Against De-promoting 'Holy Trinity'

Doesn’t matter holy trinity or not but classes should be able to give each other big fat buffs. I mean really big fat buffs, not might/swiftness stack crap whatsoever. If the don’t – teamplay just doesn’t work. It doesn’t work at all atm btw.

Lack of challenge and competition. Well, it was born dead since there isn’t any atm.

“This game is competitive enough”

Other Progression Ideas?

You cannot just implement real competitive PVE/PVP in casual player base targeted game. There will be thousands of casuals who would want to be on par with non-casual players. And in case the will be able to – it will be definitely NOT competitive. Aside from that there are a lot well implemented ideas of progression without treadmill in other MMO games.

Ok, i’m gonna tell you another story. About 1 year ago there were totally new official server of pretty popular old K-MMO project with new big expansion. Me and some other guys (~1% of server population) were acting pretty much like “content-locust” (i found that comparison highly insulting btw).

You know what did happened next? Non of us had gone to the forums to whine. We had started to explore the new game content and to find the ways to compete each other and other players who started to reach end-game content at that time. But those who positioned themselves as a casual players had indeed gone to the forums and started to whine about how hard that game is, how they would never rich competitive level, and so on.

Administration of that project had listened to that whine and makes progression like 3x times easier and top items available in cash shop. Every freaking casual was able to reach end-game content and get pretty much best gear. And you know what happened next? They have reached level/gear cap and left. Just left.

They were not there to compete, which that MMO is all about, they were there
just to reach cap and leave. Like 30% of server population, not just 1%. And they friends and guild mates have left soon after as an avalanche effect. The project died although it had very good start and perspectives.

And now the main question, who do you think is more dangerous to be listened “locusts” or those casual scrabs?

This tread is kitten and that article is just a lame excuse from game developers for not being able to deliver AAA content. Everyone have right to play the game the way they want to. The fact that someone doesn’t like to play the game the way some game dev wants it to be played doesn’t make him/her bad person. He/she just had some expectations about that game that don’t come true, that’s it.

GW2 vs. Simplicity & Functionality

Now, your point that within W v W melee is worthless, is simply not the case. While Glass Cannon type melee will often melt against large groups, specialized melee builds can literally destroy players while being able to withstand a great amount of players

Example of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBJ3lUCB5I0

Within the video, especially the 2nd half, a small group of players literally crushing large zergs with relative ease. It showcases that despite numbers, good tactics and coordination can go far.

I’ve nearly felt asleep while watching this video although it has pretty good gameplay. It never happens to me while i’ve seen good videos from GOOD MMO. Don’t you see any problem here?

i like OP point. GW2 combat system just boring. I lack the feeling of doing something cool when i’m fighting. What are all those skills that gives you like 30% damage reduction or either 30% damage bonus for like 5 seconds with 1 minute cool down? I want 90% reduction or over 9000% damage bonus. I want that cool feeling when i’m killing someone with my ultimate cool skill or dodging someone’s ultimate skill not just rolling around like wounded raccoon pressing my boring 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0 skills on they huge cooldowns.

Why do you not WvW?

There are many reasons why i don’t like WvWvW:
First or all is social part: i have no idea who i’m playing with and who i’m playng against.
I mean in any other MMO projects people are applying to join any guild and in case they are slackers or just plain kitten they could be kicked but you can’t kick people from server, you know. And fighting vs some random sprites without even names on them and being just random sprite for them is no fun either. I’d rather enjoy fights like 3 50-60 ppl guld ally vs another 3 50-60 ppl guild ally for some resources or just ladder position.

Second thing is 24/7 WvWvW format. What do i suppose to do if i’m going to play to win? Playing 18 hours/day straight starting form late night to early evening? WTF is that? Is it super hardcore?I highly doubt it, since it’s casual game, looks like just flawed by design. Not to mention i’ll fight against undefended keep doors in that case most of time. How fun is that? How fun is to know that whatever good you are the result is mostly going from night capers and you are just unimportant? I’d rather play 2-3 hours mass pvp events 2-3 times a week, at least that makes some sense.

Third thing is flawed game mechanics. I don’t see any class interaction whatsoever. Buffs in this game that work like group of people sticking together once a while and starting to spam skills under they feet altogether seems just wrong, stupid and glitchy. I want to get real big fat buffs for my class from other classes and be able to give big fat buffs for other classes. That is what pvp is about in successful pvp games. And kitten that targeting system, seriously.

The forth thing is performance. This game has minimal settings. My PC is way above those settings but i still suffer fps drop and sprite loading delays. Its kinda unplayable quite often. IDK, i think there should be some minimal settings to make this game playable even for WvWvW zerg fights, i don’t really care if it would look like minecraft, but it should be playable kitten

Yeah, i’ve found that this game is not for me quite a long ago and now i only lurks on forums once a while hoping for any good updates to come. I just like this topic somehow so i decided to place my QQ here. Peace.
