This is what Im hoping for, servers at the moment are stuck in their tiers whether they want to or not.
Having diversity is the spice of life, which is what I would like to see more often, right now you have a mix of noob fairweathers ap hunters, with veterans. if you can separate them so that vets fight vets noobs fight noobs, wouldnt it mean that those lower tiered servers get a chance to fight the higher tiered servers?
Population is always of concern, but you can have well populated servers with a low representation in wvw because the masses in that server arent interested in wvw, because why?
“Oh we came to try out wvw and got smashed over and over, It wasnt fun”
“I want to crush them for doing that to us!, wheres the support! help us!”
“Sick of these Fairweathers infesting our Queues, theyre only here to get karma, ap”
“I tell them over and over to get on TS/Raidcall/Vent they just dont listen”
“That guy is draining our keeps supply to repair the gate and wont stop no matter how much we tell him not to”
“Those A retentive jerks keep yelling at us to conform”
“Hey your guild should be more pro active in WvW we can use your help”
“That troll commander is confusing our sheep”
“What do I do here”
“Wheres the karma train at?”
“Hey guys we need siege built, guys?” “whats siege”
“Im sick and tired of players stopping to cap the F%$#!! vet guard!!”
“God we need more of our people to get in that knows wtf theyre doing!”
Im sure you have come across this, or similar type of thing, the wide variety of gamers who enter wvw come for their own reasons without consideration for anything else other than what they want out of it.
Players who wish that they had more reliable players who will do the necessary tasks, players who will listen and follow strategies, this isnt a guarantee that u will get players of x skill level doing whats required, because Im sure there are plenty of players who will do what they want regardless of skill/rank/wxp
I think that if you put more appealing rewards as well as achievements that really get you involved in the game rather than ticking off the list of whats the next AP to get, you might get more involvement and then maybe those who dont normally bother will get into it as well.
Then the incentives become secondary and u realize, dang! this is fun! (so long as it is fun and not repetitive task orientated spam that gives you know joy.
Some players will toil and suffer to get something that they find worth it, others wont.
1. Gem reward!
2. Unlock in your home instance a Armor display case
3. Unlock in your home instance A medal display case “For Valiant Service to <Enter Server Name here>”
1. A Statue of the Winning server Immortalized in a separate instanced map that all can enter to view.
2. A special Effect added to Armour that signifies your winning Season 1, perhaps a Gold hued Armor Silver hued colour etc
3. Unlock a new skins vendor for current wvw vendors.
You could be the mighty David vs Goliath, and topple them, whose to say you couldnt
Yea decline is inevitable, we have servers alredy under represented in wvw as it is, and having them split up into yet smaller groups would be a problem for them.
Can add other conditions to this by perhaps adding alliances with other servers that are under represented, Im not sure how that would end up working, perhaps add different maps from the main or limiting targets that can be taken based on the population that is currently playing, Im not sure, just brain popping rambling now :P
So did Season 1 cause ripples of discontent? the urge to be in the number 1 tier, soaking in the glory?
Well it sort of already happens now doesnt it? Gold league Silver League and Bronze.
This suggestion just mirrors an already existing system of play it only expands upon it to have grades of skill/rank lvls within the server itself.
You will have only your grade A class of veteran WvW fighting another servers Class A WvW team, if you want to substitute the A with Z you can its only a letter :P
It may appear elitist but this already happens in WvW as Ive said before, Im suggesting to go further. This way I hope, we would be able to play other servers not just the same Tx ones we currently do now.
Hoping some people might comment on this idea to see if its worthwhile posting on the forums or not, if not Ill delete this thread later if people are so inclined to answer, now Im not sure what the Q/A thing means so I didnt enable that but if I should for this I will later (thats If I still can)
Is it possible to have 2 lvls of WvW per server?
Like Amateur League Pro League?
Amateur League are Accounts with less than x WvW points or rank.
Pro is above.
This way you can have 2 wvw servers that can be populated for differing lvls of skill and ability in playing wvw.
So no matter which server you get it will be populated by only x skilled lvl of players
What do people think of that idea?
I can see a few issues, namely the number of players available and the less skilled wont have the experienced players knowledge or guidance when entering wvw, but u would all be in the same boat, while experienced players will have veterans who know what theyre doing and wont always have to tell people what to do because they would just do it.
People might get sick of seeing the same ole same ole, fresh eyes bring fresh insight, new talent that could help in pro lvl WvW could be prevented from entering Pro despite being a very good player or a good learning curve to become a great commander if taught by more experienced players?
I have often heard comments in LA “They should have a priority queue for veteran wvw regulars” so why not split it into groups which are considered veteran vs noob.
And maybe you would get pro players deliberately staying in the lower bracket for easier winning, I dont know, theres prolly alot of reasons to delete this suggestion.
Im not sure if this is even the right place to post it, but to me it seems appropriate because this is where wvw posters come to vent discuss, and share wvw themed things. No doubt this has already been suggested before, or perhaps worded differently, I dont know there are so many postings.
Karma Training can be good and bad
Cons – seeing the map an enemy colour just so your team can turn it back for the rewards, an endless chameleon of change.
Destructive to wvw incentives of keeping territory, not deliberately giving them up.
Pros – Gold Loot and Karma these make the world go around.
PvE content Annoyance
Cons – Distraction, little value, only obligatory reference to current living story content that has no relevance in WvW. PvE blobs getting wiped out by WvW zergs
Pros – introduces new players to wvw (karma train does this more effectively and for the wrong reasons), allows wvw vets to get the odd living story achievement, which they can get outside of WvW. WvW zergs crushing oversized blobs of PvE karma hunters.
Achievement hunters
Cons – arduous grind for some, PvErs forced to gain AP by spending hours doing content they never did before, just for the points. WvWs going for the chest reward which was mediocre at best, distracted players from productive gameplay in WvW.
Pros – your AP grew!
Group matching
Cons – unbalanced, you had some grps constantly steamrolled, other grps that had mostly difficult brackets while others had Easy mode.
Pros – Got to fight different teams that you never had the opportunity to fight before,
Open ground skirmishes between Zergs
Cons – Running away to let siege do the talking rather than your abilities of open zergs vs zerg battles
Pros – Some awesome battles wins and losses, feelings of highs and lows.
What did I learn, Season 1 Had its fun moments, long build up battles cut all too short, tempers flairing, grps despairing, cheering and re rallying, plenty of whining, winning losing, and stalemates, theres plenty that can be changed, adjusted.
I learned that players are passionate, confident, resolute. They demand from you what they expect of themselves, I learned to admire the Commanders who took on a mostly thankless role, to the support players who watch empty towers for enemy movements, to the scouts that spot something interesting while out roaming, I learned how frustrating wvw can be and how it must weigh heavily on players who come every day regardless of season rewards, slugging it out against enemy servers. Constantly teaching sharing information, giving other players boosts in confidence, and of course the opposite of the above as well.
I am by no means an avid wvw participant, I take it with a grain of salt, and dabble.
I claim no expertise but only an observation.
Now that season 1 wvw has ended, how goes the server pride situation, did season 1 enhance, destroy the server community, or was it a barely felt ripple, lets ignore the poor rewards from all that grinding for the achievements.
PvE zerging WvW content improve server populations for all time slots?
More servers to play against refresh your server pride when defeating higher tiered servers?
Broken unions/Guilds leaving.
Renewed vigor?
A wash?
Fail group matchings?
Stronger community?
Best fix would be just have everyone log into a random server – kill guild loyalty too so we can be in complete chaos – pure pug – not being loyal to any guild would make that very fun to ME!! Forget your guild – I don’t care about them – I just want to kill stuff – it fits my mercenary role play. Pure Chaos!!!
In wow you had this kind of system, they tweaked it later on but essentially it was like this. Instead of faction u would have colors, red blue green.
In wow I hated my faction when it came to pvp we sucked, it wasnt till you found an organized team that it sucked less, I didnt change factions because the pve content on that server and faction appealed to me more.
In wow pvp you have:
Twinks (over geared players with bis items best enchants etc)best cookie cutter builds for pvp, loved murdering the Casuals, nubs, afker/leechers, and loved the tears finding it delicious.
Casuals loved to whine, hated twinks hated leechers and thought themselves superior in knowledge to nubs and twinks.
Nubs were just confused and did dumb things, and werent sure who to hate, so hated everyone!
And that was from your own team. not the opponents.
I can see that happening in wvw if such a system as you suggest were to be implemented.
I say burn corpses you find.
Rocket jump vs portal, strafe jumping vs blink.
Rocket jump takes a bit of skill, so does strafe jumping.
I understand the need for scouts and to use mechanics of classes, mesmers have portals, so use it. wouldnt it be better to do so without diminishing a mesmers other useful traits and usually its the same people that volunteer to camp SM, or a new mesmer who gets trained to fill this role and wants to take one for the team so that flipping will be available.
Give more options so your not left waiting like your in an elevator for the door ding to open.
Not saying take it away, saying they should add alternatives. 2 mesmers from different servers were camping in the same spot and and for mutually beneficial reasons neither decided to attack the other, an unspoken truce.
The race for who can get the bulk of their server in before the other began. This happened because SM was continuously being flipped, no one bothered to sweep no one bothered to defend they just went on their zerg rotation from x spot to x spot till they ended back at SM again.
Meanwhile that mesmer was sitting next to that other mesmer twiddling their thumbs.
Im not saying take away the portal ability or how it functions in this game. Take away the need for it with alternatives.
So you want wvw to be like the pvp area except larger scale? No server pride or rallying, no team loyalty, just your own individual efforts to participate or not?
May end up cutting out alot of players that currently play wvw namely the crowd that dont enter pvp at all. Im not sure if the WvW gameplay was meant to exclude pvers.
WvW = PvPvE. World of Warcraft does what you suggested, except its random and organized grps that can join together with faction vs faction, or in this case, blue vs red vs green?
They arent porting through an intact wall theyre providing a ladder over it from the inside.
1. Add ladders to climb over walls for players to use to gain entry.
Not talking about any exploits, its a valid strat to have mesmers in an occupied tower, hiding and such to avoid detection so they can sneak players back in.
Im thinking of the mesmer in this, seriously how much fun is it to camp in an enemy base just to be a bus.
I have to say, I feel bad for mesmers in WvW, stuck in EB SM, waiting for it to get flipped again and again, stuck in SM waiting to port the masses back in.
This cant be fun.
How do we make this better?
Possible ideas.
1. Auto port out players not from the occupying server once its flipped, that includes the dead.
2. Add alternative methods of entering the keep, underground or an air assault. Example:
- Dredge create a tunneling machine to get you into towers and keeps etc.
- Hylek can form an underwater assault team that breaks you into towers near water.
- Build a Diessa plateau like Cow tosser that can punt you and your comrades into enemy territory.
3. Create Catacombs below Keeps that can be entered to destabilize and weaken the structure above.
I know portals is part of being a mesmer, but I think its kinda mean to keep one mesmer locked in a keep just to be a transport system, it promotes bad gameplay when you refuse to defend it, not that the achievement system is helping that.
Perhaps server pride or lack of server pride is the point of wvw from a dev standpoint. If you have no loyalty for your particular server, then you have no sense of belonging.
If you dont belong you dont care, hmm is this a good thing or a bad thing, or simply just is?
What are the pros and cons to this type of system if its intended?
When you look at things like the Olympics or world series, world cup events, their is a feeling of belonging to that particular country and wanting to support it, whether its by wearing a scarf, tshirt, flags, stickers etc, or going to those events to wear your team colors, that sense of pride you have when other people are representing your country, hearing your anthem being played your flag propped up higher than any other, can be a wonderful feeling.
If this type of support or fanbase isnt happening in a game, isnt it detrimental to the concept of wvw? as Silver stated "I do not see much point in a format like WvW without server pride. What exactly are you defending then? "
Of all the comments here I have yet to see one from those servers that actively buy paid transfers for the purpose of wvw or their own reasoning, nor have guilds who have been paid for speak up or justify their own decisions (not that they need to) for making the server swap. I am very curious about this, and perhaps it would enlighten myself and others.
It seems that individuals guilds or servers that purchase these other guilds have a deep desire to win for either themselves or their server. Isnt this then related to server pride in some form? that theyre willing to pay x gold for the services of another, to make sure that this gives coverage across all timezones?
Would server pride be justified in this instance? if it is for the benefit of an entire server?
I think server pride is great, you begin to recognize players or guilds that are actively representing your server, and the more theyre appreciated or supported in how you express your pride if you have any, may impact on players.
Cheer squads etc motivate and can bolster efforts, it doesnt have to be about individual or guild rewards but a general feeling of “We can do this for our server” type rallying.
It seems alot of people are Jaded, hold no desire for server support or pride, indifferent.
Want to solve the problem about stacked server and buying guild to win?
Do the following :
- You can’t transfer to a server ranked higher than yours
All population imbalance solved with a simple change.
The game will now be :
Play to win instead of pay to win.
Im not sure if that will solve the imbalance situation, but if everyone could buy and trade guilds easily without the stigma, it might become more acceptable or at least tolerable, once everyone does it.
Yet people feel so strongly that its wrong, even though in this game everything has a price to pay in monetary terms, I think the thought of buying and trading something that should take effort on the part of the individual servers should be one earned by those that stay to play there.
However people seem to accept players or guilds moving on their own vs being paid to move.
If guilds become available on the TP would servers and players who use the services be more accepting?
I dont think its fair to have reactive comments from the devs in this forum, it takes time to read everything and to formulate an idea or summary that adequately covers everything in this thread. How many of us have bothered to read all the comments in this giant thread?
Not only must the thread be viewed read and digested into ideas and constructions that give those ideas form in the minds of the devs. When posters say are u listening to my words devs I see no evidence of it? is based on what? from your perspective or the few who might share your perspective, or the most vocal? A small number can dictate the outcome for all the rest and this is only a small percentage of the gaming community of GW2 that actually decided to post on the forum, and in this particular section of that forum.
Time zone imbalances are difficult to regulate as are players that wish to play in wvw, I cant think of a single thing that will help improve that situation other that the servers affected going hard to promote their server, buy guilds for transfer or tailor the entry of wvw based on the side with the least number of players.
Offering other methods of wvw participation.
If queued to enter, perhaps along the lines of guild missions but with a wvw flavor added to it. This would allow higher participation when not actively in WvW,
Guild mission wvw Jumping puzzle
- Lore required for relevance
- Objectives to achieve for Server benefits outside in the general wvw zones.
for example : Lets take Borderlands jumping puzzle, these could be expanded as infiltration nodes to exploit weaknesses in towers and supply zones.
Breaking structure stability, causing a flood, sinkholes, blowing up bridges that provide access for supply to reach towers. weakening foundations of towers. these are random ideas only to stimulate a potential idea.
- Guild mission WvW Target Assassinate X commander tiers 1 through to 6
- Guild mission WvW Infiltrate Towers
- Guild mission WvW Defend Towers
These could be separate server from wvw main, but offer a place to still rumble with wvw objectives that still contribute to the server.
But what of the individual that wants to queue and cant get in? allow them to become recruits to the guild mission that can join along as well.
If you do care, your left with just a few options, work with those individuals attempting to do the jumping puzzle, calling for guild support, or going it alone, braving the player sharks that may or may not lurk inside.
I may have misunderstood this but I’d just like to say for the record; WvW is almost exclusively what I do in GW2, and I contribute my efforts 110%. The only time I’ve done the puzzles is to get them out of the way because I’m a completionist and like to 100% areas as soon as possible. Every time I’ve done, and any time I happen to in the future, I always do them alone. Because losing one player won’t kill the server especially considering I’m not commander material.
But if what you’ve said is positive and not negative, then yeah. If you’re going to do a jumping puzzle in WvW don’t try to bring a group with you. Do it on your own time and if you run in to a friendly so be it, if you run in to an enemy so be it. Get it done and get back to the fight.
Not a critique just an observation of PvE in PvP areas having impact on the wvw environment.
There is an undercurrent feeling that when against stacked timezones it is impossible to defeat unless buying guilds becomes a viable option.
Is it desperation that servers would opt for buying a guild to bolster their lack of skilled numbers?
Desperate acts can create a need to overwhelm a well supported server in wvw to give balance?
Perhaps its time to ask another question, on a different thread, I find it all interesting and curious.
:/
The JP’s aren’t considered part of W3 though. That’s one of the reasons they made them instanced in the first place.
You still have to enter wvw to do them, lets say a guild that has 30 players wanting to do the jumping puzzle but decided to wait for stragglers, and go roaming to kill a few champs while they wait, or invite players in wvw to join along if they want there jp daily done.
those 30 plus player unintentionally can be disruptive to population balance since theyre not their to specifically wvw.
I do enjoy the rival servers… the server pride speaches. I love the way each bitterly grudges, and speaks ill of eachother. it makes things special. to envelope oneself in it and fight harder…you been havoc teaming for 12 hours and your body is worn out… eyes getting heavy. you fight harder because your server is behind, and you refuse to die to this specific server. not now…not ever. lol…good times…good times
Speaking of rival servers, I also enjoy the feeling when we put our differences aside in the jumping puzzles. I’ve heard talk of people being trolled in jumping puzzles but I’ve never personally experienced it and I’ve completed all of them on 3 characters. And I’m TERRIBLE at jumping puzzles, laughably terrible, so there was plenty of time for people to interfere. But I’ve never once had someone kill or even try to kill me while I’ve been in one. They just jump by or near me as though I’m one of their own and I kind of like that temporary peace. It’s like “yeah… On the battlefield I’d love to kick your face… But we both hate this sh_t so let’s just get it done.”
This is interesting, and apparently a common complaint that jumping puzzles should not be in wvw, it lures the unwanted (PvE player? Achievement hunter? noob?) into the wvw environment taking up valuable slots for players who do actively wvw. Im not sure if the current jumping puzzles on all borderlands are now a separate instance and not considered part of wvw fighting population, but you do still need to enter WvW to get to the jumping puzzle.
I have seen Guilds enter wvw as a zerg just to do jumping puzzles. Protecting each other from unwanted attacks and seen some “None shall pass” Rivalry going on preventing players from doing the jumping puzzle, camping the zone in areas of each world making sure that players wont be able to do it today, and if they tried to make a break for it, they get swamped. Some friendly and not so friendly competitive battles, a see saw struggle to keep the others out. But as you have said co operation takes place as well.
Its interesting that if you were to call out in the wvw borderlands and EB asking for people to come do the jumping puzzle you may get some negative responses. When in a WvW environment is it fair to pull players away from their role inside by asking for help? the answer is no its not, but does it impact on the other players who suddenly see half there squad disappear to go do that jumping puzzle, making defending or attacking impossible till numbers are resupplied and re organized?
If you dont care about the wvw environment and the server vs server or server pride, then it wouldnt matter to you the impact your innocent query has had. If you do care, your left with just a few options, work with those individuals attempting to do the jumping puzzle, calling for guild support, or going it alone, braving the player sharks that may or may not lurk inside.
Server pride went out the window when they left transfers open for so long, plus WvW is a system that rewards stacking to T1. How do you have pride when most of your server is from other servers and most of them will transfer off the moment the wind shifts.
So if server pride is bought it is of less value? when you see sports teams stacked with international or non local players vs local recruits it leaves a bad taste?
But is server pride about always winning? When you see fans who support their favorite team, despite the fact they have never won, or havent won anything in x length of time, it seems pointless to keep supporting them, yet people do, so why do they? The guild is after all a community that belongs to a greater community.

Guilds can accept or decline membership. Can control their members with their rules and regulations or kick as needed. It has been mentioned that Hardcore WvW do it for their guild not the server, I found that was an interesting comment.
Guilds can do many things depending on their structure and leadership, and willingness of its members. If it falls apart it is on that guild not server.
Guilds who contribute in wvw get recognized for their efforts, their success is their to see, losses vs wins.
As for players seeking better fortune and rewards, another server that is successful in getting them to those heights of greatness, are more appealing, depending on what they value. Displacement of regular players can happen causing distress, a victim of their servers popularity.
If your Server is valued, and more popular, does that make the server valuable? or just the guilds that have helped it become so?
(edited by Cachu.9067)
In the time of bandwagons, server pride is kinda stupid. If you think, your server is soooo kitten op – just wait until the big guilds leave (again), ’cause they are fed up with waiting hours caused by (mostly) their effort in PvE/WvW that leads to tons of WTJ players.
So server pride = lol.
This is interesting, why play on a server if it is losing? why not transfer, that way you can have the “our server is the best” server pride chant.
Yet players stay and play the servers theyre on, some only leaving to the highest bidder, others wanting to make a name for themselves in a lower tier. Server is irrelevant? then why have server vs server? and not simply guild vs guild? as the game title implies.
Just a small note about some hypocrites posts that can be read here or there.
When we finally decided that we wanted to transfer to an US server (from an EU one), we contacted all top 5 US server at this time.
All 5 were okay to “help” us paying the transfer fees. All 5. No exception. And it seems that the only reason why others didn’t make this proposition is that we didn’t contact them.
So when I see (for example) someone from SoR stating that their server has pride and will never do so… /facepalm.
Thats very interesting, we have confirmation that guilds are offering themselves up for auction, a gem value of x per guild member transferred.
Does this make them objects to be vied for on the TP? perhaps they would fragment their guild so that they could go to the bidder they prefer and co ordinate attacks accordingly, since they are guild mates.
Guild Trading section on TP
Mercenaries for Hire. It could happen?
Another form of Gold farming?
Would players consider selling themselves for services rendered much like current gold farmers do? Server WvW wins, Leveling your characters etc
I dont think there is any comparison with Gold sellers and Players who sell themselves, I think its different, however some may see some similarities? or not.
Server pride is something that any hardcore WvWers could not careless. I would prefer a distinction between PvE and WvW servers, resulting more room to balance sides.
Thats interesting, because I have seen several NA players staying up to help the OCX and SEA timezone players, but then Im not sure if theyre Hardcore or not.
Perhaps a sense of rivalry and support is at play for WvW, Guild identity, guild kudos? rather than server pride? interesting.
When deciding a Server, you may or may not have any particular reason to join, some server pride may find its way inside, and seeing competition between servers excite or bore you. Does server pride go hand in hand with wvw?
Do you care?
Doesnt matter?
Shrug?
I only pve – Only wvw for achievements, Only wvw for jp, Only wvw for Karma trains.
Hardcore wvw
Frustration
Only for the winners
Thanks for the buffs
Its fun
Its boring
I just wanna kill the other player!
Just some random thoughts, because if there is no server pride, then why do we have server vs server and not faction vs faction or tournament type situations where teams can be controlled and representative of servers based on win loss?
Why do players stay loyal and others dont? why do people bail when the going gets tough and others grind it out and rebuild. If you think about it, it would be much easier to be on the winning side all the time. So transferring to the “Top server” would be far more beneficial, than setting down roots with one that isnt a “Top server” everyone could be a winner if they all did that (dependent on server pop)
So to those who fight it out, why do you put so much effort for your server? those who dont care probably wouldnt be in this forum so I wont bother asking them a question :P but if you do happen to read this then it would be good to hear your views
(edited by Cachu.9067)
What do you claim is buying guilds? Is it paying for their transfers, either in part or wholly? Is that buying guilds?
Is buying guilds paying gold in excess of transfer to fees? or would it be buying guilds if you paid them 2 transfer fees for their entrance and exit from a server. and gold on top of that?
define buying guilds please.
I’ll do you one better, I’ll describe the situation.
SoR dominated BG through the first 3 days of its match up last week. Sunday night going into Monday morning Blackgate paid a Russian guild an extremely large sum of gold to transfer to their server just for the league. The guild has already stated that they have no intentions of staying on BG and are only be paid to help them win league. As SoR has no players in their particular time slot (9aPST/12pEST) the guild continues to flip all borderlands uncontested.
Now SoR players are quitting the game left and right. The league was viewed as the savior of WvW for a large section of the base but now that one server has gone to the extreme to literally ‘pay-to-win’ a lot of the player base has lost faith in leagues and ArenaNet.
Honestly, I don’t really feel sad for you on this part. SoR, JQ, and BG have gone months in their little bubble, not caring at all about the rest of the WvW community. Now, you guys are starting to feel what 21 other serves have been feeling for months. A lot of the players on JQ, SoR, and BG transferred there from the 21 other servers, and it hurt those servers.
IoJ got destroyed by the preseason transfers. Anvil Rock dropped like a rock during the summer, when no one even knew about transfers. Kaineng, DB, dropping like rocks as people transferred off.
Some of those guilds were bought. And, actively recruiting guilds, whether paying for them or not, is what YOUR SERVER, JQ, and BG have been doing for a while now.
Servers rise and fall in this game. SBI was once in your position, and we lost a lot of guilds in Jan. Now, where are a lot of those guilds and players now? On SoR, BG, and JQ.
You have hit a rough patch, and your server is falling apart. But, let me tell you, if you handle it correctly, you will be able to salvage it. If you keep acting this way, you will drop. People will transfer, and you will have to build back up your community.
Ultimately, you win and lose as a server. The community needs to come first. We have built up a good community on SBI, and after falling to FA, we came together, fixed our problems, and no one left. We didn’t implode, like deathtouch on maguuma kept predicting we would.
When teams are poached from other servers it does hurt the community. How resilient it is in overcoming the hit is what makes or breaks them. Does server loyalty matter if its paid for?
Mercenary situations arise when they cant provide soldiers to do what needs to be done. If the locals cant bring it, then why not bring outsiders that can? Is it really any less honorable or acceptable if mercenaries do for you what your own could not?
Does the Community that paid for the transfers. feel it was their own actual efforts that created the “Win” Gold can buy a lot of things, why not people?
If I were to offer a comparison, would it be like a team who had won the world cup for x sport 1 year and all moved to another country and won it for them the following year. This has happened in the Americas cup race, NZ held the America cup, then Russel Coutts who won it decided to go to Italy and win it for them, and again left Italy for America. If not loyal to his own country, he has shown loyalty to the money.
Is server pride based on monetary value less or even or more worth?
What do you claim is buying guilds? Is it paying for their transfers, either in part or wholly? Is that buying guilds?
Is buying guilds paying gold in excess of transfer to fees? or would it be buying guilds if you paid them 2 transfer fees for their entrance and exit from a server. and gold on top of that?
define buying guilds please.
Guilds paid for to play for your server, transfer fees, if the server buying gives them additional “gifts” I wouldnt know. Im referring to paying for the transfer of another guild by the server buying their services to play for their server
We have sports in real life that poach players all the time, its accepted practice, to the highest bidder goes the spoils.
Is WvW emulating this accepted behaviour? I wonder how many top tier servers are willing to do this just to be number one?
Does Server Loyalty mean anything, is there such a thing as community support when theyre outsourced players. If you win though does it matter?
Curious.
Buying guilds through paid transfer. Just wondering what people think about this?
All fair in love and war?
Gutted servers?
Displaced guilds?
Not what you were hoping for?
Just fine?
This isnt a poll just wondering how people feel about this kind of transaction
