Well, the server actually isn’t imploding.. at all, but I’m glad you find Sea of Sorrows so important that you wrote an entire article dedicated to us! I’m flattered.
Epic defense at Cliffside in SoR borderlands tonight, SoS. Was good times. Kudos to Daish for sticking it out.
I never really bothered to worry much about Trahearne.. until this evening.
After having just killed the Mouth of Zhaitan, the typical cut-scene pops up and we’re all celebrating cutting off the dragon’s food supply. Then, the words that came out of my own character’s mouth went something like this:
“Trahearne is killing Zhaitan, one step at a time.” – Uh. Mind repeating that? I don’t think I heard myself correctly.
I’m pretty sure I was the one who killed the minion, and everything else leading up to this point – not Trahearne. Well, I did have some help from a pair of Charr npcs and a Human or two. Trahearne wasn’t even there!
Now I wouldn’t mind if Trahearne was turned into a DE Risen boss in the Halloween content patch so I can kill him for stealing my glory, and story! Sorry if this offends anyone, but sheesh.

There are far less Oceanics than NA players.. there are simply not enough of us to go around. We shouldn’t have to sacrifice our enjoyment of the game so that others can benefit. I just don’t get it sometimes – we are either the game’s hottest commodity, or we are kitten dirty nightcappers. It’s impossible to please everyone.
Pretty much what TurtleMuncher said.
Not very much fun trying to do dungeons or DE’s by yourself. Not everyone on Sea of Sorrows actively WvWs.
Edit: just saw your reply. If we’re using that logic, why do NA players stick together? We enjoy playing together instead of hanging out in a ghost town while NA folks are asleep. Either way, we have a heap of NA people here now so it should be fairly rounded out population.

after last patch i have so slow loading screens!

Same. Using an SSD, since the patch my loading screen time has roughly tripled.
Edit: Seems to be affecting personal story cutscenes as well. Will be a blank background for about 10 seconds before the hero and NPC will show up and begin talking.

^ Yep.
Saw it coming.
Not a single care given this day.
See ya RUN.
Did the dev really say HL2 uses 75 fov as an excuse? There were so many people having issues with that game due to 75 fov it’s not even funny. The game allowed you to change fov tho, like all good games. 75 fov is for consoles, 90 for pc, these devs….
“FOV in GW2 is 75, which is the same as the default in Half Life and WoW. While I understand people’s desires [snip]
For a lot of us this is not simply a “desire”. We need a higher FoV because we are getting freaking sick so ART can “maintain it’s integrity”. I’m sorry if this comes off as rude but frankly, I’m sick of being told to deal with it. I paid the same amount of money as everyone else did, and I deserve to play this kitten game just like they do. Also, why is it that if I suddenly came across a bunch of money for 2 more monitors.. all of these problems would disappear because you get a higher FoV with eyefinity? I dropped over $2,000 on a new rig just for Guild Wars 2. I’m not made of money, ya know.
Would Anet like to donate 2 more monitors to me so I can play longer than 30 minutes without getting dizzy or nauseous? Talk about suffering for art’s sake. Why can’t you just introduce a slider and let those affected by low FoV determine if they mind taking a hit on some art quality vs. actually being able to play the game we paid for?
I am honestly ready to just get my money back.
I can attest to this. As of this patch, I can no longer see even my allies. Or NPCs. There weren’t even that many of us.. I’d say around 10. I just gave up after a little while.

Here’s hoping something is done about this.
Hey,
I’m on Fort Aspenwood here.
And yes, we are currently matched up.From my perspective, it is really disappointing to go to bed, being up 4k points on both SoS and Mag, and then waking up to see SoS at a 10k point lead. That is a 14k point swing, in the middle of the night.
It makes wanting to take objectives and upgrade them feel pointless.
So your offering of joining SoS sounds real tempting because I’m getting tired of being nightcapped. Sigh.
Really tired of copping grief for simply playing during our prime time. When we go to sleep, we have 2 servers taking back all our nodes. Instead of complaining, we try to find solutions to the problem, ie. try to recruit!
Tonight, we actually had some good fights, and we were fortunate to bust a Maguuma hacker attempting to steal our orb.. which we took back. I’m impressed with how our server has come together these past weeks. Some of the best coordination and teamwork I’ve witnessed so far. So to say that we just night capped you for our points is ridiculous. Remember, your server beat us last time.
On topic, we absolutely welcome the NA guilds that have already transferred here, and encourage the ones who are considering it to do so.

Whilst we are happy to have more NA players in the Union, we do not tolerate flame wars on forums, in game, or anywhere else. We hold ourselves in a professional manner, and engaging in drama wars is a quick way to get yourself removed.
As a leader and founder of SoSU, I have not heard a thing about you nor have accepted you into the Union yet. We would like to speak with you further, so please contact myself, Kelthos Doombringer or Marcus Harlion in game. Thank you.
You should be complaining because you should be getting matched up with other Oceanic heavy servers. It’s not just about nightcapping for the NA timezone, but about players playing against other players at the most suitable time. If you have a NA server facing an Oceanic server, then you have two forces constantly playing a game of phone-tag instead of playing the battlefield.
Technically yeah, it really is a game of phone tag. I never disagreed. Would I rather have both sides engaged in epic battle? Absolutely. It’s definitely more fun that way. Does going on the forums to complain help? Not really. It’s just complaining.
I’m confident Anet will sort things out. Until then, we’ll just keep truckin along.
My apologies for coming off as insulting – I am just absolutely sick of people suggesting that, during the time my spot in the world allows me to play, the things I do shouldn’t count as much towards overall score. Simply because of where I’m located on the globe. How is that fair towards us? If something like that were implemented, our server would absolutely be screwed. We’d never be able to be anything but last, because what we do matters less, and the US servers we face would have an even bigger advantage.
It’s insulting to me when people claim that essentially not living or playing during the US prime time is an exploit or a tactic(not implying you said it, but a fair few in this thread and elsewhere have). We are simply trying to enjoy the game, as you undoubtedly are. We did ask for our own servers. We did from the beginning. But, we’re playing the hand that we’ve been dealt.
I’m sorry you aren’t having a good time. I really am. But please try and think how things affect others sometimes.
The original post is trying to put forth the concept of fairness for all players. An admirable gesture, however, the current system just doesn’t reflect this.
I’ve played multiple servers in Europe and some in America and my experience is that the majority of match-ups were decided during the night when there was population disparity between servers. In the day, WvW was full for the most part, meaning that all sides were relatively equal.
The fact that match-ups are largely decided in the night means that each night time player is contributing more to the fight than a day time player. That is not fairness. That is not equality.
The point gain in the night time needs to be scaled down so that players from the day and night contribute the same amount.
The problem with this idea is it would by default put servers like Sea of Sorrows at an extreme disadvantage. You may as well just put us dead last.
So, since it’s night time for Oceanics then the US should also be slapped with the debuff. Then we’re all back to square one.
Stop thinking that there are no other time-zones. What you are suggesting is selfish and ignorant to the fact that Oceanics are forced to play against US. It’s not our fault that you guys go to sleep when it’s our prime time, and vice versa.
Living in another part of the world is not an exploit. It’s not a tactic. Stop claiming so.
Night capping tactics?
Our server is almost entirely comprised of Oceanic players. It just so happens our prime time is while the US is sleeping.
How do you think we feel when we wake up and all of our nodes are taken? We don’t lash out and complain about you guys.
If you think Oceanic players weren’t asking for our own servers from day one, you are sorely mistaken. It is what it is, and there’s nothing we can do about it.
If you were there long enough to “watch” them wait, you should have had plenty of time to call for reinforcements to come destroy SoS forces from behind.
As others have already said, it’s a viable strat.
Some acknowledgement would be nice.
I’d like to know how much longer I’m stuck playing this game with no less than 4 ibuprofen and a bin beside my desk in case I get sick.
I’m losing hope and patience.
I would kindly ask any Union members to please refrain from any further comments on this thread. It is counter-productive and only serving to exacerbate the issue.
Any further problems regarding this matter should be directed to myself(Brynna Swiftarrow) or Kelthos to be dealt with.
Thank you.
I’m also a moderator of SoSU. I can only echo what Kelthos has already stated. This situation is unfortunate, and I’d like to extend an olive branch to the members of FUN.
Bottom line is, we need everyone in this if we are going to make this work.
With all these threads, I’m beginning to wonder of we are being acknowledged.
Anet – with all due respect I think it is time one of your staff has addressed this issue.
I realise you have a lot going on, but I would think something that affects the physical well-being of your customers would be a pretty high priority.
Good lord. How immature are we?
This type of behavior is typical of a spoiled child who doesn’t get his way, so he acts out to get back at his parents. I’m sorry you’re butthurt because your exploit claim was shot down.
Grow up. This is a game. We all play to win, of course, but why people have to go to these lengths will never make sense to me. All you succeed in doing is bringing the community down to a horrible level. Of course, seeing some of the threads between the servers involved lately, that just may be what your guild is trying to do.
Get a mod in here to shut this down, there is nothing good to come of threads like this.
I will say one thing though: No matter how big you are, no matter how bamf you act, there is and always will be someone bigger and tougher than you. It might do you guys some good to look up the definition of humility.

I cannot stress how badly this needs changed. As it stands now, I can play for about 30 minutes before a massive headache sets in. If I push it too far, the nausea sets in.
I’ve tried everything I can think of to ease the strain. Manually changing my resolution. Turning off post processing (that helped slightly, but only a tiny bit).
I’m a long time pc gamer, never have I experienced something like this. I love this game, but I am getting physically sick trying to play it.
I know Arenanet has a lot on their plate currently, so I apologize for sounding whiney. I just want to be able to play this great game you all have made! I’ve been following posts like these since before release and I’m a little disappointed with the lack of any acknowledgement of this issue. Surely something can be done to help this? I don’t want to have to quit because a game makes me feel like death.
