There’s a picture attached showing pretty much the discrepancy between hints and achievement.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Two-small-bugs-Hints-achievement-is-frozen-bugged-gem-store-clothes/first#post165823
I add my voice to that. I took a copper once but that did not increase the spam mail at all. Still get like one or two a week, like before. So no worries there.
I’ll add this one to the mix: Female Sylvari Guardian, currently lvl 44, but I aquired and first wore the Tier 1 Heavy Cultural Armour (Arborist Set) the first time at lvl 35 and the problem was present from the start. I have the “wooden” type of skin by default, as can be seen by the belly part of the top, but the pants show what I believe is the “plant” skin. Either way there is a very clear cut between the skin under the top and under the pants.
And I’m not sure if this applies to another problem I had but I’ll link the thread here anyways. My concern is the second part of the post – my pirate pants.
I’ll just add myself to the list here. Got stuck at 79/82 although I found all my hints.
Actually, Kumu Honua said it right. I’ll try and illuminate the matter a bit more: The materials Platinum, Gold and Shimmering Dust don’t appear, because these raw materials are not part of any undiscovered recipes. All gold ore is used for is refining them into bars and all recipes made with bars are given to you by the game automatically. Same goes for Dust, they are used to refine materials and those recipes don’t need to be discovered.
That means you wouldn’t need them in discovery mode anyways. The game recognizes this and removes them to avoid overcluttering the tab.

My guess is that it started with the most recent update, since I’ve been stuck at 79/82 hints for some time. But my compulsive completionist side got through today and I quickly triggered the missing ones, “Trebuchet” (PvP), “Warrior Adrenaline” and “Necromancer Life force” (Skills & Traits). It triggered all correctly in the hints window, but the achievement bar stayed at 79/82. No achievement alert triggered, nothing. It’s only 10 points, but it’s still unsatisfying for that perfectionist side of me.

On a more disconcerting matter, a bug with bought town clothing. I wrote a ticket right when it actually happened but there was never any response or so. I kind of pushed it in the back of my mind and tried to avoid it, but now that I’m reporting something anyways, I’ll get on with it.
Around the headstart I went and bought myself the pirate set. I went and first took off all the clothing on my character and then put the new clothing pieces on. Except with the skirt/pants. I got overeager and just pulled the Pirate pants over the town skirt like one does when quickly changing gear. No skirt appeared in my inventory. Instead, the pants seemed to have become soul bound, as opposed to account bound like the rest of the gem set. They didn’t change colour upon dying as well. After a few undressing acts I figured out that apparently the pants kind of fused with the skirt. The symbol and the name is clearly pants, but worn solo it’s the skirt. The Pirate pants only appear when the character wears the pirate top. Yes, there is no need to have something in the pants slot at all and the pirate pants still appear with the top. It’s minor, but disconcerting considering I payed gems/money for this and I was planning to use the whole outfit with many colours and with more than one character. -.-
Is there a way to just reset the two clothing sets or something?

Me and my guildies actually tried this over several days, constantly dying. I think I worked hard towards my combat healer title during that time.
Fact is, you have to think outside the box, jump on the mushroom stem instead of the cap and it’s so easy we all fell over laughing when I figured it out. And it gave us a nice fuzzy warm feeling of having accomplished something. And that’s where the name “Achievement” fits perfectly.
You don’t have to let the game frustrate you. Go at it with some nice self-deprecating humour and you have a blast. At some point we even put on “I will survive” over skype. Only thing that bugged me a bit were the bramble thingies and the high amount of veteran enemies. This puzzle in a starter area lets a lot of lower lvl people think they could manage it, but they die like flies because of the mobs.
