Adding to the cacophony on this issue. Yet another inexplicable problem that is not being addressed by Anet. This has been driving me nuts since the game launched. Between this issue and being suppressed in chat for “excessive messages” for no apparent reason it’s really adversely affecting the enjoyment of the game.

Much of this game they got right but there are a few issues that are just perplexing as to why they don’t fix or at least acknowledge them. Do something or at least say something!

This is not just from posting the same message. This is happening to me even when I’m having a normal (and short) conversation with someone in /say. 5 messages in a 13 minute time period with uniquely worded messages is not by any stretch of the imagination “spam”. I also get the suppressed message on the first message I have typed in 30 minutes or more. How is that “excessive” when I haven’t said a word in half an hour? Or god forbid you say “ty” twice in an hour after getting rezzed by someone.

I’m really baffled by this because it seems that some people are not affected at all and others are getting it constantly for whatever reason. I know if everyone was being affected by this equally the forums would be on fire because it’s preventing the multiplayer aspect of the game which can’t be the intention. ArenaNet just doesn’t seem to care much about it I guess.

Same thing is happening for me. Never before did I have any performance or connection issues but since last patch I’m now lagging like crazy and I keep getting disconnected from the game.

I don’t know how their filter works but have you tried varying your messages to a greater degree so it doesn’t think you’re spamming?

It has little to do with varying your messages. This happens to me even when I haven’t said a single word for an hour and then for no apparent reason I’m suppressed. Not after spamming. Not after repeating the same lines or selling gold. Not saying something for an hour and then trying to talk and getting the suppressed message.

This has been going on for months and still not fixed. This is ridiculous that you can’t communicate with people in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game. WTF is the point of this? I mean this is basic, basic, basic. If people can’t talk or communicate it’s not much of a multiplayer game now is it?

It’s way too arbitrary. I had this happen tonight with 5 uniquely worded messages in /say over the course of 13 minutes and I was talking with someone doing an event with me. Why am I being punished for spamming when I’m talking to someone in an MMO? This is ridiculous and not even remotely related to spam or gold. If you can’t make a better filter to catch/contain spam/gold just remove it!

I was having the same problem. Just a blank page there for selling on the TP but all the other pages for buying and gems were there.

I keep getting the message, “Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging” even not doing anything even remotely close to excessive or spam. I’m not repeating the same sentence or words. This is completely preventing me from communicating in public channels.

To give you an idea of how bad this is I was talking with another player in /say and made 5 (uniquely worded) messages between 11:17 and 11:22 and then I said NOTHING for 8 full minutes and when I tried to say something in /say again at 11:30 it was suppressed for “excessive messaging”. Seriously?

This is ludicrous. I understand the desire to prevent spamming or gold sellers and I applaud that effort but to go to this kind of arbitrary extreme..and prevent people from even communicating (in a game that IMO suffers from group activity/communication already) this seems like a really bad idea and it’s very irritating. I found some other messages about this from months ago so this doesn’t seem like a new issue.

I’m having the same problem. Impossible to use the right click mouse-look without randomly attacking things. If I target something and right click it starts my auto attack. I see posts about this going back months and months so it’s kind of idiotic that it’s not fixed by now. o.O

Been with AoA since 2007 through several games. Good bunch of people both in the GW2 division as well as the community at large. If you are looking for a competent and drama free guild to join you should definitely check us out.
