Are the best answers I could find to the OP’s question.
Summed up one way, they removed “dedicated healers” since content requiring such a class causes a dependency of that class.
While I enjoyed playing healers in other games, in the end I felt like my healing class existed simply to enable other people to play the game. Therefore, making everyone share in the responsibility of survival makes sense to me and I think it’s a good move by ANet.

Conclusion:
We as a community have become too sensitive and emotional to the changes the developers make to the Mesmer profession because of the emotional investment in the builds people create. Listen I understand there are some changes that are downright uncomfortable and jarring but I’ve learned to adapt and surprise players that thought they have seen it all from the Mesmer profession. We have to acknowledge that Mesmer has it strengths and weakness against other professions and make that an acceptable part of conversations instead of crying for buffs accepting changes only as nerfs. This does not mean we can’t critique the Mesmer but our voice needs to be unified as a community as to what changes need to be made for the advancement of our profession. We need to be educated about our profession by standardizing our roles and how we are used in game. I honestly believe once this happens the Mesmer forums and community will be on a new level of skill that other professions can only imagine and will continue to cry about.
If you have made it this far thank you. It took about a month to write and I was not comfortable posting this… only because I had to get it off my chest primarily(Craziness lol) and appreciation of this profession and what we as a community bring to GW2.

Anet wants to do e-sport? GvG YES, svpv no !
Here is a petition to support GvG :
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/official-gvg-setup-in-gw2/
If you support this idea, thumb up this post to show devs that there is a lot of people who want this game format.
I propose to post all your suggestions here concerning GvG’s future organisation. I’ll try to update the post as much as possible.
This is how I see it :
1.THE MAP
A special GvG map where GM and/or officer can register their guild.
This could be like a gladiator arena with few hills to simulate plain fights.
2.THE FIGHTS
The guild picks a leader. He picks 20/25 people plus replacements among guild’s members (recruited since at least one week to avoid abusive behavior).
PLAYERS WILL USE THEIR OWN GEAR.
There will be between 5 and 7 rounds(Bo5 or Bo7) in a death-match mode.
To win guilds will have to eliminate all fighters. Those who will die will be teleport in a"starting area" to avoid abusive rez.
A feature /resign will allow leader to forfeit a round.
There will be no armor penalty.
3.PREPARATION FOR COMBAT
Guilds will have 4 minutes to prepare themselves in the starting area.
A merchant will provide free “GvG food” which is actually normal food but it will last during the whole GvG.
Moreover teams could obtain 25 stacks per player (thing to discuss).
There will be 1 minute between each round and a chat between leaders if they need to communicate to start rounds faster.
Skill’s cool down will be reset each round.
4.THE INTERFACE
Everyone in the team will see every health bar of his own team.
If a player is down, a visible announcement will appear for his own team. Example:“TataYoyo’s down !”.
As well, If a player dies : “TataYoyo’s dead!”.
The score will be displayed for both guild in the middle top of the sreen.
Each leader will be well visible by his own team which means change his size and his color for example. The other team will not be able to see it.
A color will be assigned to each team to a better visibility.
5.MATCHMAKING AND LADDER
For the 10/15 first matches, guilds will fight randomly with Bo5 format. Then an ELO will be given to each guild.
This ELO will allow guilds with same level to fight with Bo7 format.
This will draw up an official ranking list.
Moreover a non ranked mode will be set up for training only.
6.SPECTATORS
No E-sport without spectators ! Every single match will be listed via a dedicated NPC in Lion’s Arch.
Everybody will be able to watch those matches within minutes.
Moreover Guilds will be able to see those matches later in a “GvG” tab in guild menu.
To finish, best matches should be broadcast on the official GW2 website.
CONCLUSION
Tanks for reading all of it This is how i see things so tell me what you think about it !
Let’s make GvG a reality in this game together !!
I actually signed into my forum account, and I never do, because I KNEW there would be a forum thread about this. GvGs aren’t the point. The point is that Anet, you are getting increasingly detached from your most loyal playerbase day by day. The proof was in that stream. I could not BELIEVE how you guys just ignored the people crying out for a GvG mode. You act like they don’t exist and even act like they detracted from the stream somehow….that stream was crap, to be honest, (some Q&A…..seriously) and it’s incredibly insulting to the hardcore guilds that make up the core of WvW the way you simply ignore us, in a stream for the very gamemode most of us play exclusively. I can’t believe how blind you guys are to this cash cow right under your noses. You try to push sPvP like the plague as an esport where a set GvG mode really has the potential to blow up. How can you not see this? There are so many people involved in this GvG scene with absolutely zero support from you lot. Imagine if you showed the slightest bit of support. You keep catering to the lazy PVE crowd, the group of players will be gone to another game the second a new shiny one is out. I don’t think you realize, Anet, how GOOD the pvp in this game really is. There is a reason we started playing this game and still are, the few of us PvP people who are left. Most games don’t have pvp that is as good, as interesting, or as diverse as this game’s, less are MMOs. Even lesser still are still available to play. The siege buffs, especially ACs are completely ruining this aspect of the game. Do you seriously think that all the people trying to get you to stop are all trolls? Believe it or not, whatever sample of the playerbase you have in your testing IS NOT helping WvW. I am trying to tell you. They are not representative of the people who play WvW. That much is obvious. The PvP people play this game to actually play the game and fight other groups of players. All people do anymore is sit in towers with siege, this is NOT the game that we love so much. That is spamming 3 buttons and having them be effective because they hit more targets than anything else, and do more damage than most player groups. How is that rewarding? How does that encourage actually playing the kitten classes in this game? I am telling you this, because when both groups of people move from this game, the PvErs because of a new carrot and the PvP crowd because of horrible support from you guys, you will be left with no one. The PvP crowd will leave in whole guilds and it will be sudden. You will either fix this now or this game is doomed to fail. I sincerely hope you change before you remember this crossroads when it is far too late.
Nailed it.
