I was on the same page as you when I first ventured into HoT. I almost gave up when I tried to defend the frog village. I had to look up tips to kill that boss, which required me to use my range, dodge every single one of his ranged attacks. It took me like 20 minutes to get that done. Things start to get easier from there though. I don’t think the content gets easier, but you become a better player as you survive through HoT.

Now a days, I actually prefer travelling around HoT than core Tyria. It’s nice to see how much you’ve improved when you can deal with mobs you couldn’t handle before! It’s true that I still get scared when I see rolling devils around the corner, but that’s why makes HoT fun. It’s challenging enough to push you to be better.

If it’s too much, then you can always go back to core Tyria and do stuff there for a while! There are tons of stuff to do and things to explore in core Tyria.

Good luck!

Yeah, yesterday I finally unlocked devastation trait and killing has been easier than before with its DPS boost. 1v1 I am pretty good with Jalis/Shiro combo, but when there are mobs, I die pretty quick because shiro’s heal does not seem to compensate for multiple damage by mobs…

I’ve been using UA with Jalis so that I can use IO for longer with auto-attack. Is there a benefit of using UA with Shiro? This is my rotation: Jalis, Sword 2, UA, Hammer, until Shiro’s available (I usually keep Shiro on for IO travel), then Shiro’s heal, IO & auto, rinse & repeat.

Also, I learned that you can do dwarf’s road and hammer 3 & 5 combo to get swiftness, but as I have to stop every few seconds to keep up the swiftness, I don’t know if it’s worth all that effort… Do you think just Shiro and IO would be faster?

Thanks!

Well, before elite spec came about, you really did not have too much incentive to get to level 80 fast. With elites being so much more superior, you begin to feel like getting to 80 is a chore to get to the elite specs. I am leveling my revenant and I’m just dragging my feet along because it’s so slow without Glint perma-swift. So tempted to just use my level 80 boost and be done with it. People will stop rushing to level 80 if they don’t see the need to get to level 80 fast. With elite spec being so overpowered right now, I don’t see that happening.

Thank for that tip!

I was kind of hoping to see if I could get tips on open world exploration leveling but it seems that the revenant isn’t so good with open world leveling until you get glint… so for elite specialization, do they have some sort of special hero points? Just Tyria hero points aren’t enough?

Thanks again!

Hi All,

I’m having difficult in leveling revenant. Compared to my thief, warrior, and ranger, the revenant feels so slow because it lacks speed boost skills. I’ve been running shiro for impossible odds but it still feels uncomfortable as I need to wait for it to reset and use again… I guess I am spoiled by passive speed boosts but compared to all my other classes the revenant feels so sluggish. Do I have to suck it up until I get herald?

Also, despite being a heavy armored class, the revenant seems so frail compared to other classes. My thief’s weak but its weakness is covered by how fast he kills (blinds and stealth helps too), ranger has pets, and my warrior has good healing signet with defense trait. Revenant seems to die too quick, with just an ok damage to compensate for its lack of sustainability.

Currently I’m running sword/whatever available, Jalis and Shiro. Will having traits make things a lot easier soon? Which trait should I train first? Only level 17 but I’m tempted to use my level 80 boost on revenant if I must endure until level 80 to see some improvements.

I would love to get some tips on revenant so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
