Given that the first response to these issues will simply be to remove the gold purchased, and if they keep buying it, only then do they get temp banned (seems they will have to try very hard to get a permanent ban) I would say this is a good change.
If they really didn’t remove the gold before, then all I can say is that it is about time that they do so!
I only reported it through the ingame system, so I guess I’ll have to open up a CS ticket. Given the roughly 1 month I expect to wait in that (since obviously login and payment stuff takes priority), I figured a post on the forum might get some attention a little bit faster. I don’t really need to know the outcome though, since I can see on my friendlist that he logs in every day (probably a paid account tbh, why would you risk your legendary over 10k AP account for 100g?).
Here is an official statement on scamming

Game Support Lead
“I wanted to give you a quick rundown on what involvement Customer Support takes regarding defrauding/scamming. Let’s look at the two parts of this:
1. We do not reimburse wealth lost to other players for any reason if it is outside of the Black Lion Trading Post. This is because Customer Support can not duplicate wealth. With the volume of requests coming in we alone would damage the economy if we were to restore wealth lost when trading takes place.
2. We terminate accounts permanently for defrauding (scamming). If you are found to make a deal to trade (say, sword for gold) and not hold up your end we will investigate and terminate. If you are the victim of a scam you should submit a support ticket and provide what you lost and the time and date as accurately as you recall. This is usually all we need to research the event but we will ask you if we need more info. You do have a right to know the outcome of these investigations but be aware these take us a few days to resolve.
Please be sure to include the full details of your trade via game chat (any channel is fine) in Guild Wars 2
We absolutely must be able to see the deal being made to find guilt. Do not use voice chat software or other means to communicate while making a sale/trade.
Again; this will help us terminate accounts that are cheating other players but will not result in a recovery of your losses.
Please understand that you are allowed to trade outside of the BLTP – but you will not receive replacements for lost items or gold. The same goes for selling dungeon runs. CS will not suspend or terminate you for selling runs. We will, however, take action if you take payment and not fulfill your end of the bargain.”So, you should have reported it to support, the closer to the event the better, your thread doesn’t say if you did. If it’s been a while then they are going to need to know as close as to the exact day and time it happened and they will need to be able to see messages in chat or emails.
I guess I forgot to mention that I did report him, and encouraged the rest of my team to do so also.
My point is should it take 2 weeks, and how is he still playing every day if he is permabanned?
Hi,
First off I am not sure if this is in the right section, if it is could it please be moved?
I was just curious as to the Anet policy regarding scammers selling runs but not delivering. It has been 2 weeks since I and 3 other players were scammed out of 100g by paying for an Aetherpath run including all achievements, while only receiving one of the achievements.
Obviously our “runner” suddenly had to run off. I requested a partial refund since he didn’t fulfill his end of the bargain, but was promptly ignored. I asked a guild member to do the same, and this person was also ignored.
Our incredible scammer, running around with his 13k AP and legendaries has been logging in every day since the 2 weeks or so that it happened. Obviously I will not name and shame on the forum, but if an Anet employee feels that people who scam atleast 100k (and probably more, I doubt this is the first time) without so much as a slap on the wrist, I can of course provide the account details of the scammer.
I know that I can’t get back my money through CS, and that is fine. But should he still be running around and scamming more people?
For the people who do log in immediately after a new patch is released, it takes a couple of minutes for the event to fire so just stick around until it does.
And don’t forget to get the alcohol collectible too!
(In the meanwhile if Anet could consider fixing this year old bug, we’d all appreciate it).
The rule for most MMO’s has always seemed to be that multiboxing is OK as long as everything is being controlled by a human. And multiboxing in GW2 is really hard to pull off.
The “You must be actively playing on each account” rule seems like a strange one though. Can you really be banned for going AFK? What’s the reason for this rule?
You can go AFK and not be banned.
What you can’t do is have a macro, script, bot or similar copy the movements you make on one account onto the other accounts.
Your gw1 password is your gw2 password in case you connected them. If not, this is absolutely the wrong place to post. Just make another ticket.
Unless you changed your GW2 email like I did, then god knows what happens to your GW1 password (the GW1 email remained the old one).
They have not fixed it, you were just lucky enough to log in to a fresh server.
Seriously Anet, either fix the kitten event or move the collectible items to merchants which are not bugged 99% of the time! It is really frustrating and the solution is so simple.
ticket # 1260473 8 days sofar and no response, issue with resetting GW1 password. Basically I changed the account email and as such the GW2 password is not the same as the GW1 password, even though the two accounts are linked through HoM
