NVidia Surround - Distorted Character Models

Thanks for the response and the references. I think I get it and could probably live with the character models being stretched a little. However, I think the thing that throws me the most is the “distance change” to those models. For instance, the two screen shots below are the exact same distance to the Husk…I never moved. I just rotated my camera to look a different way and suddenly the Husk appears a great deal closer than he really is. If that is the way of things with multi-monitors, then I guess it’s just something to get used to. It’s just really disorienting when you see something in your peripheral and swing to attack, but your target is way out of range. During a battle when you are moving around, things are swinging in and out of distances at crazy intervals.

Thanks again for the links and the explanation… If there is anything else that can be “adjusted” with my settings that would lessen that effect, I’d love some ideas.

See you around Tyria!

A photo of what I see in GW2 showing the odd things displayed on the side monitor. As you can see, the actual view from the monitor is worse than the screen shot (the actual screen shot cleans the distortion up a bit).

Thanks again for looking!

Greetings!

For my birthday, my wife graciously purchased me two additional 23" monitors that exactly match the one I had for some oh-so-fun triple monitor Guild Wars gaming experience. I have two Nvidia GTX580 cards using SLI and everything seemed to come together perfectly. However, once in GW2, the two side monitors seem to distort the images (especially the character models) as shown in the attached screen shot. Playing the original Guild Wars, the character models are left unchanged and look perfect (second attachment). Any tips on what I may be able to “fix” to get GW2 to look like GW?

Thank you!

I found another post with similar symptoms. The other player quit the episode via the Story Journal and restarted it. When they re-entered the instance, everything worked. It worked for me as well… Good Luck!

I’m in the same situation. Completed the story instance, went back through to work on the achievements and when it comes time to talk to Ogden, a window blinks and then he gives you the conversations that he uses after you return during your first run in the story. Is this a bug to report?

One of my disappointments is the fact that players can complete a Heart “on accident” by just killing roaming mobs that are attacking, or clicking on inactive objects before even knowing that they are in an event area. With the fact that once the Heart is completed, you can’t see what the original NPC text was, I think players miss out on some fun regional lore. Making them repeatable in some way would help with that issue. Or, at least, make Heart quests not progress until you talk with the NPC responsible for them?

Also, once you complete a zone, the Scouts won’t give you a “tour” of the area. If it’s been awhile since you have completed a zone, players may want a reminder of some of the areas events take place. I think the Scouts should always be able to replay their map tour dialog whenever requested.

Scouts should still talk to you...

As I’m passing through a zone that I haven’t been in for quite awhile, I look around and wonder if I’ve missed something. Ahhh…there’s a scout, I’ll see what he has to say. Well…although a friendly enough guy, he’s not much help at this point. I apparently have been very helpful here.

I know this is a pretty minor request on the grand scale of things, and more of a QoL change, but I think that the scouts that are on the map should have the option in their dialog to “repeat” their introduction to the zone and all of the things going on.

If you complete the hearts, or maybe it’s the map, then they congratulate or thank you and that’s it. Since it is really easy to complete a heart quest without really even trying (kill a few mobs on your way from point A to point B, and poof there’s a email waiting with some coin), it would be nice to hear a rundown of the areas of the map in case you didn’t get a chance to watch it, or would like a reminder.

Maybe a second choice in the dialog window that says, “So tell me about this area again…”

I suppose I could roll another character and come back, but I really just wanted to hear a little about the lore and happenings in the current zone.

Bonus Objective in Scarlet's Playhouse?

I can’t remember, but it may have specifically mentioned the Centaur “Spike” Arena in the description. Also, it was in yellow text instead of the normal orange. I can’t seem to locate any mention of it anywhere (or my search skills are sadly lacking).

Yesterday, while running Scarlet’s Playhouse, I noticed a “Bonus Objective” pop up as I entered the Centaur area. It stated —Bonus Objective: Make it through this area without battling patrols.--(or something to that effect). Unfortunately, I aggroed a couple of roaming mobs, so it vanished from the list in the tasks area. I’ve gone back and completed the Playhouse a number of times since, but haven’t seen that pop up again.

Does anybody know if that is a one-time only, a random occurence, or ????

Has anybody completed it and is there a reward associated with it?

Just curious…

Lore for Points Of Interest?

Thanks for the replies!

I probably need to pay a lot more attention to the NPCs… especially the heart quest versions. Most of the time I tend to finish the heart quests “by accident” by simply killing mobs while moving through the area and should maybe make it a point to seek them out first.

My original comment about the amount of work to add lore to the PoI locations wasn’t taking into consideration the number of actual points, but rather the programming work for a tip-style pop up when you hover (similar to hovering over a skill). However, you are correct in that entering 722 individual descriptions (and more being added – Dead End for instance) would be quite an undertaking. I hereby volunteer my data entry skills for the cause!

Thanks again for the tip of talking to NPCs.

Take care all!

Lore for Points Of Interest?

My apologies if this has been answered before, but searching this section of the forum for “POI” or “Point of Interest” came up blank.

Does anybody know if there are plans to add lore text to Points of Interest on the map? We have all of these little points that we discover and are individually named, but I haven’t seen where it tells the player what the significance of the location is. It seems like it wouldn’t be that crazy of a feature addition (with regards to the work required to add them) and would greatly add to the history and lore of the game. I suppose the PoI names could just be “made up”, but with the detail I’ve heard some of the story designers go into, I would have to believe there are specific events behind each one.

Any info out there?

Thanks and see you around Tyria!
