I was expecting a box in the survey to add comments, so I’ll just do that here.

I thought the 1-time event thing was a neat idea, so I logged on Friday at noon to participate in it. And then everything crawled to a halt and I couldn’t target things, monsters died before they appeared on my screen, and I pretty much sat looking at other people killing things for an hour. And I should note that this isn’t due to my computer being crappy, since it handles GW2 (and other more intensive games) just fine. Everyone and their brother was in Lion’s Arch, in the same small area, and (it seems) the servers couldn’t handle it.

But whatever, there’s more to the event, right? I got some quests, which were hard to keep track of since there’s no real quest log or anything in the game, and went to talk to people, picked up crap from the beach, etc. Then I got to the Sylvari guy in the town by the coast, and saw someone kill him, so I waited for him to respawn. And I waited some more. After an hour or so I logged out and came back later in the afternoon. This time he was here, but when I talked to him nothing happened.

So I logged out and didn’t bother to come back for the rest of the event.

Takeaways

  • If there are going to be quests other than the main story quests, there should be a system to handle them. Right now there isn’t.
  • NPC interaction issues should be resolved before the event starts.
  • Maybe instead of just hundreds of monsters appearing everywhere at once and everyone furiously clicking hoping to hit one, figure out another way to do a massive event.

Anyway like I said I think it was a cool idea, and if not for the technical issues it would have been fun.

I was in a group that had the same problem that Nosleepdemon and Riddler posted. I would guess that lots of people also have the problem.
