You can say this about any class and their specializations. You use the base when you don’t have the other stuff unlocked, after that it becomes situational.

Keep in mind you have the ability to choose what stats you’re grinding for on that ascended gear. It sucks but you have the choice. The legendaries only had one set to choose from before the update came out. Didn’t stop me from making one but I wish I had the option like ascended.

I hope they don’t add the ability. Those that spent more money and time for that feature will be getting the short end of the stick.

I’ve been experiencing the same problem. Spent a bunch of gold getting a full set of trinkets and get no benifet from any of them. I guess I’ll just save it all for when it gets fixed.
