Pve content - Veteran map instances?

You could always downgrade your gear if things seem too easy for ya. Swap out all your gear for rare equivalent or maybe even masterwork.

All my characters are 30+, the highest just hit 40. Most of my gear is self-crafted, dropped by mobs or bought with karma.

I don’t believe veteran instances would split the community, I have no idea about numbers of instances per specific zone, but I’m sure one or two veteran ones wouldn’t change anything for players in the default instances.

Pve content - Veteran map instances?

I just came back to GW2 after 4+ years. I barely scratched it after the launch despite enjoying the game quite a bit.

From I have seen so far the game hasn’t changed much. One thing is still annoys me is the inconsistency in difficulty of the pve content.

Killing mobs barely takes any effort, to the point you can easily kill them by using the auto attack abilities alone. No need for dodging, smart positioning, using specific skills. You usually have to put some effort only if you gather a bigger group of normal mobs or have a veteran in the mix. On other hand champions which are admittedly group content can kill you in few hits. I really wish normal mobs and events actually took some effort.

I know rebalancing so far in the game release probably isn’t going to happen, but maybe ArenaNet could introduce “Veteran Instances” of the game world?

You could basically tick a box during the login process and you would enter a map instances where mobs are more dangerous, have more health/dps, higher number of mobs in groups or far more veteran mobs on the map. You could reward players with a higher chance for a better loot from the the veterans etc.

This way people who want a relaxed default experience wouldn’t complain while people who want more on the edge experience would join the veteran instances.

I desire more things to do at max level

I have news for you. This is a theme park MMORPG. Nicely and smartly done and probably one of the most enjoyable theme park games in long time….but it is still a game with finite game content with some re-playability mostly focused around pvp.

The end game argument makes no sense with theme park games and I suggest you stop believing in the mythical end game. It doesn’t exist. Every game ends at one point.

That said, I have five characters and most of them around lvl 30, one getting close to 40. I easily have clocked around 120-150 hours of gameplay and I’m no where close to finishing the existing game content.

To keep you entertained with something which is not a huge grind and a pointless chase of marginally better gear the game had to stop being just a theme park. Of course if you aren’t one of those sad people who think chasing a slightly bigger carrot on a stick while repeating the same dungeons over and over again is fun.

It would need to introduce sandbox content. Maybe a new ripe for guild conquest continent with clan owned castles, mines, trade towns, new resources needed for craft able gear which gets damaged and can be lost in battle. Maybe with some pve invasions and dynamic events with dragons burning down guild towns Most likely build around clan politics and pvp, which would obviously wouldn’t please many people who simply dislike pvp. Well at least it would have some replaybility value. You can clearly see on this forum that people never stop disagreeing and fighting over smaller things then who owns a piece of land, a castle or a mine in a this or other zone.

Engineer kits in general are not that amazing but 3 of them are completely unusable.

I think the intention with many kits was to not make them autonomous and independent. They are supposed to complement the guns and each other.

You can switch between them without a cooldown at any moment. Use it to your advantage. If you insist on using one weapon or one kit at all times, you do it wrong.

Charr run animation

The run animation could be smoother, as it feels a bit jerky, but I don’t mind it at all. I like Charr, they have such an asura rich diet.

What Endgame does GW2 have?

The game is full of game content. I might be a bit disappointed that there is so few racial specific zones. Around level 25-30 all of us get herded into the same zones…but hey I still have fun with my 5 different characters.

The idiocy of racing to the max level never stops amusing me. This is a theme park game with finite game content. It ends at one point. After a while you get bored of repeating the fun bits. Enjoy the journey, especially you don’t pay a monthly sub.

GW2 is still be best spend 50 dollars / Euros / Pounds in the last few months. Well TBH it was 25 for me.

Weapon swapping?

You can’t swap between weapons, but you can switch between your weapon set and kits without any kind of cooldown. It’s a small price for this amazing choice of skills, situational tricks and damage output.

One-handed Sword and Dodge... Fix it.

Exactly my thoughts. I like the skills on the 1 h sword or at least what I think was the idea behind them. It’s a shame they don’t work as intended. The main skill prevents you from dodging while the second skill often misses the second combo part of it if you fight on uneven terrain: you basically jump back in the direction of the enemy…land on his head and miss…

Fix it.

I will avenge you!

Yeah, can we get an answer on this one ? I was looking forward to my utility build with that skill. Why removed it ? If someone things its too powerful just give it a longer cooldown or lower range.
