Why point system and not badges? Badges should be the way to purchase a WvW tag. Badges are WvW currency. Say 1000 badges. 1000 badges would not be hard to obtain, but getting 1000 badges would get you enough experience in WvW that should help you enough to be able to start commanding.

Also with dungeon commander tag. There is no need. That is what titles are for.

One question I’ve yet to receive an answer in threads about open world PvP…

How would events work?. I’m asking because basically the whole game is built around cooperation and dynamic events is a big backbone of the PvE experience, but considering how chaotic they are already when if there are enough people around, it’s hard enough to even see where the boss is, imagine if all your AoEs were also hitting other players (or you being hit by them), I don’t see any medium or higher size event being even “finishable” in those conditions, not to mention that, unlike other PvP games, there’s really no reason to actually fight other players other than “because they’re there”.. the look is shared among everyone that attacks a mob, the resource nodes are instanced, there are no factions and so on.

A fix for making events workable would be making pvp/pk mode something that you would turn on, making your name red or something like many other games utilize.

Having something like this does help co-operation aswell in my opinion. Big events you hardly talk to anyone, everyone just joins in and goes there seperate ways after the event is done. There is no co-operation other then a guy calling “troll up” in map chat. Say you turn on pvp mode and you get killed, you want to get him back but hes better – you need to make a friend and that will encourage you to talk to people.

It’s just fun to have that option to beable to pvp in open world. Thats why I said in my original post that it should be on a different server that only permits guesting. That way the people that dont want it dont have to go there. There are many other games that have PVP servers for open world combat aswell as normal servers.

Sometimes is just nice to change your game a little from your usual grind and WvW/sPvP. An option like this may help greatly keeping people from getting bored and taking a break from GW2. I lost all my core people in my guild because they got bored of GW2 which ultimately killed my guild.

I think the idea is certainly worth looking into. Would people use it? For sure. So if people would use this feature and like it, would it not help with the popularity of the game?

I’m sure it wouldnt be for everyone, but WvW isnt for everyone either. GW2 is all about options.

My idea is that you guys can make a server that only permits guesting. With the current scaling system being pretty decent I dont think it would pose many issues with fair play.

Okay so what I’m proposing is a PK server. Where its just a PVE server but you can also battle your fellow players in the normal world. It’s fun having this option when playing other games but can lead to camping people and what not. That is why this server would only have guesting allowed and you can return to your home server anytime.

Discussion anyone?

I think it would be nice to have a forum for each server. So we can organize temple runs, talk about wvw in relation to your server, and just generally have more pride and camaraderi for your server.
I think it would promote the overall atmosphere of being friendly and at the same time have a sense of belonging and help with server rivalries.

I realize that there are many different forum categories already but, im sure im not the only one who likes the idea of having a server home on the forum.
Something to think about for you guys if you could make it work visually without cluttering the forum

Funny…since face-rolling through dozens of enemies midlessly is exactly how WvW, Dynamic Events, and Dungeons work in GW2.

Not at all. Have you even played a dungeon?
Picked up the fire and ran through the balls?
Maneuvered through traps?
Stood on countless buttons while other players worked to get the door open?
Done any FotM dungeon?
No dungeon in the game is only killing mobs. Theres always some sort of strategy involved. GW2 has done a great job of that.

There are still many things that they are building and implementing into the game so it will be more fun.

Try going to a keg brawl. Look around and you’ll see there are many other things yet to come.

Just have some patience.

Funny how people from both sides only react to what they can counter, check my previous post at the top and react, i dare you.

You can’t…

I’ll take that bet.

I don’t want “heal” “dps” “tank” and that’s it, i want my playstile to mean something and it does right now, people playing the same class can play it totally different and still do kind of simular things, it’s a personal system, instead of “if you want to dps, do this, it’s the way to go”

There are no roles in this game other than DPS. Your playstyle means nothing because it’s all the same role with different window dressing.

GW2 is about creativity and anticipation, wow is about execution.

The only way “creativity” can be used properly discussing GW2’s class build system is if you call it “creatively bankrupt.” DPS with some gimmick skills, that’s all you are. If you’re a class the devs don’t favor (ie: not a Warrior, Guardian, or Mesmer) then you’re even less than that.

So wow and GW2, wich one? it’s up to you, choose, but don’t try to make them the same game, they can be different, that’s why we have this choice in the first place. I don’t want wow to die and i don’t want GW2 to die, i want to be able to freely choose where to put my time in. If GW2 goes trinity it will die, cause that’s something wow has mastered, and then we won’t have the luxury of choice.

Everything we have to go by tells us that GW2 is already dyeing. Adding the trinity won’t magically kickstart it’s demise, rather it might save it by adding solid PVE design and challenging content therein. If you chose to stick with a sinking ship don’t complain when you drown after refusing to patch the hole in it’s side.

A trinity system is not challenging at all.
Sounds like alot of you people are just whining because this game is too challenging for you without the trinity system that everyone has become accustomed to.

As a thief, I like the role that i play. I’m a glass cannon type, I typically have the lowest health of everyone I’m partied with and die the most. That’s fine with me because that’s how I chose to shape my character. So in dungeons I dont pull the agro. I take out the little annoying mobs and make sure everyone is alive. When I start pulling agro I back off and switch to pistols, kitting until someone else has it.

In dungeons like fractals, if everyone is getting owned I usually end up the last man standing and can revive everyone so we dont have to start over. Thats the beauty of being able to go invis.
When you walk into a room and there are too many mobs for the party, scorpian wire comes in really handy.
Thats what teamwork is.

You just have to know how to play your character and know the disadvantages/advantages to whichever weapons and skills you chose to have.

They have said they aren’t going to put any items in the gem store that will give players an advantage. However, I dont think that a permanent tool would fall into that category and I think this is a good idea.

And for kitten’s sake, could we get some combat variety? press 1, dodge, press 2, dodge, press 4, then 3, then dodge… every class is DPS- it’s simply a matter of what animation I want to see when I press said key that determines what class I roll. there’s no support, no dedicated healers (probably the biggest disappointment IMO), no real boss mechanics.

Dude, lets not start this again. It’s not a trinity game. Get over it or go play something else.

I got infracted for posting a topic about a guy who is botting, I supplied video evidence and everything. I just dont see why trying to do a good deed by making a topic about the bot is a bad thing and could get my account terminated? That isn’t right. It wasnt an easy bot to spot where he would get very many people reporting him in-game. I feel that if he had only 2 people report him in-game that it would be looked over so there has to be another way to report botters without getting in trouble for it. The character I reported also doesnt always bot. That is the reason why I chose to put it on the forums. It was a rare botting case in such, that he was hard to see unless you watch him for 2 minutes. Maybe we could have a part of the forum to post a topic about a cheater/botter/hacker with video proof and whatever, but when you post the topic only moderators can see it.

Combat roles, no trinity...

You dont have to have a group of pro’s that have specific roles to finish a dungeon. How is that a bad thing?
Different classes DO have different roles and skills that can come in very handy to help finish dungeons alot quicker. They are not necessary, but if you know how to play your character and work as a team it is very handy. I’ll give you an example. I’m a thief, and I’m hella squishy. I’m a full out damage dealing build. When you have a group in a dungeon that is pretty tough such as there being alot of mobs around if you walk in you agro them all. I havent played all of the other classes yet, but after the team rushes in and we all die a few times you have to come up with some better ideas and having scorpian wire to pull in single targets to make a lighter load is very helpful and comes in very handy. It’s a nice skill that the thief has but being squishy as I am someone else has to take the agro. Another role is when we are fighting a boss and little mobs are spawning and being a nuisance, I’m taking those out but as soon as that boss is below 50% Being a thief is the time to shine and lay on the high damage and become the finisher. Thats just a small example that in GW2, not every class has the same roles and can do the same things. Yes, I can solo in PVE quite well as pretty much every class can. There are certain roles that classes do convert to when in group settings. Another good example of a thief role is the reviver, being able to go invis and revive the party is very helpful in FotM. What i’m saying is that the fantastic thing about GW2 is that yes, you dont need to play specific roles to be able to play PVE and do dungeons. But classes do have advantages and disadvantages that if you know how to play your class well, then you will be finding yourself playing some of these roles with/without realizing it. They are not the standard trinity roles but knowing your characters advantages/disadvantages makes things go alot smoother and quicker so you can get back in that dungeon and do it again.
