Raid Bug Corrected

I just sent in a ticket but then I read something on here, which made me curious. At least two of my team mates didn’t get compensated (me and another guy). We cleared all wings Wednesday 21st, and I believe there was a patch during our raid run which we chose NOT to patch, as we were already going well. Now, some of the people who cleared the raid earlier that week were compensated, but us who only cleared Wednesday (and didn’t receive loot from Matthias) haven’t gotten anything. Does it have anything to do with the fact that we didn’t patch?

No Fix for the Fertile Soil?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Buster.6137

After reset many of us should’ve been able to complete the Wayfarer’s Henge back item. But there was no fix provided for the Fertile Soils that still remain disabled. Any comment on this?

EDIT: I’m being told this has now been fixed after the patch. I am very grateful it was before reset!

I wasn’t referring to that achievement, I am specifically referring to the master star under the story panel.

Koda's Blessing required to get "master star"

Buster.6137

The Koda’s Blessing achievement is needed in order to get the master star under your story panel. Not only is it irrelevant to the story, it is not needed for the " ‘A Crack in the Ice’ Mastery" achievement. I ask that this be changed so it works like the Patron achievement from episode one. Optional, highly expensive achievements should not be a part of the story mastery!

People are also saying that their Illustrious got progressed if they didn’t achieve it last season, guessing they screwed up pretty nicely, and forgot to add it back in, so division crossing now gives you last season’s.

Makes sense that it progresses, it works the same way as the year of ascension achievements. So progressing divisions this season will progress the achievement unless anet deactivates it and puts it to historical

It doesn’t make sense though. The achievement is for making it to legendary in the current season, not crossing x amount of divisions regardless of seasons.

Charr and Asura female precursor armor

I am more wondering how the female variants of two of the sets are showing a lot of skin, while, yet again, the male variants cover everything up. Equality, please. We do not have enough male skimpy armor!

This marks the third or fourth (I think) armor set with HoT where you have missed the opportunity to make male skimpy armor, but have done so for female variants.

ArenaNet Overthinking it with these Names

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Buster.6137

Buster.6137

I think I have a few notes of importance.

First off, it’s important you understand that this is not the only time you get to expand your character with a new profession name. Just because you didn’t get the name you wanted this time around doesn’t mean you won’t get it later.

Here’s another aspect; the name needs to fit the elite specialization. You can’t judge Daredevil just yet, as we haven’t had enough information. For Dragon hunter you can ask yourself if for example Paragon (which I believe I’ve seen thrown around a few times) really fits the weapon type and the new skills.

I really enjoy how these names are truly unique and I think it makes a much better marketing strategy for Heart of Thorns. Throwing around name tropes when trying to advertise a new expansion may not be a good idea, especially since Heart of Thorns does not only give us one elite specialization per profession but introduces the whole system for the first time. The thing about these fantasy name tropes is that people already have a preconception about what they need to be. Either that be from GW1 or other MMOs.

Now I’m excited when it comes to Druid, since it seems that it’s a name you’d expect and it’s a fairly generic fantasy profession name.

All this said, it did take me a while to digest ‘Forge’. I think it’s simply because we feel very strongly about our main character professions and the progression they will get.

[Beta] Adventures - Feedback/Bugs Thread

I loved the difficulty of the adventures Tendril Torcher and Bugs in the Branches. Salvage Pit was a bit easier but I didn’t particularly mind. I like that they vary in difficulty. This is important to note; allow some to be easier in order for some to be harder. If all of them seem like an incredible challenge, then soon I will stop trying. However, if all of them are too easy the fun is lost. Balance is key!

Please do NOT make Tendril Torcher and Bugs in the Branches any easier. I spent hours trying to beat the other players (and hit top three in all of them, I believe) and I loved trying to figure out the fastest way or the best route. However, as I believe you have addressed, you need to standardize everything. Speed and skills. It is not a competition if it is about what class you bring and what food you have bought.
One thing I not only didn’t mind but also enjoyed was locking some adventures behind masteries. This was an excellent idea, and I really felt I had progressed when I got the ability to bounce on mushrooms, or fly around more masterfully. I hope to see more adventures with masteries tied into them.

As it is now, I’d like to play during the night. The current night version does not offer me enough interesting activities to force me away from doing adventures. Let me elaborate: to unlock certain adventures I need to further some event chains. Bugs in the Branches was unlocked in the middle of an event chain. This means I either have to abandon the story of the events in order to get enough time to do the adventures, or I have to wait for the end of the chain – but this leaves me significantly less time to indulge into the adventures. I know I sometimes have to sacrifice some things as I can’t be all places at once, but seeing that night isn’t keeping my attention, I’d much rather be able to do the full event chain and then go to the adventures.

If you asked me, I’d take all player skills away on entering an adventure. I’d strip them off speed modifiers (you could perhaps add a flat speed boost to make it more interesting). AND I’d make the player invulnerable to monster attacks while in the adventure. This way, monsters will not bother us during the night.

I agree with the other critiques and I’ll quickly run over them:
• Tell us why they aren’t available and what we can do to help unlock them
• Scrap, bugs and tendrils need to be more visible. Their names/tags seemed to disappear if I was too close, which was especially unhelpful when trying to figure out if I had torched a tendril or not

Oh and lastly, a small unintended feature. My friend was able to continue playing some adventures by never exiting the UI of the adventure. Even when the adventure was unavailable to the rest of us, he could continue playing like this.

2nd Season Feedback: The Good, The Bad etc.

Heart of the Mist

The bad: This is one of the main issues of this season, probably the worst. To be stuck in the Mist during a queue time (usually 6 min+) is a terrible experience, the map is basically useless, there is nothing interesting to do or you can’t join hot join, custom arenas or other game maps. People tend to go afk during the queue time for this reason, so when you have a queue pop, can happen very often people don’t accept. For Streamers too, it’s really bad, because basically for the majority of streaming you see people stuck on the Mist doing nothing.

I completely agree. HotM is a terribly unfinished zone and I learned to dislike it even more for every second I had to spend in there. Even for just AFKing it is very aesthetically unpleasing. I suggest a complete makeover. Give us more than just ruins. It is the mists; I want different islands I can stay on, activities, something to keep me busy, something beautiful. When we did not have to stay in HotM, I had a small place in Metrica where I would lie and sleep, while AFKing, because it was much more pleasant there.

Rewards

The good: a little better than the last season, Anet enlarged the rewards until top500 and they introduced a progression system on mini Llama.

The bad: In general, rewards are poors. There is always a Glorious Hero’s armor for top 25 and mini llama for top500. Progression system on mini llama is interesting but you need a crazy amount of llamas (27+) to get the final version and the effort to get a mini llama for 2 months season and only for few hours in a organized tournament like ESL or other stuff is not balanced.

I agree again. I was of course happy with my mini llama, and I treasure him very much, but that was not 2 months’ worth of work. Top 250 should’ve had 3 llamas to get to the next tier. The fact that you can participate in a small tournament for half an hour and win the same reward as I got after 2 months really gets to me.

I will say I enjoyed it though and I am happy you are learning. It was a fun experience but I have to stress this: I will personally not be participating in another ladder season again if these two issues are not addressed, somehow

"Favored to win"?

Just because their algorithm predicts that you would be favored does not mean you would actually be favored – it has very, very clear flaws when handling premades vs pugs, for instance.

At least in aggregate, we have a very strong, linear prediction gradient for accuracy. Which means our match prediction is pretty kitten good, but we could always make improvements.

Roster size (i.e. premade count) accounts for 25% of a match’s prediction. I do wonder if it should be more.

I think it should be more. Going up against a premade team is sometimes a death sentence before you even begin. Up that percentage

A couple of matches ago I was against a team I have to assume was premade. We lost 500 to 100~ (my memory fails me) and I lost a point. I have a really difficult time imagining how I was favored to win a match where we got absolutely killed. This happened again a few minutes ago, and I’m sure I’ll lose a point for it, too, and yet I do not believe I could be favored to win either of those matches.

“… we have also decided to make a change to the scoring matrix that will now cause players to lose ladder points in match-ups where they were favored to win and did not.”

So how does this work? Is this based on my team’s MMR counted together, or simply on my own?

Definitely keep making me feel my own character’s identity. I am Asura, engineer, killer of Zhaitan. The last many episodes have been especially good at making the story feel about me; not the generic character but the combination of choices that I made, which together make up my character.

Someone did a very good job of making Trahearne, though only present for a brief moment, seem to be doing something. This is the Trahearne I wanted: a real leader. His moments of doubts are over, we’re now all trained in battle, and I felt that the few minutes I spent with him really worked this time. Keep making Trahearne someone we can like for his strategic abilities, as long as we get the credit for the hard work.

Now to something I found odd. The first mission, The Ghosts of Fort Salma, felt too coincidental. I show up in time to save the Priory girl, just as Marjory and Kasmeer do the same. I find it odd because I feel like the point of season 2 of the Living World was to make the world seem bigger. Obviously this has been achieved through actually expanding the world but we cannot have characters just bumping into each other while walking a distance that covers half of our know world, specifically from the Grove to the Priory, which is where Kasmeer and Marjory was headed. Maybe we should have covered this distance together, came in through the same entrance – something.

But other than that, I am really pleased with how everything is turning out and I am an excited fan for this story!

I would go for Paleoentomologist (for study of insects) instead of Archaeologist which is the study of human.

Sure, but maybe that’s a bit too long?

Anywho, I’d actually really like a dev to take a look at this. I seem to remember them adding the title of “Wurm’s Bane” when people thought there should be a title for actually succeeding at the Wurm event

First, let me say; yes, I have this achievement (:“Ambrite Weapon Collection”) – so I am obviously wanting something here. I think this achievement is great! I did it even before the collections were added, because I was simply in love with the weapons and I spent a lot of time in Dry Top.

I also think that this is one of the harder achievements added with the collection achievements, that can’t be bought outright from the trading post. This makes it equal to that of “Dungeoneer”, which rewards the player with the same title.

I’ve also noticed that not many are going for this achievement, which I think is a shame. I was therefore thinking: could you make this achievement more desirable to get, by adding a title to it, so that you may show the extend of your love for the weapon set?

Just to get you started, here are a few suggestions:
“Archaeologist”
“Geologist”
“Gold Digger”
“Entomologist”

Have fun

Diminishing Returns on Clock Tower?

I must admit that this change has left me disappointed and angry, and here is why:

This year’s rewards are very expensive, almost to the point where they’re not worth getting. Mainly because the insane amounts of candy corn needed is almost impossible to acquire without buying them. I don’t think it makes any sense at all to remove a solid way of getting candy corn.
I will admit that I’m actually good at this jumping puzzle, however I suck at Lunatic inquisition, and I don’t enjoy the farm in the Labyrinth. So why take away incentive for doing the Clocktower? I guess A-net thought that adding empyrial fragments would make it more desirable to finish the JP, and they’re probably right for some people. Many people from my guild are now trying to get these daily fragments, but I’m left in the dark. The Clocktower was “my Halloween”.
