Oha, heared about this condi-surplus on sieges long time ago – and did they really take that long to fix it!? What a shame – but this seems to be characteristic for a big lag in reaction time and on the other hand for the fact that most players prefer about 100+ new weapon skins and reward-chests instead ;-)
Is it possible to win a wvw(=pvp) match without facing enemies?
YES, for shure and it’s common!
We remember nightcapping as a big advantage for ‘bad servers’ to win a match. I mean servers that lost most fights and structures in primetie when all borderlands were croweded. Nightcapping was about 8/24h or less.
Considering today those 20/24 empty new boderlands, the best strategy seems to be PvDoor for up to 20 hours circle raiding. Capturing all structures where is no human defense. Avoid getting in contact, just run away to an unscouted object or another BL. This makes attackers and defenders who search for PvP rage the game. Consequently doing the PvE Aspect and avoiding PvP … leads to victory in points. But this is not the game I like to play.
I remember a good time on Desolation where we had much fun defending keeps, supporting scouts, sieging and upgrading objects and a good TS-communication over all maps, EB included. And PetricaK had much more than only 15 on his tag because people liked what he did.
New BL could be fun, when there is a queue from all 3 opponents on them but the vote is done every day by most players not to join this.

The longer ArenaNet hesitates for giving us a clear statement, the more we feel ignored and rejected.
I can’t believe that ArenaNet really knows what kind of WvW most of us like to play. They might not see how much the WvW-server communities suffer because players and commanders abandon, leaving and avoiding the new borderlands queuing EB or switching the game off. Those few karmatrained raids apart from facing enemies are a very bad replacement for what we had before. Don’t tell me this would be ambitious playing, defending and controlling a map.
Stephane Lo Presti (ArenaNet) made this statement 3 months ago: “Many of our developers are dedicated WvW players but for this event ( Adopt-A-Dev program ) they got out of their comfort zones of the worlds, guilds and friends they knew to fight side by side with other players on different worlds, make new friends and see how other guilds operate.”
If this would still be valid, our questions and suggestions would not be unanswered and maps would get changed from the actual hide-and-seek-maps to better competitional/tactical maps as we know and prefere them …
Do chess-players have to adapt to a Malefiz pitch? No! I recommend: better not overextend borderlands by size and labyrinthic highground and underground levels. A trial with the old borderlands would result in a clear vote for them.

Area HoT-BL = 150 %
Structures EB: 1 castle 3 keeps 12 towers 6 camps (=22 !)
Structures HoT-BL: 3 keeps 4 towers 6 camps (=13 ?)
Walk EB: from Aldons to Bravost you meet: 2 towers, sm, 1 camp
Walk HoT-BL: from NW-Tower to SE-Tower you meet: nearly NOTHING!
Levels EB: most of the area has one ground level, 1 small level underground at keeps, 1 level above on walls
Levels HoT-BL: besides ground level, we have up to 2 underground levels and 2 above …
Shrines for speed up, winds or invis are imo a good idea for the new BL, as well as sentries for NPC-scouting areas. But dollies lost their previous value.
The changes resulted on my server in players refusing HoT-BL, previous engaged Scouts feel useless and don’t engage for sieging and defending a keep over hours. Guilds don’t claim structures for +5 or other advantages. And Guilds started to raid on EB while the EB queue gets longer and loger. HoT Borderlands instead were newer known as to be this empty at primetime. Who likes this hide and seek game on those large maps and less than one dramatic fight per hour? [Except some servers where players just like brainless karmatrain and fighting vs. gates and NPC.]
After some unsuccessful trials to tag up on the new desert borderlands, i prefer now queuing on EB what I rarely did before HoT.
How about a desert-designed, triangular 2nd EB with about 22 structures to capture or defend and less fall-into-death labyrinths?

What is the reward for non professional Baseball or Soccer players? As I know, they don’t get dollar-rewards for the win but they still play year after year this game. They will tell you that they do it just for fun and maybe for the honour to climb in team-rank.
In comparison to a real life game: tell me why people play WvW? Isn’t there something more than just a virtual medal?

Yes: revert them alternately every 2 weeks, so we can compare and see the old maps getting more attention.
The new maps are beautiful but too large for the small willingnes/ability of people to play and controll them over time.
When things are getting wrong and worse, people like to assume it’s only the environnment, that makes them lose a fight or a match. They call for a new map or whatever to solve an internal problem.
They do not want to admit, that they could organize themselves better. The change had to be more on the side of players and less on gamedesign. Getting more involved in scouting, communication and coordination with the commander and the guildraids would be most effective for fun and success. For me, a bigger map is not a better map and small was beautiful.
But what can ArenaNet do? They can’t change the ability of players to improve their skill and organization. They can’t act for lazy pugs.
ArenaNet just can set up the rules and put the ball on the field but to play a good style is the job of the players. Plenty of players deny to get ready for a good fight in TS and with all skill, movement and engagement – you can asc experienced commanders about this fact. As ArenaNet can’t set up the skill of players they invested much time in map-design instead and the result is really impressing. Those who like the maps are not necessarily those who have to command and organize the raid as well as holding structures over time.
Nevertheless I prefer to play chess on a simple 8 × 8 one plane field – others may get thrilled by a 1000 × 1000 labyrinthic 3D field with countless floors.

Do I like to play chess on a 3D-board with 1000 × 1000 × 10 squares? I don’t think so. These maps are optical beautiful designed. But the changes on the wvw-maps got far from what I prefer as a strategical gameplay. Bigger not equals better and there is a speech “small is beautiful”. I remember the small areas of Heroes Ascent or GvG from Guild Wars I to enable nice pvp fights. Area and amount of players in a certain balance. So there will be limit of mapsize that is better not to be passed and I dont like to play hide and seek most of the time.

Many WvW players like me don’t care that much for PvE, Outfit and masses of rewards for nothing – but we need proper working structures, maps and groupings.

Did you mention TS / VoIP? It seems you were not in TS and just mapchat?
So I can say there is no way to motivate a commander when people try to force him to lead in map chat and leave him alone in Team Speak. Better not to lead than to lead a chaos raid with people running around like blind confused chickens.
Commanding with map chat is not possible except if there is just NPC on map and no open field fights. Advanced Commanding needs fast reaction of all players around within under a second, needs people that act as fast as ordered: refreshing, veil, push, damage, cc, and needs the required skills in the right time.
But when you see that some people just wait on downstates to put on their personal finisher or run as a long snake behind and spread out scared and die too fast … there would be no gold to hold a commander for going on like that. Who wants to command a bunch of anxious chickens to kill a horde of foxes?
Commanding and following People must fit together somehow. And if this is not possible he should tag off. I think its not the question to do something about the motivation of the commander – its much more a question of changing the unmotivated / lazy / stupid behaviour of players around.

If it is true , what tells us Troma.3250 , we have to congratulate. Especially if it is a democratic organization and no military dictatorship of the powerful?
How do you deal with players or guilds that do not obey or do not want to learn from experienced players. How to deal with laziness or selfishness … do you have a tight, strict organization with sanctions?
On many German servers it seems that good and successful commanders and players retire after a while. Once success is there on a WvW-Server, then comes a lot of unsuspecting audience and wants rewards without having to get involved. Even some strong guilds sometimes do not want to cooperate, maybe because they don’t like to be exploited by leechers. Some of these guilds say that the score for the server is meaningless. They just want good battles and don’t cooperate with public-commanders.
On the other hand some succeeding commanders got masses of people (many from PvE-areas) for hours doing karmatrain-events over night – but this can frustrate ‘serious’ players while possessions and defense get lost. While karmatrain, people could get used to reduced quality and they refuse ambitious tactics later.
As commander many wishes remain unanswered by players then. Boredom and lack of enthusiasm spreads out like a contagious disease. There is little commitment and willingness for special services , no answers to questions. It is as if one would have to start from beginning every week. Knowledge and skills on tactics fall back and remain at a low level, lower than one year ago.
I think that a large part of the German players is not (yet?) willing to submit to a tough strategic organization. (Because they hate to do 15 minutes ‘work’ for others?) Many do what they want and say they play for their fun and not for the server. So: Our ‘real enemy’ is not Vizunah or another good WvW-Server – but it’s egoism and arrogance. It’s lack of communication, cooperation, faith and community. It seems that we don’t have the critical mass of reasonable adult people for that strong united organization. But you on Vizunah may have solved it – especially with Troma as a skillful mediator – and have overridden that stadium, congratulation.

Thieves? Since I’m not skilled and practiced for 1 on 1 in WvW, best you can do is run away from thieves. Because invisibility of the thieves is nothing else but escape and flee himself. Ever seen two thieves fighting with each other? I don’t remember that but kitten happens. As a supporter for teamplay, it’s not my job to stay alone and wait for a hero-thieve until he gets his daily duty kills completed.

At the moment, i wonder if Miller’s can pass Gandara until Friday but I’m not shure if they really want to. There seem to be some GvG Guilds that don’t care much about Income and Score.

While following his updated contributions there, you get an impression about the constraints, relations and conditions that exist. My hope is, that those players with expensive hardware don’t have advantage over those who reach the minimum requirements of this game.

To me it would be fine, if ascended items have this additional infusion slot – which only counts and is only useful in the upper level fractals.
But outside of fractals, ascended items should have not more than the same max. stats as exotics and legendendaries have now.
Since i am missing a craftable exotic backpack, it would be nice to have that soon. It could be crafted by Artificer or whatever.
(There is a difference between complaints and critical accompanied promotion. But if construcive proposals get no attention, maybe some trouble does it better? ArenaNet has several controllers to get and keep longtime fun into this game. And in GW1 they did some good job. For GW2 I have some ideas, but who would listen to me seriously?)

I’m sorry I don’t want to talk much about how easy fractals really are. And it’s me who laughs first about stumblin myself several times into the same dark trap. But advanced and determined players would hate me for my strange comments in TS3. Let me try that maybe some months later but plase understand that I don’t want to be excluded from maxed items now, outside of fractals.
I just want to say: go and get your maxed equip where ever you want in this huge various game … and in a forseable time.

Let it be additional 2 gold for the next step. Or to prevent another of your questions: give it 4 gold. Where is the problem to max that step in craftmanship?
But you (and me) are wrong with that estimation – as Pirlipat tells us right. 15 pices of T5 mats are rare and not that cheap when you have to craft 10 of them. The last step on craftmanship was not as easy and took relatively longer than the steps before.
So I wish not more than a linear development equivalent to the Ascended attribs, e.g. 8 mats instead of 5 of T6 Material.
But I’m still wondering why this vertical development was necessary after a few months because it indicates an ugly gear treadmill that I would avoid in my favourite game.
It would be interesting to have a look on internal statistics of this online game. But this will be one of the best guarded secrets of ArenaNet. Sale figures are just a small part of it but important for the producer. As players we want to see more …
Maybe join a big guild and look what people do, in which area they act or if the’re even online. Compared to GW1 there are many differences and reasons for the behaviour of players that can’t be explained shortly. Finally it’s also your own job to get guild members or randoms into your team and start some adventure with … maybe have a look on World vs World where is allways a need for heroes.
(I myself am offline at the moment and waiting until i get access to ascended items outside of fractals.)

In my opinion, maxed craftmanship and maxed attribs of a character have to be consistent.
It should be understood as logical that a maxed jeweler can produce items that have the maxiumum attrib (e.g. power) that exists in that game. Otherwise a 400jeweler is not a professin but a shame. Why should i work that much for that business, when it’s better to save the time for getting ascended things earlyer?
And why selling selfmade items, when the price you get for those green and golden items is lower than to buy some loot instead?

Why should I shrug and leave this game in silence as many of others do? Do you still want to keep up that inconsistence that I and many others are talking about – after ArenaNet has fixed it in the future? Would you hinder them or be sad about? I stuck with those here who are arguing with me and I am nearly shure that many of game-employees share our concerns privily. Especially those who dont have time to do these fractal things above level 10.

Thank you for your nice statement. I share your thinking about reaching out for these Legendaries, and for those players I preserve my respect. Not for those who still want to have better attribs than casual players. It’s the longterm adventure of that big game and maybe there is a Legendary waiting for me some day on that walk if I see a reason to continue it.

You seem to be a very young and unexperienced player, since you failed to realize that anyone got the Champions of Gods title in GW1 for free. But maybe you have time left to look there – at the Hall of Monuments page – and put in the my name and you have learned something for your life.
A wrong presumption on the background of the opponent discutant was sometimes the worst of argument in a debate. Please don’t snub those players, that bought, loved and played GW1 year by year and well know about a fair concept.
The indifferent thinking of your own Guild-Master can’t be the scale of the entire GW-community. But it can be a hint why you still belong to that guild.

ArenaNet (and you) has to realize that there is an inequity in concept, that can’t be called ‘insignificant’. And it is 7 Weeks ago since we wait on an appropriate fixing, even if you vote for not to fix it.

I advise strictly against a new (vertical) tier of attribs/stats on equipment within less than a year. But Ascended can’t be stopped, i think. And if they continue, it would be better to get the needed stuff within a forseeable time by casual players. Why should casual players that spend some hours a weak be excluded from max. attrib equip? I don’t talk about rare skins, i just talk about maxed attribs.
After the vague explanation of Chris Whiteside (no concrete timeline) and the fact that more than seven weeks passed by without compensation, I have reason to doubt the development of this game to something that I want to spend time and money for.
It still looks for me more like Fraktal-Wars or 7/24-Wars, but I want some Come-Together-Wars to play with a various people Guild.

It’s amazing, that just WoW seems to have a better, a fair balance between casual players and hardcore ones in matters of attribs of equip.
Is there an alternative for me, since GW broke their popular concept by introducing better stats on Ascendet Items? To feel excluded from max. stats while not playing fractals is one thing, but to have an alternative in a game that fits good to what I understand as ‘play together’ sounds interesting.
ArenaNet, I dont know who consulted you maintaining the mentioned cause for splitting our gw2 community. Give Exotic, Ascended and Legendary same max. attribs or give crafters the possibility to build the same stats without spending eternal time to finish.

Some players may state, it would be appropriate to go into a chess game while one of them has 1 figure less on his board. Even if its ridiculous he won’t realize that kind of inequity. Maybe the whole chess-society would be whining about that stupid stylistic inconsistency in a chess game but not those who contradict my arguing. Is it pretentious that i want to go into WvW with maxed items, stats of Ascended included? This after many weeks of crafting and collecting? Did I claim for rare skins – no, I just want attribs maxed for WvW-battle as fraktal-lovers can do. Is that such misunderstandable?
Some of you may think it’s not only suitable that rich people have big and expensive cars. No, they claim to have more rights in traffic, let’s say they want the generall allowance to drive about 3 % faster than others. Oh, its not that much to mention it, they state. Or just even because these drivers spend more time on some special kind of roads than others. Do you really think that would be a minor or insignificant topic in society and press?
A good note in driving license would not be sufficient – you additionally must be a long time driver on special roads to get the permission and access to maxed rights in traffic?
And that’s why I think it was a mistake in our game and I am justified to feel excluded. May fractal-players be happy to have that advantage in WvW. I don’t like to be their target any more until I get access to the same prerequisite Items. And I tell you a good game is really interested to have a kind of compensation between experienced players and those wo can only play some hours a weak. There must be no difference in attribs when a character is maxed. within some industrious weaks and outside of fractals.

Let it be my decision, where I spend my time in that game and where i work out for a maxed weapon/ring/backpart/armor. And if you think, there can only be one way to reach a max. stats item like the Ascended one, then you’re narrowing a really big various game into a one-way-toilet.
Is it only a jump-and-run of the 90ies?
I thought this is a Guild-oriented Game where different types of players can come together whearing items with similar attribs. And this after a forseeable time that can be accepted by people that aditionally have to do their job somewhere else.

If it’s true that “Legendary weapons will be better than ascended weapons which will be better than exotics” im out of that game. Because after these
diversified months of maxing my craftmanship (all on 400) I want to be able to craft max. items. Extravagant Legendaries would waste my limited time, im not a 7/24.
After these weeks of developing craftmanship I look foreward to play lovely with max. weapons, max. equip. I don’t have time to do that hard job for reaching these Legendaries, but I dont want to be excluded from max. Stats. I dont want to run breathless behind that item-progression the whole game. Who knows how this will continue?
I want to play from now on a long time with my maxed items. And if ArenaNet doesn’t care about players like me, I am shure I will find an alternative. Some may not even start to play GW2 if they realize this fracture in concept.

You would honestly tell us here its hard to run through Fractals, if you would have me as a teammate … listening to my comments in TS3 ;-) Let’s say from time to time i try that frac. Now i got lvl (3) – but i really don’t see why I’m forced to in view of these ascended items. That game is big and I really prefer to spend time at other aspects to get max. Stats.
And that Backpack is really hard to work for. That’s amazing and annoying. Did I choose the right game? Look, im no 7/24 Player and have to do other jobs and earn some moey.
I just want to max. all Equip within some months and then have fun with playing WvW and many nice PvE Areas, maybe look for some nice Skins. Why does ArenaNet think they have to keep me in game while not allowing me to craft max stats items? They want me to work permanently and hard for it? Is ist a colourful manifold game or a stupid grinding-pot?
Im still offline and waiting for NEWS from ArenaNet when the problem ist fixed.

Players with legendary items are really upset about devaluing their hard work by these superior stats of ascended items – you may ask them, if you don’t believe. Even if its not worth a tiny difference – so dont bother me with that trivialization. The same way I am disappointed being forced to do fractals when i want to get maxed item, a ring e.g. ArenaNet has introduced that upgrade in attributes and that is a fact. Crude people may ignore these details but I’m alerted for these little ‘political’ differences. It could be understood as affront vs. confident faithful players. My crafting is maxed. so I want to produce a maxed item – not a legendary one – or is that too much demanding?
How about a ring with 10 % magic find (Ascended) while you only can craft one with 7 % (craftable)? What item would you like to take first? Item progression could be accepted if there would be different ways to get it within an appropriate time. I would like to spend some time to advanced crafting level for ascended crafting. But I don’t see any reason for sharing this fractals exclusively – the game is much bigger than this new instance.
I recommend to be more sensitive for the details. Why do you want Legendary weapons (and Exotic Weapons) to be a little bit lower in stats than Ascended? Why do you want item-progression from now on, did you vote for that?

Do I need Soldier stats? No, that is not the point. As a maxed jeweler i just want beeing able to craft max. stats equip. It is a mastered pofession. Not more and not less.
Show me a ring outside of fractals that has +103 power. And maybe think about that: “Do some research before claiming such things.”
All your linked Items are lower than ascended items. But dont rage that game now, as i did – we all hope the fix comes soon. ArenaNet is engaged – i heared. Except the hardcore-fractal players. They would loose their tiny little progress and I don’t know how ArenaNet can stand their … irritation.

So we loved to spend some patience until GW2 came out. We loved to enter this nice game day by day and spent time to max our crafting, being able after many weeks to reach maxed equipment to be master of that skill . Being able to develop many new areas and colourful aspects of that game – dungeons included. I know what food and what potion could be the best to go into that WvW area best prepared.
But now, being excluded by this strange new fractal-equip-content, I would like to stop that game and wait for the patch / fixing. It will come somehow … (?) … later. I should wait for the date when all players get acess to these ascended maxed stuff by different ways – other than only fractals.
Another time of patience is required because of some strange impatient people that must give a little surplus to a certain, maybe inpatient group of players.

I want to create a ring that has maximum attributes/stats without being forced to do these fractals. That means exotic for me, since i have spend much time to finish all crafting disciplines on maximum. Appearance / skin does not matter at first.
But now I see that for example the ring “Royal Signet of Doric” comes with total power of +103 with +68 toughness and +68 vitality. As a 400 leveled jeweler, I can not build any ring with similar stats to my astonishment. And to my disappointment. Reaching ‘Master-Level’ as the championship in that profession and no allowance to even create a ring with maximum effect? Is that appropriate to a trusting client?
I would be pretty upset when I need do do these fractals many times to get – for example – into World vs World beeing able to play there with maximum equipment. Nothing else but fractals?
Does anyone know anything about this? In my view, also for casual gamers who suffer from a ‘fractals-allergy’ should it be possible to get somehow that max stats equipment. That game is nice and big – but why do I only have to go into fractals to be on max equipment?
It seems to be a strange change of philosophy on Guild Wars – that i can not understand. Do I really have do get offline and wait until that is fixed and is there a certain date to get more equity at this important aspect?

I miss these “Updated World Ratings (Nov. 9)” – and I miss them not as picture – more as ASCII-Text for easyer copying?
The system of EU/US-Matches does not take into account the time when these maps are crowded by players and when not. (By the way, I am shure, ArenaNet will not give us statistics about.) So it can happen that a powerful WvW-WorldServer (A) fills the four maps only for 8 hours, not meeting much enemies and winning all fights. These players go to sleep and to work then. While this time, a badly playing WvW-Worldserver (B) owns for 16 hours with a small crowd all areas. You know, the development of potential points can show this. But the final result of points does not tell us anything about the quality and success of players on their wvw-servers. Server (B) gets qualified on top. Will it be possible to get similar qualified wvw-servers where people play approximately at the same time together in one match? At the moment this is more accidently than thoughtful.
