Same thing happens to me, except rather than just going completely silent, my speakers let out this low pitched pulsing sound. Weird
How well does this gun run? I was looking around newegg, and this card is going for $330 + Free Sleeping Dogs voucher, which is a steal compared to its almost $500 starting price. I am currently running Crossfire 7770HD(AMD 12.8 +AMD12.9 CAP1) and a FX-6100 @4.5Ghz, so I was curious to the cards performance(particularly in this game, and even skyrim/BF3 is possible.) Also what drivers have worked the best for you so far? Thanks!
Notes: Please spare me the AMD/Nvidia or AMD/Intel flame-war. This is my build, so this is what im working with :p.
-Also, please don’t post links to benchmarks of this game. I have done my research, however those are fairly out-dated impressions of this card, especially with updated drivers bringing more support for the 7900 series.
Haha, I am we’ll aware if the axe attack ability, it’s just that I prefer to use a bow since I play a ranger because of that.
Well maybe enabling our arrows to have bounce effect is too much to ask for.![]()
But as I stated , arrows can be dodge so easily which I hope they can have a "target lock " ability for ranger.
One of the skill traits in the marsksman spec line makes all arrows pierce target, enabling one single arrow to pass through and damage 3 targets at once. Not the same as a bouncing arrow, but can equally as effective in the right situation
I went for the same build as you, here is my lvl 80 Ranger specs, including weapons

The quickening zephyr traits turns your bow into an automatic DPS machine! With this build, my SB is doing 500-600 damage per shot with criticals anywhere from 850-1100. The Axe in conjunction with the warhorn is hitting for 650-800 per hit with criticals around 1100-1200. In addition, all my runes, sigils and amulets are geared towards increased my power, precision and critical damage, something you dont want to overlook if you are going for a DPS build. Hope this helps.
Edit: With this build, I also feel like the frequency of critical hits is close to 50% of my hits(including pet damage.)

Entangle is very useful during dungeon crawls. Especially in CM, when you get mobbed by 10 guys at a time -_-. Activate that, then go right into barrage with your long bow.
- Skill Point
- Mount Maelstrom (Infinity Coil Reactor)
- No NPC present to initiate skillpoint(The skillpoint will “activate” upon entering the proximity, but no-one to initiate."
- Stormisle Bluff
The most rewarding aspect of the pet is the fact that in more cases than none, they take the majority of the aggro. This becomes pretty important allowing you utilize your ranged attacks to their fullest capacity. In addition, being able to stack buffs in coincidence with your pet make for some killer Critical hits and damage combos!
In reference to the OP, what level is your character currently? IF you feel the pets are underwhelming, try maxing out the beastmastery traits, then get back to us :p
I really only use the LB during Dynamic events when you are dealing with Hordes of enemies. Hitting them with barrage first can deal a massive damage spread, plus the knock-back is beneficial for any straggling enemies approaching your from range. Barrage is the only real advantage LB has over the axe, unfortunately.
I’m running an ATI HD 7770 and my fps on my 30’ TV is only at 25-27 FPS, i know thats low because i run BF3 at max settings and its smooth, what do I need to do to fix this, I am a complete noob at computers and settings so, I understood what you said by changing but I just don’t understand the values, like what should I change my values too? I know how to get there to change but just don’t know what to change the 2D clocking values to. Help Please.
That fps is totally normal. A 7770 is not that powerful card. I have a 7950 and it drops to 30ish at worst @ situations with a crapton of people. imma try the amd profiletoday, i hope it works
I installed AMD 12.9 beta drivers and 12.9 CAP 1 yesterday, and ive definitely noticed a slight improvement. No real Framerate boosts, but the frame drops have definitely become minimal. I know the 7900 cards have been problematic with this game, so you may experience different results.

Here are the benchmarks for 7770. Depending on your CPU, this could be a lower average FPS. Im running 7770 in crossfire (buyers remorse to the max) and my average is only about 45-60 at maxed settings. In really congested area, I can still drop as low as 35. This game is very VRAM dependent, and 1GB is not a lot these days, but still manageable
Edit: I am also overclocking my FX-6100@ 4.5 ghz. If your drivers are up to date, but your CPU is outdated, you could also be looking at a bottleneck.

Ive actually been running something similar, except I do Axe/warhorn. I will usually start with activating Call of the WIld to get that fury/might/swiftness, then hit then with a quick ricochet and splitblade. The, to finish off, I switch over to the the shortbow, then immediately change out pets to grant swiftness and might. The rapid fire of the SB does some massive damage!
It actually took me until Level 80 to star using the axe/warhorn. I was rocking the SB/LB combination prior. Silly me :p
I find myself “wasting spells” or aimlessly swapping weapons just to gain that extra speed boost during combat and roaming. I thought at first it was a race related thing (I am a norn, so I figured the brute was sluggish.) however I guess its a general issue with the class :/
Great. Thanks for the clarification, guys!
The longbow is definitely beneficial when you are coming up on a gang of baddies. Especially with opening strike, the barrage can lay down some MASSIVE AoE damage. In generally, I will usually use the longbow/shortbow combination for reasons people have already described(longbow for initial critical damage, then shortbow for skirmish attacks.) I will also use a Longbow/ Sword+Axe combo if I’m dealing with 3 or less enemies. Plus, the fact that your pet will generally attract most of their attention compliments the long bow very well.
Sorry to sound like a noob but are you saying that if you use healing spring in conjunction with the carpet arrow strike (long bow), your arrows actually cause a healing effect on allies?
I named my Shark “Gnomes Chompsky.” Its a reference to left for dead, in case people were wondering :p
Oh, and my fire hound is lindsey lohan
