Is Thief still fun for you?

I became a bit inactive before the huge changes with the Thief classes, and at the time my main and favorite class was Thief and it was around level 60. I decided to start playing more actively again, in which I decided to read forums a bit and I have seen a lot of good outlooks but oh so many bad outlooks on the changes with the thief class. So I just want to ask, is the class still fun to play in regards to PvE, WvW, PvP? Or should I not focus on Thief so much and go try other classes more exclusively.

Build for PvE S/D--D/P?

I am still a bit new to thief for the most part, my current almost at 50.
I’ve been using S/D and SB up till now and it’s been loads of fun, especially S/D which I think I’m going to probably use forever lol. Haven’t tried sPvP yet, other than to test out builds and such, but after playing with SB for a while I am not really into it even though yeah it’s pretty awesome.

After reading a lot about D/P, I wanted to test it out too but not really sure what I should be aiming for. From what I understand, I should be trying to focus on stacking bleeds and poisons right? However I am confused because the build I’m using for S/D
(0/20/30/20/0) kind of gimps me a bit I think unless I completely change the traits around. I’m going for a crit build and so far have put nothing for condition dmg.

Is there some way I can have best of both? Plan my armor sets to make up for the lack of condition dmg support that I have set my traits to? Or am I not understanding enough about the builds or something :/
Thanks!

Why was stealth changed?

I posted this in another thread but just gonna copy it here. lol

I for one liked how the mechanics functioned before the patch.
It was cool to have a build that consisted of high toughness which allocates aggro tables to put that character higher on the priority list, when the character itself is squishy but was able to stealth to give aggro to someone else, heal, and support. But to nullify the only means to reset aggro and (situational) send it to someone who has high vitality/specific boons etc.. and set the thief back up on the aggro table is really breaking how the class is played in my opinion.
So basically a stealth build thief is now just a squishy warrior with high toughness making it a higher threat to mobs on aggro tables who uses stealth to try to heal and backstab (If they’re even using D/D) instead of just using straight out healing utilities and boons like real warriors do!? Thanks Anet T_T

However I am still fairly new to GW2 and I guess I just might not understand how Anet works, but my question(s) are:
1) Did any person who normally plays thief ask for this?
2) Did Anet disclose that they were thinking of changing aggro tables for stealth and ask the community’s opinion since virtually no one was talking about it?…LOL
3) Is it me, or is all this information being shared on this thread, though insightful on both ends of the one sided argument going to be acknowledged by Anet at all? A bit of time has passed since the patch and still no word (that I know of) from an Anet representative on the matter to at least explain their reasons for changing a mechanic that no one asked to be changed. :/

I do understand I might be asking a lot of Anet by suggesting to..you know.. interact with it’s members lol. Especially on an issue like this in which they change a mechanic in the best interest of said members and also which has received the majority opinion of WTF!? Why!?. But some sort of explanation would be cool :/ Then again I might be asking too much.

If there is a thread of what I have mentioned. Please link because I have seemed to have missed it.

GW2 Combat System 101 (Guide)

For those like myself who come from other MMO’s, this guide is definitely a trove of truly useful information. Personally, GW2 mechanics gameplay would have taken me a lot longer to figure out on my own and it’s good that Dreamy took the time to clearly explain them in a fashion that makes it all seem simple.

Though there may be people who believe there should be more to add to this guide in accordance to their own experiences of GW2, such as previous posters for example. I believe they missed the point, in that this guide is merely designated to touch base on logically sound fundamentals, which are simple yet applicable and useful throughout a person’s entire GW2 experience.

Good job! Have some cake!

Ah nice! Thanks for sharing the combo info. I was kind of just guessing at what was effective in overall PvE but that combo sounds kitten.

Never played Thief before and have been trying out the different weapons and I really like S/D and P/P alternative. I also want to try and go with a stealth build, but I’m also new to GW2 so I am kinda not really sure which traits or utilities that would really benefit.. :/
Been messing around with different builds in the Mists but still unsure on how to proceed.
Any info would be awesome <3

~Darkhaven server~
I started playing GW2 yesterday and now am at lvl 10/Thief.
I’ve grasped the general basics I think but none of my friends or guildies from FFXIV want to play with me here

I understand that most guilds have a level requirement, and I’m not looking for free stuff, but I think I would have a better/easier time if I had a group that I could ask a question or two about things while I get my character up to standards.

I use vent/ts as well too so uhh. Yeah
Muchos appreciated to those who wanna be friends <3

I’m brand new to GW2, well Guild Wars in general. I usually play FFXIV but while the server’s down for the next month gonna be active here and then just play both I guess (Triple screen nerdism yay?)

Anyway, don’t have any friends to play this with so kinda been roaming the lands looking for random copper mining points. I tried out the maps that I found through google, however when I get to those locations, there aren’t any nodes there :/

I then read something about the locations being different for each person or something? Like even if someone mines a node, it will be there for the next person anyway. I have no idea if that affects anything but uhh yeah lol.

My character is Human-Darkhaven server. So I’m at Queensdale. Thanks
