While I obviously don’t speak for everyone in my server I consider myself a pretty average SBI player. I play Wv3 every day of the week and I can tell you exactly how I felt last week and the beginning of this week.
Last week was extremely bittersweet. Coming off the weekend with a ~40k lead on HoD was amazing. Everyone on our Teamspeak was having fun, coordinating, and calling out enemy movements. We were having a blast, and really enjoying the PvP. Then Sunday night/Monday morning rolls around. HoD night crew manages to close the gap about 10k points and it starts to sink in to us on teamspeak that this is why HoD is so dominant. Whatever, we fight hard and maintain our lead. Monday night/Tuesday morning rolls around, I logged on at ~5:30 EST after work to see HoD holding ~600 PPT and them having closed ~25000 to ~30000 point differential in 1 night. People stop logging on, and the obvious questions being asked in Teamspeak are: Why don’t we have a night crew? What’s the point of upgrading towers and keeps if they’re just going to get taken when we go to sleep? Needless to say this pretty much sapped all morale that we had gained during the weekend. It’s impossible to compete when you’re asleep or at work and things aren’t going to change soon.
Again, I’m only speaking for myself but I can venture a guess that a lot of other people on SBI feel this way also. Rolling in to this week I didn’t feel the excitement I felt last week. I still logged on, I still jumped into EB, and I still fought my hardest and communicated, but there was always this feeling that none of my effort mattered at all. Everything was still going to get rolled Monday morning. I think that kind of feeling permeated through our community, and we’re ready for a better fight, a more meaningful one. JQ is doing great, and that’s awesome for them, but they’re still just going to be second place, just like we were for weeks and weeks, and they too will feel that bitter sting of hopelessness when they get nightcapped week after week if things stay the same.
Personally, I believe dropping to second tier for a while will be great for our server. Facing opposition that doesn’t have the incredible night crew that HoD does. It’s my sentiment, and I know many others on SBI feel this way also, that a SBI/JQ/ET match would be much more rewarding and exciting than facing HoD vs. Door for the umpteenth week straight.
That’s my two cents. Take it how you will.
Yeah dude. I’m so afraid of those guys I just go to sleep and then when I wake up I’m still so scared that I go to work!
SBI would rather hold on to second place then ever make a bid for first. Then talk about third place servers like JQ or ET being bad. HoD is monster to beat, but they will never be beaten until SBI attacks them head on because I promise you JQ, ET or whoever will end up third will go for HoD.

I tend to play Eternal, so that may not be as directed at borderlands people. The SBI on Eternal take an HoD supply camp and maybe a keep, then just stops attacking them.
You are the very epitome of a JQQer. If you think any of this is remotely true you’re absolutely insane. We haven’t even started playing yet and you’re already making excuses.
To provide a dissenting opinion: Even if SBI were to bridge the population imbalance and get 24/7 coverage, that would be what…. 2, maybe 3 servers with 24/7 coverage (I heard someone say around here some French server has 24/7 coverage)? How does this fix the issue at all? Anytime some other server plays these servers they’re gonna have a bad time all week. Turning a blind eye towards the problem does not make it stop existing, as well as only fixing the problem in one specific case does not make the problem go away for any other server.
Probably not. Night capping is a huge issue that needs to be taken care of. If nothing changes and our matches stay the same (SBI/HoD/ET) I can’t see myself playing the game in one month. WvWvW is the only thing keeping me playing this game, and the fire and fun and I had during the weekend fighting HoD and ET just isn’t there during the week. Logging on to find everything taken and fully upgraded and having to fight out from our spawn is demoralizing and leads to lower pop counts. Add that to the fact that nobody, myself included, feels like spending coin on upgrades and siege to see it lost every night and you have a losing formula. Something needs to be done.

The truth is that HoD gained ground against both SI and ET, for the most part, during full pop hours. SI gaine 10k per from ~11PM to ~8AM. There was more loss during early evening hours. Basically, sleeping hours and working hours were the weakest hours of HoD. That is what REALLY happened. So, I guess SI had a large group of people on a 3 day weekend. Once that ended, fairness in pops showed the real skilled server.
You’re out of your mind. Posting obviously untrue things and then calling them facts doesn’t make them so.
Quoting this from GW2Guru because it makes too much sense not to:
The general consensus we hear from the community and the other hardcore old school pvp guilds is a general lack of respect for HoD because they rely on their late morning / day presence to claim victory, server resets at patch time favoring HoD, and taking advantage of WvWvW bugs/glitches then bragging about how great they are. Even more laughable is by far the largest chest thumpers you see in this thread are the non NA HoD players who think they have accomplished something by running up the score during NA weekdays with little or no opposition.
Then you sprinkle in all the excuses from HoD, when getting pushed hardcore by SBI/ET over the weekend, such as, and these are direct quotes we’ve read “we are all playing borderland 2 / torchlight 2 this weekend” “a few good non TA guilds left HoD so all we have left is the militia coattail riding players”, “the WvW server reset was a hour late preventing us from queuing as a group/guild.”, " ET/SBI is ganging up on us" etc and I could go on with more excuses from HoD.
Bottom line is a lot of us who date back pre Shadowbane to UO etc laugh at what HoD has needed to do to secure wins every match. It’s like they are the Brittany Spears of GW2.
SBI/JQ/ET match needs to happen. HoD can play by themselves and fight NPC’s ‘cause that’s what they’re doing anyway.
