Sounds really good, but i have a question. When we upgrade our wvw/pvp ascended gear, will they be ’ legendary ’ gear and have purple name like other legendaries in the game, or will they stay as ascended but have stat change ability ?
They will be legendary gear and have a purple name like other legendaries.
I hope that it will cost and take as much as it took those who had to work for their legendary armor …gifts…. provisioner tokens … 1500 of each map currency…. the raid legendary armor was not easy to get… and if all you need is skirmish tickets for a legendary set…this will kill your special raid wings because ppl can just wvw or pvp….
Question: Does it work even if you don’t go into the instance? I mean you log in, and you’ve previously set it to blood items, does it indefinitely mail you stuff every day of the type you asked for (assuming you log in each day) or do you have to go into the home instance to trigger it each day?
Yes it is mailed to you as soon as you log in OR at reset. You will receive an in game mail with an item you will double click to get your items.
The only time you will need to enter the home instance for this board is to change your material request.
The amount of mats you get is REALLY low.
I bought one and I am disappointed by the fact you can’t share it with your guests and insulted by amount of mats it provides, given its gemstore price.
Change the way this item works ANET! Let us select the daily item it provides, and have it picked up at the sign post in the instance, instead of getting it mailed. Let guests access it too!
If the option were available for others to use then I would be happy with this.
That change would make me happy with it as well. I understand why it shouldn’t be, with the mats being directly mailed to you, but it should be a collection made inside the home node. This whole idea of getting it mailed to you without setting foot in the home instance is a silly concept.
It needs to be changed. And while we are at it, make that collections treasure chest usable by guests too. The loot is pretty weak, nobody is going to get rich off of sharing access to it.
Agreed!!
I can sort of understand why since it’s delivering fine mats Vs basic. And the one node/ multiple types makes since because otherwise it overflows the home instance with pens of animals to bash for claws and teeth.
The “kinds” of materials delivered is random. Also a t5 – t6 mat is random and it is just 1.

The first time I used it i got 1 t6 mat and 2 t2 mats…. the second one i got was 1 t5 mat and 2 t2 mats…
I do not expect to “get rich” off of this gem store item but 1. I would like to be able to share it. 2. I would like for it to be a bit more satisfying.
Right now I would really like my 1200 gems back this purchase was not worth my gems.
Excited about the new item for my home instance. Disappointed as to how it works. You select a material of choice and leave the instance and its mailed to you… why not just make it like the “Karmic Converter” where it’s in your inventory and you choose the material you want? Why is this a home instance thing if it is mailed to you? I love to bring my closest friends in game to my home instance because sharing is caring so you can only imagine how excited I was when I saw this new item and had to have it, but…. no one can use it but the instance owner. Yes i know the treasure box is only for the instance owner as well but you had to go through a lot to get it. Like the cloth and leather rack anyone in the instance can access it, let it be the same for the board.
SOLUTION #1:
1. The instance owner chooses what material to display on the board.
2. People that join the instance do not get to choose but will have access to the board and will get what ever the instance owner chose the day before.
SOLUTION #2:
1. Remove the board from the home instance and turn it in to an item like the “Karmic Converter” where only the owner has access to it.
I am not upset that I got the item for my home instance…I am disappointed at how it works.
Also found some decorations in the royal terrace area that could also just be released to be used as decorations for the scribe to make. The snowglobe used for the mystic forge in that area would make a nice center piece for decorations. If it uses one of the tyrian explorer things to craft it, it would be well worth it just like the a few of the other larger decorations that require that.
Highly disappointing… just ugly blocks of ice
ANet should’ve just given us sacks of coal since we’ve apparently been naughty
Can you run trough them? On the picture it seems you literally cut off a bridge with them xD
Unfortunately you can not run through them and yes we cut off the bridge for that… great way to troll guildies by blocking off ares but ….meh

THAT is ice? Where do these people live? Arizona?
Wouldn’t be so bad if that so called block of ice didn’t look like a giant block from minecraft….
My hope is that there is a whole year between now and next wintersday and maybe…. some of the suggestions will make it in to the decorations. Our guild just felt cheated or let down with what was released this wintersday as far as decorations go.
Piles of snowballs as a decoration would also be a nice addition!! One snow maker will allow anyone to grab a snowball from it so there would be no need to have the decoration do that as the snow maker is already doing that.
Want to compare decorations by season….
These are 2 images of the same guild hall and area…. Please consider making more decorative items for wintersday….
Which is great for guilds who have alot of people donating or rich people. Blocks are fairly uninteresting when you can only make a handful sadly.
We are not a large guild but we have people donate items in advance for future game events to go towards guild decorations. If given the choice I would have rather had to craft a bunch of presents then a block of ice.
I, for one, fully intend to use these new blocks of snow to make a giant snow castle in my guild’s hall.
I would love to see a pic of this…
For myself this was just disappointing. So much potential was lost. I just feel Anet dropped the ball on this one and it isn’t even New Years Eve! =(((
Yes a lot of the winter decorations I am talking about already exist in the game; the 3 present bundle, the big Christmas tree with snow and colored lights, the red bow and green garland, the candy canes, peppermint pads, the snowmen you have placed in the wintersday area…. in that area a lone you have many decorations that could have been used for guild halls. I love to look at how guilds decorate their guild halls for things like this including ours.
I can understand the want for larger block structures and that is not my point. Having a guild hall decorated in the festive decorations like the Halloween ones would have been nice. Instead…you get blocks of ice….
So our guild was very excited about Wintersday coming up and hoping for new decorations for our guild hall as we get all excited with the new seasons. Unfortunately…we got blocks of ice to craft…. blocks….of….ice…. The snow man is a statue like the ram statue….. The Christmas tree no taller then a norn… The guild halls we have are dessert or jungle…. but we could work around that if there wasn’t a limit to the amount of decorations you can place in an area (yes I know it was recently increased).
Suggestion: you already have many of the decorations in the game find a way to make the scribes able to craft them:
1. Presents or present bundles like the balloons.
2. A larger tree like the one you have in divinity reach with the lights and the star on it (combine the smaller tree’s into a bigger one.
3. Snowmen that look like snowmen and not an ice sculpture (it could use carrots and lumps of coal and cloth to help craft it).
4. Some type of garland (you can gather many different greens and what not to make this).
5. Christmas lights… can use some unid dyes to craft this.
Anyways …. there are many things that can be done and hopefully this will help for future guild hall decorations. I love to take pictures of our gh once it is decorated and post them…. not to much to take a picture of but lots of snow and snow makers….. oh and the blocks of ice.
There are active internal discussions pertain to issues that could impact RMT spam. We are always attempting to make the experience for our players better. Suggestions like a client side chat filter or a friend only whisper option only tackle the surface of the problem as players would have to enable those options. By doing so, they would become less social with the rest of the community and that’s not what GW2 is about. I understand that may be what some want, but I’d rather spend developer time fixing the core issues than adding surface filters.
My communication with the open game world has never been an issue! Talking with other players via many forms of chatting methods was how I built my friends list. Certainly NOT through whispers. I have been playing Guild Wars since GW1! You speak of fixing core issues…that is another subject… My request is to give me the option to not be whispered by joe blow from timbuktwo about shineys I don’t want! I enjoy playing this game…this is the ONLY game that I play in my free time. I certainly do not want to play it in an “offline” state nor should I have to just to avoid being scam spammed.
My solution is an option already set in place with the free to play accounts… they cant whisper anyone not mutual friends with so ….. How do they communicate and build a friends list? They simply use the map/say/party chat….BOOM!
Okay, obviously I know never to buy gold from a gold seller…. but is it still okay to send them troll responses back before report/blocking them?
I know there’s a good chance that they may never see that reply or even know what language I’m replying in…. but if there’s even a slim chance I can disturb them and make them regret pestering me….. I enjoy taking it.
The problem with this is now they whisper you from an “offline” state so you cant even troll them back!
I do like the idea of not receiving whispers from people who aren’t mutual friends. That is a worthy suggestion, in and of itself, regardless of the gold selling scum.
Frankly, I would agree with those of you who feel that way, and I do see the value of that. I my line of work, it wouldn’t be the best thing.
But for most players, yep, it’s something I believe could make a good QoL change.
But I wanted to ask a question: How would you build a friend list without whispers? Or maybe I’m more wondering how would you discuss adding someone, mutually, without whispers? Open chat?
I knew this question was going to come up and I have prepared a response:
1. Say Chat
2. Map Chat
3. Team/Squad Chat (PvP and WvW)
4. Guild Chat
5. Party Chat (like when looking for group for people for Fractals/Dungeons)
Many of the friends on my list were met this way. It is just as easy in all of these chats to simply say “Hey I have added you to my friends list if you ever want to hang out or do things.”
99.99% of the time if someone whispers me and I don’t know them my first response is …..“Do I know you?”
However there are many ways to build a friends list and having the “Mutual Friend” option would alleviate a lot of the unwanted whispers.

How do you suggest we “close down” a company in another country, on another continent? Yes, they have accounts. Some are purchased. Others are stolen, and they’re not stolen through a loophole in our systems, but through insecure practices on the part of the user or through a breach of another service where the user has used the same password. (Example: User has 123XYZ as their password on SomeMailProvider.com and uses the same on Guild Wars 2.)
This means:
- We cannot close down another company.
- We will not IP Block so that entire nations, regions, or continents are unable to join our game. (That would seem most likely to impact legitimate players, and the bad guys would use work-around.)
- We can help players who are hacked, and we can offer advice on how to best prevent it, but we cannot actively prevent individual account thefts because that’s simply outside our reach.
Which means that you should:
- Block them in chat.
- Submit a report (right click on their name in chat, left click to open the report window, then choose “gold seller” as the reason).
- Never buy gold from a third party and don’t accept it from those who do.
With your help, we can do our best to reduce the annoying chatter and, coupled with not supporting their business through spending, will have a significant impact on the company. Thanks for your help!
Thank you for responding…. I did alter my post with a suggestion, since yes shutting them down seems a bit far fetched. I don’t disagree at all with any of the aforementioned. They are blocked, they are reported, and I have never bought anything from them. But Maybe the option to just not get whispers from folks not on your friends list… not followers but Mutual Friends only can whisper you. It is already in place with the free to play accounts.
Just Trogdor, I suppose you are right about the wording…. Though I am not advertising anything that these sites are doing… I just had a lot of questions. Maybe it is hard for them to “shut it down” and may they will “just make new ones”, I suppose I am so super annoyed by all of these whispers…and no way of making it stop. I should not have to play “offline” to not receive these annoying whispers.
Maybe Anet could develop a system similar to the way free accounts work… where if you are not friends with that person you simply can not whisper them? This way you would then only get whispers from people on your friends list.
With much regret I have altered this post… I do not support these guys but will go with my suggestion…..
Is there a way you , Anet, could set up a platform like the free accounts have where if you are not friends with that player or account that they simply can not whisper you? This would cut down on a lot of the gold selling spam I get while enjoying my game.
I should not have to play on the “offline” mode to not get these whispers. It simply is not fun.
I do have a blocked list full of names and have reported every single one… This takes the fun from me enjoying this game.
