GW2 Combat vs other MMORPG's

The only MMO that could beat GW2’s combat is Dragon Nest (SEA on my part)

Tera and Raiderz for example still rely on “lock on” systems, they just changed the cursor in to a crosshair.

New to the world of MMO's?

I’ll sum it up in two words:

Just play.

i just gotta say that Guild kittenin Wars 2 is one of the best games i have ever BOUGHT (i do not buy all of them)

i rarely spend money on my games. and probably Guild Wars 2 was my biggest buy in my gaming history including MMOs, console games, pc games, card board games, sports etc etc (I am that cheap).

and so far I am very VERY VERY satisfied with the outputs they give, its really woth all my money’s worth.

Kudos to Anet

It all boils down on how to keep things simple.

I just play GW2 like a traditional RPG.

Stay away from the maths, you’ll have more fun and satisfaction.

Sounds cheesy, but it really works. Fact is, most of us are trying so hard to become devs, completely forgetting the fact that we play games as gamers not as developers.

Constructive criticism doesn’t hurt, but errr… I don’t know how to say this… Just stop being whiny and you’ll do fine.

How is it, that games get this broken?

I can say a lot of things right now but I’ll try to keep it short.

Let’s go back to the basics children. Let us define what is an MMO

M – Massively
M – Multiplayer
O – Online

Emphasis on the two M’s.

All updates are based on the MAJORITY of the playerbase demand, it’s not about maths srsly, or about what build is potentially OP or not.

It all relies on what the players’ demand, if majority demands balance they will give balance, if the majority demands needs they will give needs.

There are other factors too. Factors like if the game is p2p or f2p or single purchase etc etc.

Tldr: the action of the devs just reflects what the majority desires. At the same end of the day only those with the developers perspective can truly decide what’s broken and what’s not.

Addressing game balance with a gamer’s perspective is like taking on the Pokemon elite 4 with a team of magikarps. Not impossible but very very very very very very VEEERY close to it.

Farming Can Be Fun

Just travel all over tyria. Killing stuff, helping people with champions and role playing as a kitten wandering knight/swordsman/pedo

I find it entertaining every once in a while, I’m kinda against the whole “farm at one spot idea” on gw2. It just doesnt feel right.

What would be awesome though is more random occurring contents that rewards world exploration.

But so far I am having tons of fun.

go try a warrior

i’m a newbie and after 5 days of hopping from class to class trying to see how they feel I ended up maining a warrior

it is pretty well rounded, a perfect class for casuals.
it doesn’t reward skilled gaming though, but it also doesn’t punish mistakes that much.

low risk low reward, but otherwise VERY well-rounded, the lack of high potential is completely overshadowed by ease of use.

I say don’t mind traits and such that much at this point in time. Just cruise through the game, too much math will take away all the fun. Everything will come together in the end.

GW1 skill system vs GW2 skill system

@vayne finally someone who also sees at least a noticeable part of the picture.

I’m just a new former so I don’t know this forest trees thing. But I totally understand your views.

Now let’s just leave this thread because I know that you know that everything we are talking about here is 99% pointless.

Perspective… It decides the people who will be stuck as mere gamers and those who will move onto the next level.

Good day young ones.

GW1 skill system vs GW2 skill system

A lot more prefer the current system.

That’s just it. The system is working fine at the moment and majority of the customers are satisfied with it.

GW1 skill system has a lot of freedom, But that doesnt mean its a good system.

what’s the use of 10,000,000,000,000 possible builds if the majority would only use 5 overpowered builds?

sure GW2 has some balancing issues atm and that it has way way way lesser build possibilities.

But fact is, the players’ are actually using almost all of these builds and there’s diversity can really be seen. It is also more accessible to the casual players.

add also the fact that Piloting Skills now has a bigger impact on your total gameplay.

I’d if you look at the whole picture. GW2 is way way way way way way WAAAAAY more balanced than GW1 in overall aspects.

Jax is the champion from League of Legends which is a weapons master

Baratheon is the surname of the Great House of Baratheon with the Stag as its sigil on the Game Of Thrones series.

Well considering the replies, I might stick with the guardian or a warrior now.

What would be the ideal weapon set for a WvW warrior? I already have my ideas for my guard so no problem with that.

Also a small background for thieves on PvE please?

7/10, pretty good, nice use of sanskrit and gaelic.

I made a Mesmer Sylvari named Night Rhapsody

Skin color Birch (silver white something) with the slicked back spiked hairstyle like Kazuya Mishima’s with Birch Color too

I’m gonna dye him ebony, gray and white, any mixture of those

hello guys, i just bought a copy 2 days ago and i really am having a blast.

I am having so much blast that up til now i can’t decide which character should I play.
I’m torn between a Guardian and a Mesmer.

I have a Guardian at 14 already, gotta say he is pretty much balanced but the problem is that i really do not like the looks of heavy armors.

now Mesmers caught my eyes, illusions looks awesome and the concept is so unique.

can anyone give me a comparison that is kinda noob friendly? hehe, sorry but i really am a big noob at GW2.

I’m looking towards Sword MH/OH + Staff Mesmer <- How effective is this at WvW and PVE?
