I’m yet another one of the disillusioned masses.

I’ve done 10 runs of Teq so far, and in every single one you know within the first 30 seconds whether it’s going to succeed or not. And at that point, you just spend the next 14 minutes essentially waiting to fail. That is not fun.

I think the time limit is a joke anyway. 15 minutes for the Shatterer is childs play. 30 minutes for the Claw is meaningless.

But 15 minutes for Tequatl is just insane. Hell, on SFR, 30 minutes would still make it impossible for 95% of the population. Tequatl is hard enough, the time limit is nothing more than an artificial inflation of the difficulty. And given the rewards are less than stellar, even the guilds will stop bothering before long, since he just isn’t worth the trouble it takes to bring him down.

Older games had something like this so it’s fair to have it in this game. It doesn’t take that long to farm that many.

I’ve always found that line of logic amusing. it’s like saying that older games weren’t fun, so it’s fine that current games aren’t made to be fun either

Just because it was done before, doesn’t mean it needs to be done again. There’s a reason why most games have an ‘easy mode’ now…

I agree, i probably won’t wear the blue backpack even if i COULD get it (none of my characters would ‘look right’ with that pack, except for maybe my blue suited asura) but that’s not the point, and you know it.

Why should the rewards be time-sensitive at all? why not just make the reward for this SAB a [2nd gen super backpack] which looked exactly the same, but was by it’s nametag clearly recognisable as not being an original? Not only does it save the devs work in creating extra item skins, but it reaches the happy medium between the casuals who want the item, and the hardcore who care about the knowledge that they got the item first.

Again why shouldn’t there be a second southsun event in the future that will allow people to get the backpacks again? Apart from soothing the egos of the elitists. And why do you truly care if people who didn’t/couldn’t get the item before get it now?

First things first… Please do not refer to me as ‘you people’ like i’m some kind of second class citizen…

And i’m not saying the people should get them for free (were it not for this thread i would never have even known there were blue bags, i’ve never seen a player wearing one).

I’m saying that when the same event occurs multiple times (like haloween/SAB/dragon bash, presumably), people should get another chance to EARN the same items. I would like to try getting the acheivements if it would earn me a blue bag, because the blue bag would look like an archetypical asura creation… the yellow/green ones just don’t have that same ‘feel’. There should be options for whatever colour of bag you want.

The problem (as you have already demonstrated) is that exclusivity breeds elitism. I don’t like it when people think they are ‘better than me’ just because i was ‘late to the party’.

Counter argument 1: exactly what do you, as a super backpack owner, gain from disallowing other people to gain it? It’s not like your backpack suddenly becomes ugly/useless. it jus means a couple more people own it. Why do you care?

Counter argument 2: What about people who didn’t own the game before april, and thus never even heard of the original SAB event? Should they just be told to suck it for not having been riding the train since it left the first station?

To deny everyone else the chance to get the same stuff that the first group of people got now that the event has rolled around again, is nothing short of infantile. And i’m not really empathising with your ego or sense of entitlement here…

I want the blue backpack as well, just because neither green nor yellow fit the colour scheme of any of my characters, whereas blue fits almost all of them. And as a result i have no desire to go back into the box. So, in exchange for letting the old players remain ‘part of the club’ they alienate a bunch of people who will either flat out ignore the content, or simply not buy the infinite coin (which is the only part that anet really care about)

Exclusivity breeds elitism, and we REALLY don’t need any more of that around here. i own plenty of ‘exclusive’ items in real life, but i certainly would begrudge other people for getting them as well.

Fighting the frog cost me 5 continue coins, and my party lost pretty much the same before we figured out the pattern…

The bosses are pattern based for a reason, that is exactly what you are meant to do. It is an old school boss, as in the only way to beat it is to memorize and follow the pattern it has.

Edit: What did you expect from an omage to old school games?

Well, after all the events like the queens gauntlet an the portal invasions, i guess i was just expecting something a little more casual to appear…

When i saw 2 sets of acheivements, i thought that one would be easy, for the casual players, and one would be hard, for the hardcore players.

But instead we get a hard set, a REALLY hard set, and a god kitten impossible set. I only have 3 continues left, and i really have no desire to go back in there and lose them all because i’m not fortunate enough to enter the levels with prescience.

At the very least there should be a ‘training’ mode. No wonder asura kids grow up to be such arrogant know-it alls, if they used this machine to learn

I’m also going to chime into say that i think this is far too difficult…

I’m not a newbie to jump quests, but i am new to SAB, but these are just stupidly unforgiving, and when you are playing in a mode called ‘infantile’ you reall don’t expect to have your balls broken ver and over.

I wouldn’t mind if i was playing hard mode, but i’m not… And this just reminds me of all the things i hated most about old-school gaming.

yeah, i’ll normally try to do it once a day, only because i’m told the medals are useful, and i hate PvP inngeneral, so this lets me get them without having to the annoying bit.

But i have now come to the beleif that people who camp at any point along the JP to kill people are the most evil people in the entire game. The sanctum is difficult enough WITHOUT people running around one-shotting me, thank you very much :/
