Thanks for tips all. I’m still a little unsure on how to build.
Actually when I mentioned running into a zerg, I meant the enemy zerg. I love being on the front lines, and getting right in the thick of it.
So boon duration is possibly a waste with all the boon corruption flying around. Or is boon duration even more important when my boons gets stripped? If my regen gets stripped, will I need the next application to be longer to cover the gaps?
I’ll stack toughness to deal with all the power builds. Still unsure which to prioritize, toughness or vitality. Or get both equally?
I could shoot for 500-600 healing power. Hopefully its worthwhile over investing those same stats directly into vitality or toughness.
Came back with the expansion (especially now eqn is dead). I need some stat advice on how to build my gear for WvW considering all the math and circumstances may have changed. I’m looking to build tanky because I love running right into a zerg.
Healing power:
Is it worth it while taking Druid? Or would the stat dump be better put into more vit/toughness? I will pick up the regen from shouts.
I was testing natural mender and sigil of transference in the mists, but it seemed to do almost nothing. With cleric amulet while sitting at +30% healing my regen ticks, or healing skill was not increasing. Ancestral grace sits at 2,810 with cleric amulet, and only increased to 2,825 something with the extra 30%. Are the trait and sigil bugged, or am I missing something >.>.
Toughness:
Is it worth it? Last I played condis had a stack cap. Burning stacks now, and does its damage quickly. Basically condi damage seems out of control. Spend heavy amounts of stats into toughness or is putting those points into vitality a better option?
Boon duration:
Is it worth it? Mainly for increased duration on protection, and regen. Would the stats be better put elsewhere?
I am getting a huge skill delay in all areas of the game. pve/wvw/spvp. It almost seems like lag, but i’m not sure it actually is.
I am having the same problem. What the hell is going on?
Game is almost unplayable with this skill delay.
Whoa I went ahead and read that linked post.
That is so sad.
Thanks for linking that OP. It was a good story. One I think everyone should check out.
Did you take any suggestions from the last SotG?
I hate to sound rude, but we don’t want Karl on the show.
Do you have a choice in the matter? Maybe have Sharp by himself, or with someone else?
Can we get a response on this issue? Its been 3 months since the OP made this thread.
I just tested this in pvp and the OP is correct.
Also, this trait does not work with soldiers runes sixth set bonus “shouts remove a condition.” Shrug it off will only remove one condition with a full set of soldier runes.
Yea. They don’t want to change dodge rolling while immobilized. Their argument was immobilize can be chained to shut someone down.
I came into the stream late, but….
I’m face palming the whole way through. Karl is especially bad at this.
Maybe it will get better, still ongoing.
Interesting.
Issue is 2/3 of shouts are not used on cooldown. Shake it off is needed for condition removal, and Fear me is just great in a WvW scenario. Shout healing is not incredibly powerful but more like a nice bonus. As for ally support, its hard to factor that in considering most people hang back at range, so they may or may not be in range of the shout.
Anyone else have some input?
I need to know which is superior in a WvW setting.
With the insane grind and time required to get ascended gear, I can’t afford to make a mistake on choosing gear. Not with my limited play time.
Vitality- Seems good for handling burst, and staying in the front lines longer before having to disengage. I’m not sure if vitality helps surviving against fall dmg, or if toughness plays a role. Been plenty of times allys have died form fall dmg while I walk away with a sliver of life. Just a minor perk.
Healing power- I can disengage form the front lines, heal up faster, and then head back in. There have been many times where I throw up healing signet, and sit on a flame ram while enemies rain death on me, and keep myself up without running away. Seems weak to poison though, and with all the combo fields plus exploding cows it can be applied easy. Even with condition removal.
Back in august 2012 I remember Vorsaken and a bunch of others did some big number crunching. They determined vitality gave you more per point invested vs healing power. Does this still hold up?
So which is it? Vitality, or healing power?
Or would a mixture of both be best?
Just to note. I play tanky and get into the thick of it. High toughness is a given. Currently using a 0/0/30/30/10 shout healing build.
P.S. Not interested in rolling a sparkling fairy guardian.
Warriors
“They may have a hard time with enemy conditions, and may need to ask for ally help in order to keep themselves free of hampering conditions.”
What!?
A Warrior having to ask for help? Warriors do not ask for help, they stand firm on the battle field.
Does anyone else feel the class concept design is completely backwards from what a Warrior should be?
I mean you would think a Warriors niche would be to have a strong presence in the middle of the battle field. Having access to high up time of stability would be our #1 thing, while having resistance to or being able to remove snares to close the distance. Some decent endurance regen would also go a long way for better survivability, and position in the midst of battle.
One of the major draws to play a Warrior is to just be a total kitten, charge into battle, and get right in people’s faces. But instead we are forced to sit at the side lines until we get some help from an ally, or run in only to get eaten.
And yet everything is just peachy, because we get that high HP pool, a few bursty type skills, and access to frenzy. How boring.
Stop dulling this class down, and start sharpening the blade.
Why do we an armor gap between exotic and legendary items? I could care less about legendary items, and they should be insanely hard to get.
Ascended gear is not needed.
The Warrior skill shield stance used to have a metallic sound tied to it, while blocking enemy attacks. Can we please have this back?
You can hear it in the old skill video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t12znpCJbY
Fire hitting a shield and making that sound might not be the most realistic thing in the world, but its still sounds more realistic (and better) than the current “dunk dunk” sound we have in game.

What is a Warrior doing running around screaming about justice? Warrior’s don’t care about justice.
They want to slaughter and dominate their enemies.
The shout seems more suited to the guardian profession currently. We should have a name/sound fitting of the Warrior Profession.
Something like. “Slay them all!”
“Strike them down”
“Pick up your blades, and rend the flesh of our enemies. For none shall withstand our overwhelming POWER!!! Bwahahahaha!”
Any other ideas on how we can improve this skill?
So you know how fighting type games will sometimes have a practice mode? Where 2 players can fight each other with unlimited health?
I’m suggesting there could be a sort of battle pit, or open arena where anyone can jump in without fear of dying. Just a big area with players smashing each other with unlimited health. I think this would work great as an ice breaker to learning GW2 pvp combat, and testing builds/skills in actual combat situations instead of just fighting target dummies in the mists. This will also help those who don’t like to pvp, or hate dying to get into pvp and see how much fun it can be.
Now to dueling. I have the same general idea with this one. Dueling or sparring with unlimited health anywhere in Tyria, and only have actual dueling where a player can be downed and defeated in specific areas. This will prevent a lot of arrogant boasting, insults, harassment, and general bullying through dueling. Now when 2 players have an argument they can /duel, and beat on each other for 10 minutes without anyone actually losing or winning just to get it out of their system. I feel this would stay with Anet’s design to keep players together while in Tyria.
Trait: Inspiring Banners.
Doesn’t increase the area of bonuses given out by banner skills. Although the reduced cooldown time portion of the trait works.
