The ability to hide shoulders is a universal feature and it cannot be disabled for just one piece of a set.

But by that same token, isn’t the ability to SHOW shoulders also a universal feature? Does it make sense to disable this for one item in the game?

Thanks for the heads up Regina. It’s wonderful when the devs give a nod to the players that they watch the bug forums. Hopefully the team can put their heads together and have this bug fixed quickly. To my mind, the wait is fine when we know it’s going to be fixed. Hopefully it doesn’t cause too many headaches. This type of fast response is why Guild Wars 2 is the crowning achievement of ArenaNet’s heady list of titles. I tip my hat to you.

Post update: Character head size customization slider is missing for male and female Asura.

Comparisons of existing characters also indicate the change has retroactively normalized head sizes for characters created prior to the update as well.

Head size customization still exists for all other races.

Charr: Face Details -> Horns -> Head Size Slider
Human/Norn: Face Details -> Chin/Jaw -> Head Size Slider
Sylvari: Face Details -> Head Shape -> Head Size Slider

Is this working as intended or a bug?
If working as intended, is there a reason for the lack of documentation in the release notes?
If intended, is there a reason these changes were made in the first place, especially since they alter the appearance of existing characters?
If not intended, are these changes permanent for existing characters made prior to this update?
If not permanent, will head sizes reset to the previously selected values automatically or need to be set manually by the player?
If manually, will this be free or will players be expected to purchase cosmetic upgrades to do this?

Okay, this is not cool.

Please document these changes in release notes!

I don’t see how acknowledging this change could in any way be interpreted as falling under the category of exploit or bug. Surely character customization is a feature and a highly visible one at that.

Every other race currently has a customization option for head size.

Charr: Under “Ears and Horns”
Human/Norn: Under “Chin and Jaw”
Sylvari: Under “Customize your Head”

Is this WAI? Is the retroactive change to my existing Asura permanent? If this changes in the future, will I be given the option to reset for free or charged for the service to return my character to the original parameters I chose at creation?

tl;dr: OMGWTF?

Popping in to add my 2 copper to the discussion. I was part of the zerg that took the map back and snatched the orb. Easily the highlight of the WvW night. Excellent leadership was shown by Jedahs in coordinating the attacks (no, I’m not in their guild, just giving credit where credit’s due).

Hoping to be on for Aus prime time and see us make another glorious stand against the oppression of the green menace.

Slightly off topic I know, but I just wanted to add my 2 copper to say how much I enjoy this bug. The male Asura scream is by far the most entertaining thing in this game, and having it trigger repeatedly has often reduced me to giggle fits.

To the voice actor who created this, bravo.
