Is there any other reason for a forum in an MMO?
The post is a bit of a rant I know but can’t get over how little I found in the game.
I Hated ESO with every fibre of my being but even managed to get through closed and open beta there (longer than the month here).
For me this game was probably a top MMO then, maybe, things were changed to make it easier for console people, then made quicker for steam users who want to move on to the next game as quick as possible, then people were fleeced on the update, then, that’s where it is now.
No Solo guilds, 80 probably in a day if you know what to do (or have those level things, I have 49 already). Min/max PVP and your PVP level seems to mean nothing in matching or if you are pure PUG against a full guild. WvW is blob during peak, IF you can get in. Dungeons are just abuse. LFG um lol.
PVE Storylines, sorry I can’t even think of how to describe them.
My opinion. That’s all, forum’s are the place for these things.
When’s GW3 coming out and will it be F2P?
Hi all
Done my time here now and wondering where the game is?
Tried PVE, here’s a level, like it and we might give you another pile for free, if you cap before finishing the 40 level areas let us know and we’ll make it easier.
Tried PVP, Min/Max obsessed people but still get through on a noob condi/turret Engineer, enjoyable listening to them cry but that wears thin quickly.
Tried WvW, actually it’s ok during quiet times when it might be 1on1, 1on5 or just blobbed, then is follow the leader, around and around and around and oh god this is the umpteenth time I’ve captured this place today.
Dungeons are just kiddies screaming that everyone else is rubbish.
Raids, who knows? Joined a guild that advertised raid training and then won’t take anyone with gear that hasn’t taken as long as they have been in the game to get, got kicked from the guild for asking them to stop complaining everyone else in the game is useless.
So, that has taken less than a month, (as well as playing EVE, WoT and DDO) I don’t play console games but have younger relatives that do and that is the maximum any game lasts for them. Is that what this game, which has been praised to me for years, has become?
ps, before anyone starts, EVE is anything imaginable as soon as you have a few toons, WoT is just random PVP fun and DDO is, well, DDO.
all that and you just joined 5 days ago. impressive and repulsive in equal measure eh.
just around a month, learn to read what your posting on.
welcome to mmos in general
you are also adding to the true mmo experience by whining pointlessly on the forums
Been around MMO’s for a long time and only get to whining on the forums when its better than playing the actual game.
Only second game in 14 years so not bad.

Greetings all. There are those who may not be aware of this, but Anet is one of the most LGBT friendly game companies in existence. Not only do they have a bunch of openly transgender people employed in development and music composition, but they are the first to incorporate homosexual relationships in GW lore, and had the first same-sex kiss in the main story line of a top MMO. To add to this, GW2 also features the first transgender NPC mesmer in Lion’s Arch!
Being a pioneer in gaming, I think it’s time for Anet to once again push the envelope further towards equality for all. I believe the time is right for Aid Worker Sya to join our heroes in the next Living Story arc. What better way to teach acceptance and tolerance than to put a transgender character front and center in a main story? The story could detail the struggles that a transgender person in the world of Tyria, why Symon became Sya, and how she overcomes adversity in the face of Elder Dragon threats. Dare I suggest that Sya be the one to deal the killing blow to the Elder Dragon in the next expansion?
As a straight liberal male, I salute Anet for all they’ve done to connect with all types of players. Good job MO and Colin (if you still lurk our forums)!
Maybe the best troll post I’ve seen in a while. It’s an RPG so play what you want. Its the internet so be who you want.
Sorry, unless you want to solo a guild, now that’s discrimination.
I bought this game years ago and played it for a while until life stepped in and I had to quit until now. I play his when I have the time, and even though I really want to, the people playing this game as well are starting to make me feel like this decision was a mistake.
My max level was 33, on an asura ranger. I decided to start fresh and made a new toon – a sylvari thief. I noticed some Tomes on my bank and I used them, now I’m level 26, but my gear is too weak for me to actually handle myself in combat. I’ve asked help from a few people but all I got was cold behavior from their part.
I tried PvP, but these people are so toxic, so vile that I just turned the game off. I remmeber that everyone was so nic to each other back then, but now everyone’s mean and toxic… maybe coming back was a bad idea.
I started not too long ago and levelled a toon to 80 in a few weeks with no idea how to play the game. Don’t think too much about what you are doing, the game seems to be designed (or nerfd) to almost throw levels at you.
Each racial area will take anyone, getting mobbed in 15-25 then run all the 4 other 1-15’s and so on. Your gear won’t really even count.
The ‘community’ in game is the same as in every other MMO, possibly a bit younger and from wow. Voice Comms, Steam and Consoles destroyed anyone helping anyone else years ago. Go solo its not hard, forget gear, its pretty pointless until ‘End Game’ where it really doesn’t matter much unless you are in a kittenty guild who won’t play with anyone who isn’t ‘Meta’.
Play same or lower level zones and forget guilds, no one wants to know in them until your gear is as good as theirs.
Bit of a wobbly set of advice but simply the game is so easy to level, levelling has no meaning. If you are struggling change your class, the skills numbered 1-5 are not really changeable so if you are used to rotations you like, ie, putting things where you want, you will struggle. If I remember right the rangers no3 is a skill that stops auto-attack, bit pointless in the middle button.
I went engineer, every ‘guide’ said its useless, rubbish, pointless, whatever, but for new people even keys 1-4 are useful and wont kill you by leaving you next to a mob you were trying to range and the turrets are really good.
Unless you are ‘Meta’ ofc, then all the do is make you cry.
btw never ever read Dulfy or any reddit site (for any game), the builds are for end game people who cant figure out how to play the toons they levelled, anyone who does should be banned for botting.
You can get the first part of the guild bank for 50 gold and 1000 favor without needing a guild hall or any other upgrades. Beyond that, yup, a solo guild is stuffed.
The 1000 favor can be earned in a few days by doing the open world guild missions, esp the “follow and assassinate” ones, as other guilds will be killing the same target so you just need to get a few hits in.
Ah, when I looked at the mission it was in its own instance I think and there were three separate mobs that had to be killed within 30 seconds, I died trying to kill 1.
I’ll keep an eye on it over the next few days and see if the mission changes. (I’d say weeks but the game is getting stale already lol)
Thanks for the other answers as well. If the game doesn’t like solo players then I’m sure it won’t want any money from us lol.
I’m new to the game and before coming here read a lot about having a solo account guild. I have done this is mmo’s before and grinding out a decent guild/corporation/alliance/etc solo in some games is something that can keep me interested after the content of the game dies. I also liked the fact you could have up to 5 guilds, for me that would be 1 solo and 4 with others for different game types.
Now I’m in the game and purchased HoT I find that solo guilds have been pretty much removed and to just get a guild bank is way beyond my current capabilities as a new player (10000 WvW points in 30 minutes, 7 or 8 times).
Does anyone know if this will change back? I realise guilds are allegedly social areas but I’m sure there are other players like myself who like the achievement of making things ourselves, or like separate storage, or who just don’t like other people endlessly going on and on and on and on in the chat box.
Also is there a trading site somewhere where people sell off or give away old unused guilds? That would seem to be the best bet for my own guild.
